00:00I don't know how much Kyle Tucker's going to cost,
00:03but it seems like the Cubs are at least interested
00:06if it doesn't get too excessive, what he's asking for.
00:10Well, it's going to get excessive.
00:11So if you don't want to do excessive, you're probably not going to get him.
00:14I've said this before.
00:15I'll stand by it.
00:16He's going to get a six in front of his number.
00:18He's going to get $600 million.
00:20Yeah, I mean, Guerrero got $500 million, and Tucker's a better player.
00:23Great defender, great arm, and they're just few and far between.
00:27When you're in your 20s like he is,
00:29he's going to age well.
00:30You can feel comfortable giving him a 10- or 12-year contract,
00:33and he's a complete player.
00:34There's nothing he can't do.
00:35You guys are witnessing it.
00:37I mean, he's an all-star player that hits for average, hits for power,
00:39steals bases, great defender, has a great arm.
00:42He does the full package.
00:43They're really hard to come by.
00:46And so, you know, if you're going to look at the price of Soto at $765
00:49and Guerrero at $500, I think it's fair to place him at $600.
00:52Now the question is, who is the team that's going to step up and pay him out?
00:56I don't have the answer to that.
00:57But I do believe it's going to end up in that area.
01:00I don't know if the Cubs will play in that area.
01:02Time will tell.
01:03I appreciate you saying that, Jim,
01:04because I remember you were quoted as saying that before the season even began.
01:08And we did wonder if that price had changed just because of what you're seeing
01:13in the market and what you're seeing out of teams.
01:15So I think even resetting that and saying you still think that's a number
01:19is valid information right now at this point.
01:21Well, yeah, and I think it's always about supply and demand, right?
01:26I mean, the exceptions are those position players in their 20s that you project
01:32that are going to age well and that they get paid.
01:35They just do.
01:36But the industry changed with Otani and Soto and Guerrero.
01:40The entire landscape changed.
01:42I mean, these players used to be $350 million, which would have been the normal rate.
01:47But that's not where we are anymore, and you can't sit there and deny it.
01:52This market will be limited.
01:54You know, that's the other part of this thing.
01:56There won't be a lot of teams playing at that number.
02:00There will only be a handful, two or three teams.
02:02But just remember this.
02:03It only takes one.
02:05It only takes one team to make that kind of offer.
