00:00Could you please tell us what it was like working with Danny Boyle and Alex Garland?
00:03I had such a wonderful experience working with Danny Boyle and Alex Garland.
00:06They're both incredibly personable. Danny is a real leader in my eyes. Light-hearted,
00:12engaging, fun, clever. I think I'm going to be begging to work with Danny for forever.
00:17And was there kind of space for you to bring your own ideas to the character?
00:20Yeah, absolutely. I mean, we had like a two-week rehearsal period before we started filming,
00:24and we spent, I would say we spent a good week of that just kind of sitting,
00:28going through the script, reading scenes, speaking about the scenes,
00:32asking any questions that we had, giving our own instincts, Alfie included.
00:36You know, that was something that really struck me about Alfie when I met him,
00:39was that he was just so confident, so fearless. Danny was always open to interpretation.
00:44How did you find working with Alfie on set, obviously,
00:46with him just coming in as a new starter, essentially?
00:49Brilliant. I mean, we had an interesting dynamic because I play his mom, but actually
00:54Spike is often having to be the parental figure in the relationship. So there was, you know,
00:59a space that he had to command and he had to guide me and be tactile with me. And, you know,
01:04we had to kind of build that up. It made for a really kind of enriching experience. Also,
01:09just to see him kind of growing, you know, throughout the filming process. On a kind of baseline level,
01:14it is very much a coven of age story. And it was lovely to see him kind of finding himself throughout,
01:20throughout this process.
