00:04in the city of Detroit. Let's talk about how and why.

00:11Hi, this is Mike Payne from A to Z Sports Detroit. Today we're going to talk about how the Detroit

00:14Lions are broadening the professional sports landscape in Detroit by helping to bring in

00:19two new professional teams in different professional sports leagues. First off,

00:25Sheila Ford Hamp and her husband, Steve Hamp, just last month were a big part of bringing in

00:31the Motor City Golf Club, which is part of the TGL League. This is a simulation-based golf league

00:38that is owned by Tiger Woods. I'm not a big golf guy. I can't tell you too much about how all of

00:44that works, but I can say that's just one big team that they're going to be bringing into Detroit.

00:49But now the other one is huge. On Monday, it was announced that the WNBA will be returning

00:55to the city of Detroit in 2029, and Sheila Ford Hamp and her husband, Steve, are on the ownership

01:03panel for that team. Not only are they on it, Jared Goff and his wife, Christian Goff, are also on it.

01:10Plus, there's other guys like Grant Hill and his wife, Tamia, and Pistons owner, Tom Gores,

01:15who's fronting the whole thing. They are going to be bringing back a Detroit WNBA team. We don't

01:21know what that team's going to be called just yet. The investors in this project did say that

01:25it could be the shock. They could be bringing that back, but we don't quite know. But what we do know

01:30is Ford Hamp and Goff, huge part of this ownership group. This is going to be a big deal for the city

01:37of Detroit. The WNBA has grown in popularity in massive leaps and bounds in the last couple of

01:43seasons, bringing back the potential Detroit shock. It's going to be big for the city. They're

01:48going to be much more popular than they were the first time they were around when they were a

01:52multiple championship squad. I, for one, cannot wait to get down to Little Caesars Arena to watch

01:57the shock play. I don't know if I'm going to go see the Motor City Golf Club. Again, I'm not a big

02:03golf guy, but I'm definitely a basketball guy, and I will definitely be in the building for the

02:07Detroit, hopefully shocks, first game at LCA in 2029. The Lions are a big part of what's happening

02:14in Detroit. The big part of the comeback that's happening in this city. Cannot wait to see where

02:19things go from here.
