“When we support weaving, we empower our farmers, artisans, and communities. This is not fashion—this is livelihood, identity, and history,” said Senator Loren Legarda, highlighting the importance of having a handloom weaving center.
The senator also shared that she is set to refile the Philippine Handloom Weaving Industry Development Act. The measure aims to institutionalize the weaving program under the DOST-PTRI, ensuring long-term government support for local textile innovation, training and market development.
