00:00I drove an ice cream truck for a couple of years.
00:07I am the kind of person who never stopped at one place or at one job.
00:11I kind of did everything I could to earn money to travel the world.
00:15After a part-time job at a local restaurant, I was getting bored in a small town.
00:20I was planning to go out and get on the roads.
00:23I had this one friend from school who told me she has got a permanent job as a chef in California.
00:27I remember she had an ice cream truck, so without wasting any more time,
00:31I asked her if I could rent that from her to make some money.
00:34I won't lie, she not only gave me the truck forever, but didn't even take a single penny from me.
00:40So, with an entrepreneurial attitude, I started my mini business.
00:45I had no idea that I always had a knack for the food business.
00:48I started to travel in that truck and sell ice cream for a living in the entire Oklahoma area.
00:54I renovated the truck with my hard-earned savings and started a new chapter in my life.
00:59I generally stopped near playgrounds and schools in the evenings.
01:02The fun part of the job was to see kids chattering around me with excitement and laughter.
01:07After a month, I became familiar with the kids.
01:10I remember every little face to whom I sold ice cream.
01:14It was a warm summer afternoon, also a holiday.
01:17Expecting the children to come early to the park, I started driving the truck to the location.
01:21When I reached the park, I saw children have started to arrive.
01:26I pulled the truck under a tree near the sidewalks and rang the bell attached to the truck.
01:30They all gathered around the truck and started asking for their favorites while raising a dollar with their tiny hands.
01:36It was like feeding 1,000 tadpoles in a small pond.
01:40I was busy distributing the ice cream when my eyes went to a little boy sitting at some distance.
01:44He was sitting on a green bench while keeping his head down.
01:47It seemed really odd that amidst all these active kids, the boy was on his own like this.
01:53Almost every kid in the park took ice cream from me, but that boy didn't even turn around once towards the truck.
01:59I thought, maybe he has no money.
02:02So I decided to give that kid a chocolate cone for free.
02:05I turned around and prepared a cone for him, but when I looked back, he was gone.
02:10The empty bench lied there.
02:12I got a bit sad and started to clean the truck before moving on to another spot.
02:16I was cleaning the floor of the truck when I heard a small knock on the order desk.
02:20I turned around and saw that it was that little boy who was sitting on that bench a few minutes back.
02:25He was standing near the truck, but his head was still down.
02:29Sun was about to set, so the area under the tree got a bit darker than usual.
02:34I couldn't see his face at all.
02:36I asked in a cheerful voice,
02:38Did you want an ice cream?
02:39Without moving up his head, he raised his small hands toward me and said,
02:43A strawberry cone, please.
02:45His fingers were dirty and there were mud under his nails.
02:48It seemed like he dug the ground with his small hands just a few moments back.
02:53I gave him the strawberry cone, but refused to take the money.
02:56But he didn't move away.
02:58He just stood there like before holding the dollar on his muddy hand as it dangled in the air.
03:03The kid's body language felt very weird to me.
03:06I have never seen such a calm and extremely quiet kid like him till now.
03:11I took the money and the kid took his strawberry cone and turned around to walk away.
03:16Hey, what is your name?
03:18He stopped and without turning around replied,
03:21Mom told me never to talk to strangers.
03:24I have to go home.
03:25She's waiting for me.
03:27He then walked away.
03:28I got a bit surprised seeing this kid's obedience towards his mother.
03:32Such a well-behaved kid, I thought to myself.
03:35That night, after coming home, I still couldn't stop thinking about that child's unexpected behavior.
03:40I decided to go to the same park tomorrow and talk to that kid more.
03:44The next day, I went there again.
03:47As I went on selling ice cream, my eyes kept scanning the park for that little boy the entire time.
03:51At a point, when I realized he won't come today, I started to pack up for the day.
03:57I was putting the ice cream tubs inside the mini-fridge when I almost gasped in fear.
04:01A small dirty hand was resting on the desk of the truck.
04:05It didn't take me a second to realize whose hand was that.
04:08Jeez, you scared me, I said in a relieved voice.
04:12The boy stood like before, holding a dirty dollar in his hand while keeping his head down.
04:17I said,
04:18Now, we are not strangers anymore. You can tell me your name.
04:22He said in the same emotionless voice,
04:25I'm Mikel.
04:26Well, hello Mikel. Do you come here alone?
04:29He nodded his head slowly from up to down.
04:32I handed him his strawberry ice cream.
04:35As I went to take the dollar from his hand, my fingers ran over his index finger,
04:39and his dirty nail came off, revealing the red flesh underneath.
04:42Oh God, you are hurt. You need help.
