01:48Well today in BALAMORI you can certainly feel the weather
01:52because it's a cold day
01:58And everyone here is busy going to work and school
02:05So, I wonder what adventures we'll get up to today?
02:10Oh, what a strange looking bird
02:14Have you seen a bird like this before?
02:17I bet even PC Plum doesn't have this in any of his bird books
02:21Did you hear that?
02:25Yes!
02:27It's the school bus
02:29I wonder who will be coming to the BALAMORI nursery today

03:53You're bound to find a story in that lot to tell the children this afternoon.
03:56Thanks, Miss Hooley, but I don't need to look for a story.
03:59I already have one that is just perfect.
04:02Really? What's it called?
04:03A Nancy.
04:04Bless you.
04:05No, I wasn't sneezing. It's a name.
04:08Whose name?
04:09A spider's name.
04:11Oh, I mean, they...
04:14I don't think the children would like a story about a big hairy spider.
04:18I mean, they might be frightened of spiders.
04:23What? Frightened of a big hairy spider? Like this one?
04:27Oh! Yes, just like that.
04:32Oh, believe me, Miss Hooley, by the time you...
04:36I mean, I mean, they have heard the story of a Nancy the spider, you...
04:41I mean, they won't be frightened of spiders any more.
04:44I wouldn't be too sure about that, Josie.
04:47Well, I am. Now I must dash off and pick up a Nancy.
04:50He's going to help me tell the story.
04:52You're bringing a Nancy here?
04:54Of course.
04:55Of course. Oh, dear.
04:58Bye.
04:59Bye.
05:02So, which coloured house do you think Josie will visit first today?
05:06Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
05:19Well, this part of the story in Balamori,
05:22of which is the house for me?
05:25Is it red? Is it white?
05:28Which coloured house do you think is right?
05:31Pink, yellow, green, orange or blue?
05:33Which coloured house are we going to?
05:42Which coloured house are we going to?
05:45Tell me, what do you think?
05:48Which coloured house are we going to?
05:50Tell me, what do you think?
05:52It's the pink house!
05:55Yes, it's the pink house, because that's where Archie lives.
06:02Yoghurt pot, yoghurt pot, where can you be?
06:06Oh, hello, Archie. Not busy, are you?
06:09Me? Busy?
06:10Well, I suppose so.
06:11I've been looking for this missing yoghurt pot for hours.
06:13Well, maybe I can help.
06:14What type of yoghurt pot is it?
06:17Er, strawberry, I think.
06:19No, not rich flavour.
06:20What type of shape?
06:22Is it big? Small?
06:24Both of those, precisely.
06:26Both?
06:26So, erm, in between?
06:28Er, yes.
06:30Like the one Nobby's eating from?
06:33Yeah, that's the ticket.
06:37Nobby!
06:37Well done, Josie.
06:41And, of course, well done, Nobby.
06:42Right.
06:43Now I can finish whatever it was that I started.
06:46Oh.
06:48Now, what had I started?
06:49Could it be the spider you promised to make me for story time at the nursery today?
06:54Oh, yes, of course.
06:55I was going to finish your spider, Shancy.
06:58Anansi.
06:59Bless you.
07:00No, I didn't sneeze, Archie.
07:02Anansi's the name of the spider.
07:04Oh, right.
07:05Well, in that case, I hope that you like my...
07:08Anansi's.
07:09Oh, Archie, that is brilliant!
07:11Just like how I imagined it to be.
07:13Oh, good.
07:13Right.
07:14I just need to...
07:15put these yoghurt pots on the last leg.
07:23And there we are.
07:24Ready for a test drive.
07:26OK.
07:27Moves left.
07:28And to the right.
07:31Moves up.
07:32Moves down.
07:33Jumps up.
07:34Jumps down.
07:35And Anansi the Spider-Man crawls across the floor as quietly as a mouse.
07:44Spider-Man?
