Amazon will discontinue its free streaming service Freevee in August, consolidating all content under Prime Video, according to CNBC. Freevee launched in 2019 under IMDb, offering ad-supported programming through its app. After the shutdown, users will be able to stream Freevee content for free on Prime Video without needing a Prime membership. Amazon said the move is aimed at simplifying the viewing experience, a strategy it signaled last year. The transition comes months after the company introduced ads on Prime Video and began offering an ad-free option for an additional fee.
