Steelers beat writer Alan Saunders doesn't think the Steelers will consider trading All-Pro pass rusher T.J. Watt.
Transcript
00:00A lot of folks in Washington are very interested in T.J. Watt.
00:05Schefter comes out and says a bunch of teams are calling about Watt.
00:09What have you heard?
00:11What is the latest?
00:13I mean, could Watt actually be moved?
00:15I mean, this is an all-time great player,
00:18but it seems like this contract thing is really at an impasse.
00:23I don't think the Steelers have any interest in trading T.J. Watt.
00:26But I would assume that it would have to be a hilariously bad deal
00:33for the other team, for them to even consider picking up the phone.
00:40Everything I've been told is that the Steelers have every intention
00:42to get a deal done.
00:44They're not far apart in terms of the total.
00:48There may be some arguments to be had about the length of the contract
00:52and how deep into the contract the guarantees go.
00:56I'm actually pretty sure that one is going to be a sticking point.
01:00But when the Steelers want to sign him, he wants to stay in Pittsburgh,
01:04and they're not that far apart on the money, you know,
01:08in terms of, like, average per year.
01:11And it's July 1st.
01:13You figure they're going to get there between now and the start of the season.
