Bengaluru, July 02, 2025 (ANI): Congress MLA Ajay Dharam Singh on July 02 defended Congress MLA BR Patil’s “luck lottery” remarks about CM Siddaramaiah and said that he did not make any statement against CM Siddaramaiah. “He did not make any statement against the CM (Siddaramaiah). I saw that clip, in it, he says that it was a lucky lottery...Obviously, if you have to become the CM of a state, luck plays an important part...You need hard work, consistency, persistence and luck, a combination of everything. When it comes together, you become the Chief Minister of a state. So he's told that he's been lucky. There's nothing wrong in that...,” said Ajay Dharam Singh.
00:00I'm not making any statement against the CM. Even I saw that clip. In the clip he says that it was a lucky lottery in which he got. Obviously if you have to become the chief minister of a state. No, no. See if you have to become the chief minister of a state, luck plays a very important part. Today when you look at it, you need hard work, you need consistency, persistence, you need luck. Combination of everything when it comes together only you become the chief minister of a state.
00:26So he's told that he's been lucky. So there's nothing wrong in that.
00:33Obviously, see my father also became the chief minister way back in 1999. Also he was the KPCC president when the party decided just a couple of months before the elections that he should give it to Mr. S.M. Krishna. He gave it away.
00:46But like a very strong, staunch party man, he stood by the party and eventually in 2004 he became.
00:53So even Mr. Sidramaya, also he's become the deputy chief minister twice way back in 1996. Then again he became in 2004 when my father was the chief minister.
01:03He also became the deputy chief minister. So eventually he became the opposition leader and became the chief minister.
01:08So nothing wrong. He's really worked very hard and he's a mask leader across all three parties.
01:12Sir, Iqbal Ustam, Shiva Ganga and too many others for MLS are open debate for CM changes.
01:18See, we are a, we have one with a thumping majority. About 135 MLA's are there. Each MLA will have his own opinion.
01:29Now we cannot curtail anyone to say whatever they want to say.
01:34End of the day, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister also has told that the chief minister and the chief, and the chief minister and the deputy chief minister are one.
01:43We are in a very strong footing. We have delivered all the guarantees, all the promises. A lot of development work is happening. There's no two ways about it.
01:51Sir, almost 12 years completed in your government. Cabinet, which is also discounting. Were you aspirant for this?
01:58I'm definitely an aspirant. I was aspirant way back in 2018 when I should have become a minister.
02:06But nevertheless, whatever opportunity they're giving me, I'm doing it. I'm a staunch party man, just like my father.
02:14I'm biding my time, waiting for the right time to come. And I think whenever the reshuffle happens, the party high command and our senior leaders will definitely consider me and give an opportunity.
