00:00We are absolutely delighted to be crowned best event this year for everything that we've done for anyone's screen on the green.
00:07You know, it's been running for a number of years now. Every year we've grown the event.
00:11Last year we had the incorporation of anyone's Tiny Toon, which was transformational for this space,
00:15really turning into a destination of play alongside the likes of Play Rebellion,
00:19which was our artistic installation, which kids really enjoyed throughout the summer.
00:24So a huge, you know, it is a huge effort by the whole team.
00:27And we are absolutely delighted to have been recognised nationally for the work that we do in the summer.
00:32So Screen on the Green was actually called Monument Movies, where there was two movies a week over at, surprisingly, the monument.
00:38And it just became such a bit of a following.
00:40And, you know, we really realised the potential that it had, but we knew that it had to go more than two movies a week.
00:46So that's when we moved over to Old Eldon Square. We were doing them daily at 12 and 6 p.m.
00:52And again, we've just been kind of a lot of the work that we do in the projects that we run are very much delivered based on public feedback.
01:01A lot of people wanted more movies through the day. So we've introduced that 3 p.m. showing.
01:04We've kept some of the 6 p.m. showings. And again, just because people love this space, we knew it brought people in,
01:09but we wanted to capture people for longer for them to enjoy the city that they live, work and play in.
01:14So that's when we developed what was one of the other quadrants, which was Play Rebellion, and then again on to Tiny Toons.
01:21So it is very much an evolutionary thing. Nearly hitting that 100,000 people milestone was huge for us.
01:27And we will continue to make it bigger and better as we always do.
01:30Screen on the Green, the Open Air Museum experience has been a staple of anyone's summertime schedule here in Newcastle for the last nine years
01:38and is one of the company's most popular events. The programme is designed to provide free, fun activities for families, visitors and workers in the city
01:47while increasing the footfall and supporting city centre businesses.
01:51Now, having won a national award, it highlights just how important the events are to the city,
01:57transforming a once known hotspot for anti-social behaviour into a destination for families and young people.
02:03So we're really excited. Screen of the Green is back again this year.
02:08We've installed it on the 30th of June and it's going to be here until the 31st of August.
02:12So we've got a long time for us to fill with lots of exciting things.
02:15So at the moment, we're showing Wimbledon on the screen, which will be running for the two weeks it's on.
02:19And then after that, we're going to be showing the Tour de France.
02:21We've also got some other little sporty bits as well.
02:24We're going to be popping in just to kind of bulk up that schedule.
02:26So there's something for everyone to enjoy.
02:28Then once the 21st of July hits, we're going to be starting with our film schedule.
02:33So that'll be two films a day as a minimum at 12 and 3 p.m.
02:37And then we'll also be showing some toddler films.
02:41So that'll be at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesdays.
02:43It's our toddler takeovers.
02:45And they'll be showing Julia Donaldson films.
02:47So it's perfect for the little ones to get involved in and get them introduced into a cinema environment as well.
02:52And then we're also going to be showing some blockbuster films on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
02:57which will be all big hitters over the last year.