04:46I said, seeing this vicious sight.
04:48But without saying anything, the boy turned around and started to walk away.
04:52It seemed like he didn't even feel the pain when the nail came off.
04:55Drops of blood laid on the desk, and I watched the boy walk away as if nothing happened.
05:00I couldn't hold my curiosity anymore.
05:03As soon as he went behind that tree, I came down and started to follow him.
05:06The boy was walking towards the left corner of the park that was now in complete darkness.
05:11This side was also covered with vines and weeds.
05:13I had no intention of scaring the child, so I maintained my distance and watched him secretly.
05:19After walking to a big tree at the end of the park, he stopped under it.
05:23The small lamp on the other side of the road gave me some light to that corner.
05:27The boy crashed down on the road and started digging up the soil with his small hands.
05:31He dug without stopping.
05:33His nails and fingers cut open with the pressure.
05:36Raw flesh and blood came out of his wounds as he went on.
05:39But I still couldn't see his face.
05:41I was thinking to stop this child from hurting himself like this
05:44when the boy placed the ice cream in the pit he just dug up and buried it with soil again.
05:49I couldn't watch anymore, so I came out from the bushes screaming.
05:53What are you doing? Are you alright?
05:54For the first time, the boy lifted up his face towards me.
05:59On that warm summer evening, I felt a gush of cold wind shivering down my spine.
06:04The kid had no eyes.
06:05Instead of his eyeballs, dark hollow eye sockets stared at me.
06:10A painful expression appeared on his face and he said,
06:13I want to go home, but no matter how much I dig to come out, I always end up here.
06:19And vanished in the air, right in front of my eyes.
06:22I fell to the floor with a huge shock.
06:26My mouth opened in shock and my heart stopped in fear.
06:29Sweat appeared on my forehead as I tried to make out what just happened a few seconds earlier.
06:34I can't explain how I picked myself up that day and returned home.
06:37The next day, when I went to that park, I saw cops near the park and it was sealed like a crime scene.
06:43A small crowd gathered on the sidewalk and watched this entire situation.
06:48Out of confusion, I asked the man standing in the crowd,
06:51What's going on here?
06:52He said in a restless voice.
06:54They have traced a missing kid from last month.
06:57It seemed like someone abducted this kid for ransom and later murdered him.
07:01An old woman came to jog in the morning when her dog dug up that ground under the tree.
07:05That's when she saw a small hand lurking beneath the soil.
07:09Look, look.
07:10There he is.
07:11I followed the man's eyes and saw the paramedic taking away a corpse of a small child dressed exactly like that little boy.
07:19The corpse had no eyes, which supposedly got eaten by maggots.
07:23The body has been there for months, so its rotten smell made the air heavy.
07:26Everyone covered their nose and some even walked away to avoid vomiting.
07:30It came to know that the boy's babysitter brought him to the park and later abducted him, asking for ransom from his parents.
07:37When they threatened her, saying she will never get away with this, the cruel woman strangled the boy and buried his body under that tree.
07:43The most shocking part was the kid was alive when she buried him.
07:48He fainted with the trauma and pressure on his neck, but when he regained consciousness, he found himself buried under the ground.
07:54He tried to come out while digging the soil, but choked to death during that struggle.
07:58His nails were all broken as he suffered silently.
08:02Now I actually understand what that kid meant when he said,
08:05I want to go home, but no matter how much I dig to come out, I always end up here.
08:10The poor kid's soul was trapped here for a month.
08:13And all he wanted was to go home.
08:16I hope this kid is finally resting in peace.
08:18And to that babysitter, may she rot in jail for her entire life.

08:57It happened when I was 13.
09:01I was in the 8th grade at the time.
09:04I remember the time well as a lot of kids had been going missing from our neighborhood.
09:08I remember the first child to go missing.
09:11His name was Matthew Smith, and he was our neighbor's son.
09:14It gave me a lot of trauma going to school the next day and not seeing one of my classmates.
09:19The weird activities had also put our town in fear as the cops had no idea where the kids were or who was taking them.
09:26But amidst the horror of it all, there was a ray of hope that appeared as a shining light for us kids.
09:32And that ray of hope was Mr. Williams' ice cream truck.
09:36Mr. Williams was a man who regularly sold ice cream to our neighborhood.
09:39Every time I came back home from school, his ice cream truck would always be packed with kids.
09:45And while I believed he was a good man, most things about Mr. Williams was odd.
09:51First of all, he didn't drive a normal ice cream truck as the vehicle he drove looked more like an RV than a truck,
09:58as it was much bigger than regular ice cream trucks.