07:46Oh, yes.
07:47Didn't I tell you the story?
07:48No.
07:49Well, Anansi is a magical Spider-Man.
07:52He lives in a world of dreams.
07:54And he can change into any animal he chooses at any time he wants.
07:57He can become an elephant with a long, swishing trunk.
08:02Oh, he can become a crocodile with snap, snapping jaws.
08:08Or a camel trimming on leaves.
08:13Or a pink, slender flamingo perched on one leg.
08:22Swishing trunks, snapping, chewing, perching on one leg.
08:32I don't think my spider can do all of those things, Josie.
08:37I mean, maybe with a few major modifications.
08:39And of course, a new counter-level system, of course.
08:40Yes, but that doesn't matter, Archie.
08:42Because I can imitate all the animals' movements.
08:44And the children will be able to picture all the different animals with just a little imagination.
08:51But what if they can't?
08:52What if they've never seen a camel or a pink flamingo?
08:55Oh, I don't know, Archie.
08:57What am I going to do?
08:59I know someone who is guaranteed to have all the animals my spider might turn into.
09:04Really?
09:04Who can that be?
09:06E.D. MacReady, of course.
09:07Let me take you on a journey to who knows where.
09:14I can show you the penguin or the polar bear.
09:19There's oceans to swim and mountains to climb.
09:23I can show you it all.
09:24Come up and see me sometime.
09:27E.D. MacReady, of course.
09:31My camera comes with me wherever I go.
09:34Recording what I see, straight to video.
09:39All around the world and back in time for tea.
09:43I can show you it all.
09:45Come up and watch it with me.
09:47Come up and see me sometime.
09:50I'm a real movie star.
09:51Come up and see me sometime.
09:54Take two.
09:55Action.
09:56Any time, anywhere.
10:00Catch.
10:00I go and get my camera and you'll be there.
10:04Weddings, bar mitzvahs, carnival shows.
10:09Holidays and birthdays, anything goes.
10:13Lights.
10:14Action.
10:15Life is fine.
10:17I can show you it all.
10:19Come up and see me sometime.
10:21Come up and see me sometime.
10:23I'm a real movie star.
10:25Come up and see me sometime.
10:27Take three.
10:29Action.
10:29All around the world and back for tea.
10:33I can show you it all.
10:35Come up and see me sometime.
10:40Mad Cat.
10:42Hello?
10:53Edie?
10:55Is there anybody home?
10:59Oh.
11:00Edie must be going camping.
11:03Oh, well, it's a funny sort of tent, though.
11:06There's no way in.
11:07Oh, yes, there is.
11:10Oh, Edie, I didn't see you there.
11:13Oh, well, that's the whole idea, Josie.
11:15This is my hide, and it helps me get close up to animals in the wild so that I can get
11:22some great pictures.
11:24Oh, well, what's that for?
11:28Oh, well, this here is a tripod.
11:30Now, it holds my camera steady when my arms get tired.
11:37Oh, tell me, who is this little chap?
11:42Anansi.
11:43Bless you.
11:43No, Edie, I wasn't sneezing.
11:47Anansi's his name.
11:48He's a Spider-Man.
11:50Ah, what?
11:51Oh, I think you had better stop right there and tell me, what's the story in Balamore?
11:58Well, I called in to see Miss Hooney earlier to tell her about the Anansi story I am planning
12:07to tell the children today.
12:09She thought a story about a spider might be scary, but I told her not to worry.
12:15Ah, she made a brilliant model of Anansi, but we aren't sure what to do if the children
12:20don't know what some of the other animals in the story look like.
12:23So that's why I'm here, Edie.
12:28I was wondering if you have any videos of flamingos, elephants, camels and crocodiles.
12:34It's funny you should ask.
12:35Oh, I have one right here of my most recent safari.
12:42There, now.
12:45It should have everything on it that you need.
12:48Oh, brilliant.
