Connie Wilson’s new sculptural works, presented at Liste Art Fair 2025 in Basel, explore the interplay between interior and exterior spaces, connecting global consumption and trade systems. Her series, begun in 2022, reimagines wartime-era heating oil tanks, traditionally painted to resemble grazing animals like cows or pigs, as replica oil tanks. Instead of fossil fuels—derived from ancient organic matter—these tanks contain miniature airport hotel rooms, viewable through peephole doorways, inviting viewers to engage with their somatic presence. Alongside these, Wilson exhibits box-like forms inspired by pork cuts (loin, ear, shoulder, etc.), abstracted into geometric volumes wrapped in vibrant vinyl, fabric, and reclaimed leather.