10:01Secondly, he always had this weird, ecstatic look on his face every time he saw children.
10:06As I remember the first time I met him, and he looked at me with wanting eyes like I was a treat.
10:13Finally, last weird thing about Mr. Williams was the distinct taste of his ice cream.
10:19It's really hard to explain, but you know how vanilla ice cream tastes the same regardless of which store you buy it from?
10:25Well, no other ice cream tasted like the one made by Mr. Williams,
10:30as whatever ingredients he used gave his own ice cream its own unique taste.
10:35And it was still sweet at the same time.
10:38I don't know what was in it, but I always craved the distinct taste of his particular ice cream.
10:44And I knew I wasn't alone, as every other kid always wanted it too.
10:48Visiting his truck soon became a tradition for me, till a weird occurrence that happened one afternoon.
10:54I had just come back from school, and as usual, I went to get some ice cream at Mr. Williams' truck.
11:00It was pretty crowded, as other kids were rushing to get there, so I decided to wait out the frenzy by going to the back of the truck.
11:07As I stood there waiting, I began to hear muffled noises coming from the back of the truck.
11:12I got curious, so I started to walk towards the truck so that I could try to make out what the noises were.
11:17I reached the door and I was about to place my ear on the door.
11:21I heard a loud guttery scream come from the truck.
11:24The scream startled me, so I immediately arched back and fell on the floor.
11:29I was confused and scared at the same time, as I began to ask myself,
11:34why was there a scream coming from the inside of an ice cream truck?
11:37At first, I thought Mr. Williams was in trouble, but as I began to think more deeply,
11:43I realized that the high-pitched scream belonged to a child.
11:47Numerous thoughts started running through my head as I sat down there, too scared to move.
11:52Eventually, everything became quiet as the screams of the excited kids rushing for ice cream had died down.
12:00As I got up to move, that's when the back of the ice cream truck opened up and Mr. Williams walked out.
12:05As he saw me sitting down on the floor, he looked at me with concerned eyes and said,
12:11Tracy, isn't it?
12:12I was still scared, so I didn't answer.
12:15He then continued with,
12:17What happened to you? Did you fall down?
12:19You look pale, as if you've seen a ghost.
12:21I still didn't answer, but I just did the first thing that popped into my mind, and I bolted.
12:28I ran all the way to my house, and I locked the door behind me.
12:31That night, I went to bed with only one question on my mind.
12:36Who was the child who screamed in the back of Mr. Williams' truck?
12:41Throughout the following week, I avoided Mr. Williams' truck, as I was still a bit scared due to the incident.
12:47With every passing day, I delved deeper into my thoughts, as I felt my curiosity eating at me.
12:53The next day, when I came back from school, I quietly slipped out of the house, and I made my way to Mr. Williams' van.
13:00As usual, it was really crowded and busy, so, amidst all the rowdiness, I found my way to the back of the truck.
13:08The doors were closed.
13:09I stood there for about 30 minutes with my thoughts, and I eventually gave up.
13:14I didn't hear anything, so I turned my back to leave.
13:17And that's when Mr. Williams emerged from the back of the truck.
13:21He was taking out what seemed to be trash, and as he walked down the streets to where our garbage cans were situated,
13:27I noticed the door was slightly left ajar.
13:29I knew I had heard nothing while I was waiting, but something told me to take a peek inside, just to clear all doubts.
13:37So, I walked forward, and I peeked into the van.
13:40It was pretty dark inside, and I couldn't see anything, so I decided to get in and take a better look.
13:46So, I walked in.
13:48The inside of the van looked like a small room, so I decided to take out my phone and use its torch to look around.
13:55At first, I was confused as to what I was seeing, as posters and pictures of little children were plastered all over the walls.
14:05There were notes all over the place, and everything seemed wrong about the scene.
14:09I began to walk forward when I felt something brush my leg.
14:13I looked down to see I had passed a slightly large dog cage.
14:17I was about to peer in to see if I was brushed by the paw of the dog, and that's when I saw a little human hand pressed against the cage.
14:26I was shocked, so I instinctively arched back.
14:29I knew I had seen a child's hand, but I had to make sure, so I summoned the courage, and I peered in.
14:36That's when I saw a young, gagged child stuffed inside the cage.
14:42I held myself from screaming, and I began to back away.
14:46It didn't take long before I bumped into something.
14:48I quickly turned around to see an extra four cages.
14:52Each of them held more gagged children inside.
14:55Before I could scream, the lights came on, and I heard Mr. Williams' voice say,
15:01I see you found my children, Tracy.
