00:00Skeen's on the bump, trying to bounce back from arguably the worst performance of his short but successful MLB career.
00:07Last week, he gave up four earned in an inning for the first time in his career.
00:12Pittsburgh, a hefty home favorite today against St. Louis, minus 168.
00:17Now that updated Moneyline price, total seven and a half.
00:20How do you break down the matchup between the Buccos and the Redbirds?
00:23Yeah, a game I liked yesterday, too, to go over the total, Ben.
00:25It was only eight and a half.
00:26I told you before the game, Pittsburgh would play seven.
00:28They'd say, oh, I just need two runs out of St. Louis.
00:30That's fine.
00:31Yeah, St. Louis didn't even score yesterday.
00:32They were horrific at the plate.
00:34And you know what they get today?
00:35It's Paul Skeen's on the mound.
00:36And also, Paul Skeen's fresh off a start where he wasn't that good.
00:39So looking for a bounce back.
00:40But if you take a look at Skeen's last 45 days, impeccable, man.
00:43Even with those four, I think, earned runs he gave up over that last start here, a 1.58 ERA, which is spectacular.
00:50And you take a look at some of those analytical numbers, a 74 X fit minus number, whole fit right in.
00:55Good hitting conditions, though, by the way, in Pittsburgh today out at PNC.
00:5877-degree temperatures, light wind blowing out to left field, which should help.
01:02Palante on the mound, also not a bad pitcher.
01:04His last 45 days, an 89 X fit minus number.
01:09So if I look at last night, and the Pittsburgh bats are hot.
01:11Sometimes you just want to ride them.
01:13They do win this baseball game.
01:14But it is a heavy favorite.
01:16But I also look and say, I don't know if we're going to get a total.
01:19Because I think Skeen's will hold it down against that lineup for the Cardinals.
01:22And maybe coming back down to earth for the Pirates is scoring four runs in this game.
01:27That's seven and a half.
01:28I'm not sure we get to eight runs.
01:29But you know what?
01:30I probably would even look towards a first five-inning run line.
01:33Pittsburgh's staying hot on offense.
01:35They can scrape out two or three runs, possibly against Palante.
01:38I just think Skeen's has a chance for a really good bounce-back performance here and taking it the distance.
01:42Meaning seven innings pitched, maybe nine or ten strikeouts, and two to three runs maximum.
01:48Which would mean maybe a three to one, two to one victory here at the end of five innings.
01:51I like the Pittsburgh Pirates' first five innings run line in this game for the win.
