00:00Well, I'm sure you all know by now, this is the contest in which you, the viewers,
00:21pick the song which will represent Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest.
00:25Just so that we know what's happening, I'll tell you a little bit about it.
00:29You see, a lot of songs have been sent in, and a panel of professional judges have picked the best six.
00:36And here to sing all six songs, one after the other, is a very good friend of mine, Mr. Cliff Richards.
00:51We're posting six songs, one after the other, so that you can make up your mind of which one you're going to vote for.
00:57Now, in case you're wondering what these cards are for, it's because in case I forget anything,
01:02I really want to get everything right, the names of the songs and the names of the people who wrote them.
01:07So if I glance down every now and again, you know what I'm doing.
01:10So let's start off with the first song.
01:12Now, it was written by a Mr. Guy Fletcher and Douglas Flett, and it's called Wonderful World.
01:19There is a wonderful world to be found, and I'll find it with you.
01:38And there are wonderful things all around us, there's so much to do.
01:47I know that one day, someday, our dreams will all come true.
01:56And if you love me, you'll see all that true love can do.
02:06There are some wonderful times to be had, and you'll share them with me.
02:15And there are wonderful things to be done, and places to see.
02:23Heaven above will be here on earth if you love me.
02:31Cause anywhere that there's love, there's a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful world.
02:42There is a wonderful world to be found, and I'll find it with you.

03:36Well, that was song number one called Wonderful World.
03:52Now at the present time, you might like to get some pencils and paper at home, and write down the names of the titles as we go along.
03:58And by the way, you'll be getting a second chance to hear all six songs again later on in the program.
04:05But in the meantime, here's song number two. It was written by Tommy Scott, and it's called Do You Remember?
04:11Do you remember?
04:12There was a time the world belonged to you and I. We lived in love but never bothered asking why. Do you remember, baby? Do you remember, baby? Do you remember, baby?
04:39Do you remember, baby? Do you remember, baby? Do you remember, baby? Do you remember, baby? I still believe in love and everything it means.
04:55Do you remember, baby? Do you remember, baby? Do you remember, baby? I still believe in love and everything it means. And I believe that somewhere someone waits for me.

06:59Cook and Roger Greenaway, and it's called High and Dry. High, high, high and dry. She's
07:09lost her love and she'll never know why. High, high, high and dry. Nothing to do now but
07:18sit down and cry. What can you say when your girl runs away? If telling you sweetly she
07:27loves you completely. I wish I knew, cause it happened to me. What a two-timing woman
07:34she turned out to be. But now she's high, high, high and dry. She's lost her love and
07:43she'll never know why. High, high, high and dry. Nothing to do now but sit down and cry.
07:52I should have known when I first took her home, that she wouldn't stay with me, no love
08:00to give me. She played around all the boys in the town, and like them I was finally due to
08:08be down. But now she's high, high, high and dry. She's lost her love and she'll never know
08:16why. High, high, high and dry. Nothing to do now but sit down and cry. One day along came
08:28the end of the end of my song. The young man who she fell for, heard wedding bells for. But
08:34when she showed in her white bridal gown, he was up and away on a train out of town. And
08:41now she's high, high, high and dry. She's lost her love and she'll never know why. High,
08:50high, high, high and dry. Nothing to do now but sit down and cry. High and dry.
09:02Oh, I know how you feel, love. It's so exciting being up here. I know exactly how they feel.
09:23I'm breaking out in a rush. I really am. Oh, but now we've got to carry on. And as I said,
09:29that was song number three, called High and Dry. But let's go on to song number four, which
09:36was written by Anthony Hazard. And here comes Cliff to sing the sound of the Candyman's trumpet.
09:44Come away, he calls. Listen how the night is falling. Palaces and halls, he can take you there. Don't be scared, he'll be heard to say.
10:11Only then you know just what it's like to hear the sound of the Candyman's trumpet. Of the Candyman painting in the sky.
10:29Colors fly,
10:36Accepting all you see, seize the chance and let the dance begin. Only then you'll know just what it's like to hear the sound of the candy man's trumpet.
10:57Of the candy man singing loud and clear. But love is here to stay. Nothing else is true. It's up to you each day to hear him calling, calling, calling, calling.
11:27Come away and find peace of mind forever after. I sight for the blind so everyone may see.
11:46Time will stand still candy man will play. And only then you'll know just what it's like to hear the sound of the candy man's trumpet.
12:03Of the candy man's trumpet. Of the candy man's trumpet.
12:11That was song number four called the sound of the candy man's trumpet. Only two more songs to go before you make your final.
12:34So here's song number five. It was written by Bill Martin and Phil Coulter and it's called Congratulations.
12:41Congratulations.
12:42Congratulations and celebrations. When I tell everyone that you're in love with me. Congratulations and jubilations. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be.
13:05Who would believe that I could be. Who would believe that I could be happy and contented. I used to think that happiness hadn't been invented.
13:15But that was in the bad old days before I met you. When I let you walk into my heart.
13:25Congratulations and celebrations. When I tell everyone that you're in love with me. Congratulations and jubilations. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be.
13:47I was afraid that you're in love with me. I was afraid that maybe you thought you were above me. That I was only fooling myself to think you love me.
13:57But then tonight you said you couldn't live without me. But round about me you wanted to stay. Congratulations and celebrations. When I tell everyone that you're in love with me.
14:19Congratulations and jubilations. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be.
14:29Congratulations and jubilations. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be.
14:41Congratulations and jubilations. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be.
15:02Congratulations and jubilations. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be. I want the world to know I'm happy as can be.
15:20That was song number five. And of course it was called Congratulations. Now as I said before, you'll be getting a second chance to hear all six songs again later on in the program.
15:31But now here's clear to sing the final number for tonight. It was written by Mike Leander and it's called Little Ragdoll.
15:41And now we're apart. I look in my heart to find out what's wrong with me. Sad as a cloud, I yell at the crowd, but nobody answers me.
16:09But he answers me. Somewhere she cries while I count the lies. I told her when we were in love. Then all the world was afloat. Now I've got nothing to show.
16:27Little Ragdoll, come home again. Little Ragdoll, come home again. Love me now as you did then. Little Ragdoll, put on your gown. Take the arm of this foolish crown.
16:41Little Ragdoll, review my case. Smile upon this beautiful face. Little sad doll, little bad doll. Be my little Ragdoll again.
16:57Once in a while, an angel will smile. And magic and wonder can happen to you. If it happens to me, how good it would be. The world will take pity on me.
17:11Little Ragdoll, be my little Ragdoll.
17:13Little Ragdoll, unlock the door. Let me love you just once more. Little Ragdoll, reach out to me. Can you forgive a fool like me?
17:26Little Ragdoll, come home again. Little Ragdoll, come home to stay. Make my night a wonderful day. Little sad doll, little bad doll. Be my little Ragdoll once more.
17:40Be my little Ragdoll, my little bad doll. Be my little Ragdoll again.
17:47That was song number six, called Little Ragdoll. Well, you've heard all six songs now, but only one of them will be able to go through to the Eurovision song concert.
18:16And that's when all the continental countries...
