00:00Hey everyone, Latifah Simon here. I am back in my office. After being in the actual dome for I believe it was 27 hours, I would do it again. While the Republicans advanced their bill, the big, cruel, horrific bill. We're going to press on.
00:20Now, I want folks to know what was in the bill and why we were fighting so hard. Why it's been so difficult knowing that we didn't have the numbers. We lost the election in November. So we lost the House. We lost the Senate. We lost the presidency. They control the legislature. They control the executive branch. Nevertheless, the fight was important.
00:42This cruel bill will take away health care from 17 million people. Of those folks, elders, young people, parents who are full-time taking care of their children who are fighting cancer or who are bedbound, young people with intellectual disabilities, their parents have given all they have to ensuring that those kids have a future.
01:07This bill at every angle attacks those families from the parents to the children. Generations, generations will be affected by what just happened in the dome. But I got to tell you something. I'm not giving up hope. We've been in places before where all has seemed to fail.
01:28But we know. But we know. We know that, one, elections have consequences. And there's another big election next year where we can take back the House. In the meantime, we get active. We organize. We say, hell no. We reject the lies of the Republican Party every single day.
01:48They are even more racist, more audacious, more classist, and they lie more. We can be a party, a people, a nation of truth, and do the right thing, stand up in our communities, fight back, sue the hell out of this administration, and win back our rights.
02:06I'm going to be right here every single day. I'm going to be right here every single day on the ground in my office, working with organizations, working with my colleagues who are forward-thinking, and we're going to stand up, fight back, and eventually we will win.
