With River Island closing, a high street staple for years, what do you think your local high street will look like in 5 years time?
Transcript
00:00hopefully more businesses maybe more local ones to support small business
00:05owners well if the government carries on as it is they're going to be even worse
00:09than they are now because the government is taking money out of the pockets of
00:13people who don't have that much but people who don't have that much spend it
00:18in the high street if you give money to people at the higher income groups they
00:23spend it in Ibiza or wherever they go for their holidays but poorer people
00:29spend any money they're given in benefits they spend locally there will there will
00:34be some sort of shops there what they will be I can't say for sure probably
00:38ones that and it can deal with like the seasonal decrease in population with all
00:45the students going home I think that's the thing we are the shops here are quite
00:50dependent on the students so I would think outside of term time business might be a
00:54bit difficult so hopefully something that can account for that would make high
00:58streets still a bit more relevant
