00:00So yesterday, NHL free agency began around noontime, and it wasn't a very titillating class of free agents, I'll say that.

00:08But the Boston Bruins did their best to disappoint you as many ways as they possibly could.

00:13They signed a litany of bottom six forwards.

00:18They now have on their roster,

00:21Fraser Minton, Matthew Potra, Murat Husnadinov, Victor Arvidsson, Johnny Beecher, Tanner Janot,

00:27Mark Kaslik, Sean Corrali, Michael Acemont, and Fabian Lysel,

00:31all bottom six forwards at this current point in time.

00:34One of them will actually end up having to play right wing on your second line, which is insane.

00:38Well, they're hoping that they got them heading into an up year,

00:42which means they may have nine to ten goals per.

00:46Well, that would be an improvement for Tanner Janot.

00:48This is the one I'm pissed about, Greg.

00:50I could not get over this contract yesterday.

00:53Five years, three and a half million dollars a year,

00:57for a guy who does nothing but hit people.

01:00Did you not learn their lesson last time?

01:03Does he average seven goals?

01:04Yes!

01:05He had one season where he had 20 goals in Nashville five years ago.

01:11Wow.

01:11The Lightning then traded the world for him,

01:14and he has sucked ever since.

01:16He has had, at maximum, seven goals in a single season.

01:20He had 13 points last year,

01:23and you gave him three and a half million dollars.

01:27You could have, instead,

01:28gone a little bit younger,

01:29gotten a guy who had close to 30 points last year,

01:31and a guy like Andrew Mangiapane.

01:33Like, that would have been a better opportunity for you.

01:36Maybe a guy who could take a step in the right direction,

01:39similar to what you did with Morgan Geeky two years ago.

01:43Instead, you have one line.

01:45It is Geeky, Pasternak, Lindholm.

01:47And then after that, it's a disaster.

01:50It is, your second line right now, I think,

01:52would be Pavel Zaka, Casey Middlestad,

01:54and probably Victor Arvidsson.

01:56Like, that's what you're looking at right now,

01:58and you just, I understood the idea

02:01of giving one or two-year cheap money contracts

02:03to a lot of lower-level guys.

02:05It is a reset year.

02:06You want to get those contracts off the book

02:08going into the following year,

02:10so 2026-27,

02:12so that you can sign free agents

02:13in a better free agent class.

02:15Go off to McDavid.

02:16But then why are you giving Tanner Janot

02:19three and a half million dollars?

02:21This guy sucks.

02:23I don't know what we're doing.

02:24You don't pay fighters anymore in the NHL.

02:27You need to get faster.

02:28You need to be able to score.

02:29He does neither of those things.

02:31They are banking, I believe,

02:33on all of the improvement coming from Jeremy Swayman.

02:36Don Sweeney alluded to that yesterday.

02:39He's just a worse version of Trent Frederick.

02:41This is what infuriates me.

02:42And Jeremy Swayman should be better.

02:44You're absolutely right.

02:44And Don Sweeney in that regard should be right.

02:47But it's just like,

02:48I look at these guys and I'm like,

02:49at least with Mike Lacymont,

02:51two years, 1.45 million dollars.

02:53And he shoots the puck a zillion times.

02:56That's fine with me.