15:03I slowly turned around to see crazy-looking Mr. Williams smiling at me.
15:09Now that the room was properly lit, I saw numerous cages with tired, injured little children who were all gagged and whimpering inside them.
15:17What is this, Mr. Williams?
15:20So it's you who's taking all the kids away, I blurted out.
15:23Taking, he asked.
15:26No, no, no.
15:27You see, Tracy, these kids came to me.
15:30I didn't take anyone.
15:32Liar, I screamed back.
15:34It's obvious that you took them, but why?
15:37Why would you do such a thing?
15:39I asked him in tears.
15:41Why would I?
15:42He shouted back at me, obviously frustrated.
15:44Why would life, why would life give the beautiful gift of children to everyone but me?
15:53I'd be a great father.
15:55I've always loved kids, but I can't have them.
15:58It hurt me deeply, but I wasn't going to bitch about it, so I decided to collect them.
16:04To take them by force.
16:06And as you can see, I have amassed quite the collection.
16:12He spoke like the children weren't living, breathing human beings.
16:16He spoke like they were memorabilia, and it was one of the most horrible and horrific things I had ever heard.
16:23When he was done speaking, a tense silence filled the van.
16:28I tried to move forward, but he blocked my way.
16:31I stuttered.
16:33But please let me go.
16:35And that's when he replied.
16:37I'm afraid I can't let you do that.
16:40You see, I've had my eye on you for a while now, Tracy.
16:45And I think you'd make a great addition to my collection.
16:49And before I could reply to the morbid statement, he lunged at me.
16:53I instinctively threw my phone at him.
16:55It hit him in the eye, and he began to scream.
16:58With no hesitation, I bolted, and I ran all the way home.
17:02And I told my mom everything that happened, and she immediately called the cops.
17:07When the cops arrived, they couldn't find Mr. Williams.
17:10No one could, as he had completely vanished.
17:13The incident traumatized me for the rest of my childhood.
17:16But with a lot of therapy, I moved on.
17:20Although I always jump at the sound of an ice cream truck,
17:23as I know Mr. Williams is still out there collecting children and spreading his ice cream.
17:32I loved ice cream as a kid.
17:34I mean, what kid doesn't?
17:36I lived in a hot state too, so for kids in my town,
17:40hearing the ice cream truck jingle after a day hard at play
17:42was like seeing an oasis in the desert.
17:44My friends and I always made sure to have a tenner in our pockets
17:48in case the ice cream truck ever came around.
17:51We all recognized the ice cream man by his face with how often we saw him,
17:55and in return, he remembered all our names.
17:58Eventually, we learned his real name and started calling him by it instead of Sir.
18:01His name was Harry, and he always looked a little worse for wear.
18:06He was balding, middle-aged, and almost certainly depressed if his unkept, unshaven face was anything to go by.
18:13Still, he was nice to all the kids who came by his ice cream truck
18:16and made the effort to remember the usual orders of all his regulars.
18:19Every time I went up to him, he'd say,
18:23Hey, Joel, another strawberry popsicle today.
18:26I'd either reply,
18:27Yeah, thanks, Harry.
18:29Or tell him I wanted something else if I wasn't in the mood for it.
18:33I imagine he probably did the same with all his regulars, and not just the kids.
18:38The adults were all fond of him too.
18:40The merciless heat didn't spare them just because they were grown-ups,
18:43and most of them saw nothing wrong with indulging in a sweet treat every now and again.
18:47It wasn't uncommon to see a couple of grown adults leaning on the parked ice cream truck,
18:52making casual conversation with Harry with ice cream cones in their hands.
18:56We all already lived in a small town where everyone knew each other,
18:59but Harry and his ice cream was a fixture in the community that helped bring everyone together.
19:04I think Harry liked having things that way too.
19:07Unlike us kids, he was able to get more off his chest talking about his life with other grown-ups.
19:12I'd sometimes overhear my own parents chat about how rough Harry's life had been
19:16and what a good man is to still be so kind regardless of the fact.
19:20I don't know the full details,
19:22but I'd heard enough about him from bits and pieces of conversations over time
19:26to know that he was divorced and that his son was in prison for some sort of violent crime.
19:31I tried not to think too much about it, though.
19:34It wasn't like I could do much to help him anyways.
19:36I was just a kid, and as far as I was concerned,
19:39he was just a friendly local ice cream man who everybody liked
19:42and will always be there on a hot day to give us a cold treat.
19:46Those happy days wouldn't last, though.
19:49I was walking home late after hanging out at a friend's place.
19:53Since everyone in the neighborhood knew each other,
19:55my parents didn't really have a problem with 10-year-old me walking the streets alone.
