00:00a public hearing in missouri on july 17th i don't want to i mean i read this i don't want to give it

00:05fully away i know we got sports betting coming it's like the only state this year where sports

00:10betting is coming to a new place this is not in jeopardy at all is it no not at all so what this

00:15is is last month uh the missouri gaming commission opened up the public hearing or public comment

00:21period for the sports betting rules now i mean just to rewind just to fill everybody in if you

00:25haven't been paying attention the last year um is you know last year there's a big ballot push

00:30an election push to get sports betting legal after multiple legislative failures in missouri it barely

00:37passed like barely over 50 at the ballot box and then we got moving and right afterwards the missouri

00:44gaming commission said you know we want to be up by the summer let's let's get emergency rules in

00:49place and let's go well the the secretary of state said whoa whoa no we're not going to do that you

00:55have to wait till august 31st to get the real rules in place before launching and so that's where

00:59we've got this slow roll process going now the rules have been published now you get the public

01:04comment period which is when anybody really can submit you know suggested changes requested changes

01:11what have you generally this is you know suppliers and the operators the fan duels draft kings the fanatics

01:19of the worlds saying hey we want this rule changed we want this tweaked you know generally it's to

01:25be more friendly to the industry for when you're reading through them um and and so that's what

01:30you know the period is those are all due on the 16th on the 17th there will be a public hearing which

01:37you know then they can come up and actually talk about it and say what they want and change and

01:41whatnot and from there uh you know they should get finalized shortly thereafter and then go into effect

01:47august 31st from there we know the missouri gaming commission has said a december 1st launch which

01:53is the latest it can possibly launch by law um so it is interesting to see them put that

01:59that far ahead um you know also the application period is open for operators we know there's two

02:05in already draft kings and underdog we know uh bet365 is partnered with the cardinals we know

02:12betmgm is with century casinos so we know a little bit of what's going on we don't know who and if

02:18underdog and draft kings are partnered those might be uh for the untethered licenses in the states

02:23which we'll know uh those will be awarded in the middle of august so we'll know then um so yeah

02:29everything's just kind of falling into line and yes it is taking a little bit longer than maybe

02:32initially hoped when it first passed uh at the ballot box in november but we're we're steamrolling

02:38right towards it and and missourians will have sports betting almost before you know it i think

02:43because this year's going by quickly i will say that it is
