00:01Working as a Playboy bunny was kind of edgy, kind of prestigious back in the 60s.
00:07Good food and drink, pretty girls, good entertainment.
00:11I felt like a superstar for nine hours a day.
00:15The bunny must always be correct and ready to smile however tired she is.
00:20But there was a lot of do's and don'ts.
00:24The bunnies had to be perfect. If they didn't have large breasts, they augmented them.
00:30And the Playboy club was full of powerful men.
00:34And even though most of these men might seem harmless, you never really know.
00:40The situation at the club was a time bomb waiting to explode.
00:45I think jealousy and betrayal can make us act irrational.
00:50She has no idea she's about to fall prey to her worst nightmare.
01:00It's a very beautiful relationship.
01:01The unfortunate relationship.
01:05Around six o'clock a frantic call came into the Georgia Baptist Emergency Operator.
01:23Emergency operator in the background there are sounds of a woman in distress
01:29The man was requesting an ambulance to the apartment of Jackie Hendrickson a playboy bunny
01:37When the officer arrived on the scene he went to the bedroom
01:43The person was already deceased
01:53Jackie Hendrickson was born Jacqueline Sandra Paul in Dallas, Texas
01:59Jackie as a child was hazel-eyed rosy cheeks and tended to be chubbier
02:05It can be tough as a young girl growing up with the beauty standards that they had in the 1960s
02:11Unfortunately, it's all too common for adolescent girls to be bullied for their appearance and feeling that lack of self-worth
02:17At such an early age can have a lasting consequence
02:21As she became more of a teenager. She definitely kind of grew into her figure got a little bit more self-confident
02:28Boys started paying attention to her
02:32So when Jackie graduates at 18 years old from high school as valedictorian
02:37She runs off to get married to Robert Hendrickson who was a little bit older than her and an Air Force cadet
02:44But the marriage was short-lived it only lasted for a few years
02:47So Jackie ended up moving to Atlanta
02:51Jackie started working as a substitute and while she did want to be a teacher
02:55I think she quickly realized that the pay wasn't gonna be enough for her to sustain herself
03:00That's when she comes across an ad
03:04She was a young single girl
03:06She was beautiful and I could definitely see why she wanted to sign up to be a Playboy bunny
03:10She must have felt so intrigued, you know working as a Playboy bunny was kind of edgy kind of prestigious back in the 60s
03:18You can feel like you've finally been told you're beautiful and you're sexy and that can be really rewarding
03:24Especially when you've grown up not feeling that way
03:28She tried out to be one of the original Playboy bunnies at the Playboy Club in Atlanta
03:32And she really embodied everything that Playboy wanted in a bunny at that time
03:47The first Playboy Club opened in 1960
03:50It was an iconic part of American history
03:52Walking into the Playboy Club was really like walking into another world
03:57You would go and you'd see beautiful women in bunny costume
04:00You'd take in a show, you'd get dinner and drinks
04:04The idea I think for Hugh Hefner was to make men feel like they could walk into the magazine
04:09Relaxed urban living, good food and drink, pretty girls, good entertainment
04:13It's an attempt as much as possible to kind of bring to life many of the notions that are popularized in the magazine
04:22Over the next five years 12 different clubs opened across the country
04:26And in 1965 they set their sights on Atlanta
04:32The Playboy Club coming to Atlanta was a really big deal
04:36In each city the Playboy Club really strove to provide the best customer service
04:43So when the Playboy Clubs were opening in the south there's a whole culture of politeness and warmth and you want to find women who embody that
04:50Keith Hefner who's Hugh's brother was the one who's interviewing and hiring
04:58I knew Keith pretty well he was up at the mansion all the time
05:02He reminded me of like an old movie star
05:09The interview process involved modeling a bikini
05:12And I had a french bikini that I could hold in this hand
05:18They said where's your bathing suit and I said here and he said you're hired
05:23You had a three by five card that you put your name on your address your birth date and why you wanted that job
05:31And I put I wanted to make money
05:35Jackie and I both were teaching and we both ended up being pushed toward the club almost
05:41By a lack of money in that profession
05:43We made a lot more money at the Playboy Club. It was definitely a difference
05:48It was 1300 girls interviewed and they hired 30 of us
05:54I was one of the original bunnies
05:57And Jackie was one of the original bunnies there too
06:01Not everybody of course is cut out to be the Playboy Bunny
06:05Not everyone feels comfortable wearing a one-piece bathing suit to work every day
06:10The bunny costume lifted you up and sucked you in all the right places
06:19But at the same time it's a very skimpy outfit and you've got to go out into this club wearing it in front of so many people
06:30Wearing these years takes me way back way back in time. I love them
06:34Sometimes we would have to put a bobby pin to make sure because all the moving around sometimes they could get loose and fall
06:47We had a cocky ears one had to be up one had to be like this
06:51It's almost like hearing a special song that takes you back to the event this
06:58Takes me back to that event and I'll put them on sometimes at home just to remind myself. I am pretty
07:04I'm so pretty
07:06I
07:08Met Jackie at the Playboy club
07:12We had a connection because we both had dark auburn hair
07:16I don't think hers was real mine wasn't real, but sometimes people would get us confused if they saw us on the floor
07:24Let's give it a try go along this way, okay, there we go low carry at the moment low carry
07:29Okay, faster training was really rigorous because they have to memorize the entire manual. There's a lot of rules
07:37Jackie seemed to be a real power and she was tough
07:40Quickly quickly quickly quick. I carry
07:45Reverse there was a lot of do's and don'ts no jewelry you can't lay your tray down
07:51Arm has got to be positioned at a certain angle your ears had to be a certain angle
07:56Just keep putting one foot in front of the other remember to smile remember do your bunny dip
