The Iraqi Army has received its first two H225M Caracal multi-role transport helicopters, manufactured by the French company Airbus Helicopters. The aircraft, identified by serial numbers YI-521 and YI-522, are part of an initial contract for the delivery of 12 units.

According to the Iraqi military command, the new helicopters are expected to gradually replace the Russian-made Mi-17s currently in service. The decision represents not only an upgrade of the army’s rotary-wing fleet but also a strategic shift in the diversification of military suppliers.
