00:00Hamas we've heard from them and they have actually stopped short of accepting Trump's proposal but says it is open to an agreement so there's positive signals if you want to look at it that way coming out of Hamas. What else is the militant group saying?
00:15They are currently saying that they're reviewing the proposal. Obviously this all happened today. Now with Trump's social media posting it's important to remember that social media posts are not concrete diplomatic solutions and we can get carried away with what he's saying and the rhetoric around that.
00:36So Hamas is said it's open to a ceasefire but they want the ceasefire with a guarantee that the war will end after the 60 days and that's currently not being given. We don't know if that's on the table or not but it doesn't seem to be.
00:54They want a permanent agreement that this war is going to be finished but Israel is actually opposed to this.
01:03They also want an agreement the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
01:09Now Hamas is effectively on their own with a weakened Iran after the events of last week the missile strikes.
01:17Iran were obviously one of their biggest allies. We have seen them weakened so they're unable to offer the support that Hamas enjoyed from them in the past.
01:27I think at the moment it's very much how many cards Hamas are holding when they go to the negotiation table.
01:34Obviously we spoke earlier about the hostages which I'm sure we'll speak about now. That's one of their biggest cards that they're holding.
01:40But yeah at the moment they have said they are ready and serious regarding reaching an agreement and ready to accept any initiative that clearly leads to the complete end of the war.