12:50Oh, look, I'd stop right there.
12:54Oh, recognise that chap.
12:56Yes, it's crocodile with snapping jaws.
12:58Oh, yep.
12:59Now, I'll just fast forward.
13:04Oh, look.
13:05There's the camel with its humps.
13:08Let's see what else.
13:11It's elephant.
13:12Oh, look at its big flapping ears and long swooshing trunk.
13:18And on.
13:20Oh, and freeze.
13:22Oh, wow.
13:24It's pink flamingo.
13:25Oh, look at its long, slender neck and beautiful wings.
13:29Do you know they stand on one leg when they're resting?
13:34Oh, Edie.
13:39I hope the children are better at being flamingos than we are.
13:42Oh, yes, I hope so.
13:44Here's your video, Josie.
13:47Oh, great.
13:48Look, I'd better get going to the nursery straight away.
13:50It's almost story time.
13:52Thanks again, Edie.
13:53Bye.
13:54Bye.
13:55Happy hunting.
14:05Now, there once lived a boy called Jeremiah.
14:09He loved to lie in the sunshine and dream all day.
14:13He dreamed of green jungles filled with animals covered in bright feathers and furry skin.
14:20He dreamed of crocodiles and elephants and other things, but nothing he dreamed of was as special as a Nancy the Spider-Man.
14:32Now, Jeremiah was normally afraid of spiders, but this one was different.
14:40He was friendly, kind and cuddly, with a smile for everyone he met.
14:45See?
14:46Now, Anansi's favourite game was to change into all the animals that were past his tree.
14:53Let's join him with Anansi and move like the animals that we see.
14:57Now, the first animal that passed Anansi's home was a crocodile.
15:03Yes, that's it.
15:04Should we move?
15:05Should we all stand up?
15:06Let's all stand up and move like the crocodiles.
15:08So, it snapped.
15:09So, it snapped.
15:10It snapped.
15:11It snapped.
15:12Well, the next animal to pass Anansi's home was a camel.
15:20Let's chew like a camel from side to side.
15:25Let's all chew.
15:27That's right, from side to side.
15:33Oh, look, said Jeremiah.
15:40It's an elephant.
15:41Oh, an elephant.
15:42With big, flapping ears and swishing trunks.
15:45Yeah, should we have long trunks and swish like an elephant?
15:51Let's all swish like an elephant.
15:53Let's swish like an elephant.
15:55Oh, wow.
15:58Look.
15:58Look at that animal passing my tree, said Anansi.
16:06It's a bird, said Jeremiah.
16:09It's called a pink flamingo.
16:13Should we all stand on one leg like a pink flamingo?
16:17Who can stand on one leg like a pink flamingo?
16:22Oh, that's lovely.
16:23Now, it was time for Anansi to go to sleep.
16:31Shhh.
16:32Good night.
16:33Good night.
16:34Good night.
16:36Good night.
16:36Good night.
16:38So, what was the story in Balamori today?
16:52Well...
16:53Josie Jump arrived at the nursery and told me she had chosen a story about Anansi the Spider-Man
17:03to tell the children.
17:05I wasn't sure they would like a story about a spider, but Josie said they'd love it.
17:12But she had made a brilliant model of Anansi the Spider-Man to help Josie tell the story.
17:17But Josie needed something else.
17:20A video of all the other animals in the story.
17:25Edie came to the rescue.
17:27She gave Josie a video with crocodiles, elephants, camels and beautiful pink flamingos on it.
17:34In fact, all the animals Anansi the Spider-Man turns into through the story.
17:38We all watched the video and pretended to be the animals, copying their movements, just
17:46like Anansi and Jeremiah in the story.
17:49And that was the story in Balamori.
17:55It was great fun.
17:57Did you enjoy the story of Anansi the Spider-Man too?
18:01I thought you would.
18:04And I'll be seeing you really soon.
18:10Bye!
18:12Bye!