19:59It was a hot afternoon, and the path back home was long,
20:03so I was excited when I noticed Harry's ice cream truck coming up the road besides me.
20:08The fact that the ice cream jingle wasn't playing from the speakers like normal
20:11should have been a red flag.
20:13But at the time, all I could think about was not much.
20:17I wanted a strawberry popsicle to beat the heat.
20:20I waved down the ice cream truck and waited for it to park.
20:23When it did, I rushed over to the side stall,
20:26expecting to see the town's favorite boomer.
20:29Instead, I was met with someone else entirely.
20:32He was a much younger man than Harry, who'd I'd never before seen in my life.
20:37And although he smiled as he greeted me,
20:39it lacked the friendly warmth I'd expect from the ice cream man I know.
20:43Hey there, kiddo.
20:44What are you having?
20:45Strawberry popsicle, please, I told him.
20:48One strawberry popsicle coming right up.
20:51The man disappeared into the truck for a moment
20:53before emerging with a wrapped red popsicle in his hand.
20:57I took it from his hand and noticed
20:59that the clear plastic packaging had become slightly torn.
21:02It wasn't an unusual sight.
21:04The plastic they used for these was as cheap as they came.
21:08What was odd was that I could see the popsicle had already partially melted,
21:12smeared the clear plastic with blobs of red.
21:14Whoever this new ice cream man was,
21:16he wasn't quite as thorough as Harry has been at his job.
21:20This is $1.25, right?
21:22I asked as I rummaged through my pocket with one hand
21:24while holding the still packaged popsicle in the other.
21:26The young man held up his hand.
21:29No need to pay, he told me.
21:31Consider it a gift from me to you.
21:34I started to like this guy a bit more after he said that.
21:37Gee, thanks.
21:39Actually, his eyes darted left and right
21:42as if to see if there was anyone nearby.
21:44How about I treat you to some more free ice cream in the truck?
21:49Why would you do that?
21:50I asked, starting to get suspicious again.
21:53See, I'm new here in town
21:55and I want to get along well with the kids here.
21:57So why don't you come inside so we can have a little chat?
22:01I'd love to get to know more about this place.
22:04Um, no thank you, I told him.
22:07I actually have somewhere to be right now.
22:10Aw, well that's a shame.
22:12The man was smiling,
22:14but I could see from his eyes that he was angry.
22:17Take care then.
22:18He drove off and I continued my walk home
22:20while trying to enjoy my popsicle,
22:23which was hard to do with how odd it was.
22:25Most of it still tasted like strawberry,
22:28but there was also an underlying metallic tint to it
22:30that I couldn't quite place.
22:32In the end,
22:33I couldn't even bring myself to finish the whole thing in one go
22:36with how strange it was.
22:38When I got home,
22:39I put the weird half-eaten popsicle in my freezer
22:41to continue eating later
22:42and went about the rest of my day as normal.
22:45The next day,
22:46I went downstairs from my room
22:48to see the face of the new ice cream man
22:50plastered on the news.
22:52My parents were both watching it with watery eyes.
22:55I was only somewhat shocked to see him there,
22:57but I didn't realize
22:58why my parents were crying
23:00until I listened to the news myself.
23:02The young man had been caught by the police
23:04in the middle of trying to coax another kid in town
23:06into his ice cream truck.
23:08They ended up inspecting his ice cream truck for it
23:11and found something
23:12that left the whole town shaking.
23:15Inside the freezer was the bloody body of Harry.
23:18His throat had been slid open
23:19and he'd been crammed right alongside the ice cream
23:22he'd been selling.
23:24I realized with horror
23:25that the metallic taste
23:26I got from that strawberry popsicle the other day
23:29was Harry's blood
23:30trickling from his still fresh corpse
23:32onto the packaged ice cream being sold.
23:35The news went on to explain
23:36that the young man,
23:37Harry's murderer,
23:38was none other than Harry's own son.
23:41He owed money to someone very violent
23:43and was planning to sell
23:44his own father's organs
23:45on the dark web to pay for it.
23:47He was even willing to kidnap kids
23:49to sell to pedophiles
23:50at those dark recesses of the internet
23:52and if not for my common sense
23:54I could have very well been one of them.
23:57The whole town mourned
23:59the loss of their friend
24:00while his traitorous son
24:01rotted in prison.
24:03Hopefully,
24:04he'll stay there
24:05for the rest of his miserable life
24:06for what he did.
24:07The whole town mourn
24:10The End
24:11The End
24:11The End
24:12The End
24:12The End
24:13The End
24:14The End
