कर्नाटक सरकार ने बेंगलुरू रूरल जिले का नाम बेंगलुरू नॉर्थ रखने का फैसला किया है. इस फैसले पर हितधारकों की राय बंटी हुई है. ये फैसला हाल में कैबिनेट की बैठक में किया गया. बैठक की अध्यक्षता मुख्यमंत्री सिद्धारमैया ने की थी. इससे पहले रामनगर जिले का नया नामकरण बेंगलुरू साउथ किया गया था. राज्य की कांग्रेस सरकार के मुताबिक इस कदम से नई ब्रांडिग होगी, जिससे निवेश आकर्षित होंगे. इससे विकास की रफ्तार बढ़ेगी और आसपास के तालुका बेंगलुरू की अर्थव्यवस्था से जुड़ सकेंगे. सरकार का मानना है कि नए नामकरण से विकास में तेजी आएगी, लेकिन कुछ जानकारों को इसपर संदेह है. उनका मानना है कि नए नामकरण जरूरत से ज्यादा किए जा रहे हैं. हालांकि ब्रांड के कुछ जानकार इसे वाणिज्यिक रूप से सही कदम मान रहे हैं. नया नामकरण एक व्यापक पहल का हिस्सा है। इस पहल में बागपल्ली का नाम बदलकर भाग्यनगर और बेंगलुरू सिटी यूनिवर्सिटी का नाम बदलकर डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह के नाम पर रखा गया है. इसके अलावा तीन हजार 400 करोड़ रुपये से ज्यादा की बुनियादी ढांचा परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी दी गई है.

02:36Bengaluru is not a city it's an attitude it's a way of life it's a way of work
02:41and Bengaluru most importantly is commerce
02:43and therefore if you rename Bengaluru rural to Bengaluru south let's say or north or whatever we call it
02:52it gives it that attitude which Bengaluru has
02:55so I think it's a commercial decision