08:11Jackie and all of us had to be perfect
08:15We had to pass inspection every day
08:18You had to brush your tail for 30 minutes with the hair had to be perfect makeup had to be perfect
08:26They did a weigh-in every monday if you gained three pounds or lost three pounds you could be suspended until either gained or lost it back
08:36For someone who like Jackie who has that history of insecurity about weight
08:42Imagine the pressure that that must have put on her
08:46But being a bunny could be beneficial
08:48Semi-regularly playboy magazine would do a pictorial featuring different bunnies from their clubs around the country
08:56In 1966 we heard they were going to be doing an issue on the bunnies of the south and we bunnies of dixie
09:05Some bunnies wanted to be featured in the magazine and different girls
09:10You know talking about how they they were going to try to be in there and maybe even be a centerfold
09:18So Jackie gets an opportunity to be photographed and interviewed for this bunnies of dixie spread
09:26This is the august 1966 issue featuring the bunnies of dixie
09:35You have a very cute photo of a playboy bunny at the door
09:39We couldn't wait to get it when that magazine came out
09:42We couldn't wait to get a hold of everybody was like grabbing it trying to see turning pages
09:47Now I remember one girl says oh my boobs are like pancakes
09:50I'm looking at all these photos and it's a pretty decent sized photo spread
09:55You have some topless photos a lot of lifestyle photos
09:59You can see a lot of the bunnies here fit that 1960s southern fresh-faced
10:07But they didn't publish Jackie's photo
10:10Her pictures didn't get into the magazine and she was very upset about it she wanted in there she felt very slighted
10:20Jackie was competitive i think that that would have been a blow to her ego
10:26Thinking your photos going to come out in the magazine and then having it be the one that's not must have been really hurtful
10:33Like what's wrong with me that they didn't pick my picture?
10:43So for her I think this message she's gotten is that she's not perfect
10:48She's okay enough for this but she's not perfect enough to be in the magazine
10:53And she's gonna go out to figure out how to be perfect
10:57Unaware she's about to fall prey to her worst nightmare
11:03You
11:07Now some people never stop playing with dolls even when they grow up especially if they're bunny dolls
11:19At the atlanta playboy club i felt like a superstar for eight hours nine hours a day
11:26You go in and put your costumes on your makeup bunny ears and you are it
11:31In 1967 the playboy club in atlanta has solidified itself as the it spot in the city
11:39Where you can rub elbows with the best people in town
11:44Everybody wanted to be there it was the place to be you know you you were really nothing socially unless you had a card my god
11:51I just remember stepping out on that floor
11:56Being happy knowing that i was going to meet all these important people that was shaping atlanta actors movie stars singers
12:04Whatever in town they were going to be in there
12:07The playboy club is like a home away from home for the busy and weary gentlemen of the town and from hundreds of miles away
12:14After all you don't exactly have this kind of service at home
12:18The playboy club was full of powerful men
12:21But bunnies were not allowed to date customers
12:25They were allowed to date top executives
12:27But not the customers because they wanted to create an aura around the bunnies and have them feel untouchable
12:32The customers could come in and fantasize about the bunnies, but they couldn't take them home
12:39Keith hefner explained it to us in training that he
12:43Definitely did not want the playboy club to be known as a pickup place that you could go in there and you know pick up a hot chick
12:52The bunnies might have been tempted to break the rules
12:55But even though most of these men might seem harmless you never really know
13:00One of those prominent members is dr. Warren brown he's a plastic surgeon in the city
13:10Dr. Brown was something of a prodigy he graduated medical school at 23
13:15He went on to do his surgery residency here at georgia baptist even had a fellowship at the mayo clinic
13:21So it was really impressive for him to do that all at a young age
13:23My dad was intelligent beyond the wildest dreams
13:29He wanted to achieve the highest level of anything he did
13:37My grandfather was I guess you could say like a super genius and he was extremely well known in atlanta
13:44And he was very charismatic
13:52My dad's nickname was the darling of georgia baptist
13:57I think he got it because he probably was a flirt
14:00Dr brown was exactly who hugh hefner would have created the playboy club for and he was a frequent visitor and a fan
14:08I
14:11For jackie the appearance of dr. Brown in the playboy club might have seemed like divine intervention
14:18Looking at all the photos of those who were chosen in the magazine one thing jackie did notice of course is that each of those women had that perfect playboy
14:27bosom
14:29I think that big bus were
14:32Important to probably all the bunnies if you got right down to it
14:35You wanted to have something that's pushed up out of your costume
14:41But the girls felt that because so much emphasis was put on the breasts at that time that if they didn't have large breasts that they augmented them
14:52Definitely having bigger breasts would help you get noticed in playboy and get pictured in playboy
14:58Getting breast implants in the 60s though was quite rare
15:05That didn't really become too common in playboy until the 1980s
15:10In fact before that have said that he used to tell the girls to go on birth control to get bigger boobs
15:15For jackie getting a boob job is about more than just transforming herself physically
15:30This is opening the door to new opportunities. Maybe she finally will be able to get featured in playboy
15:38And here's a man who has the ability to give her the body she thinks she needs and she has the opportunity to wait on him
15:45So in july of 1967 jackie moves forward with her plans of getting a boob job and she goes to dr brown to get it done
15:57After getting this major surgery done dr brown gives jackie a certain amount of time that she's supposed to take off work
16:06But jackie wants to show her boobs off right so she goes back to work earlier than scheduled
16:11I
16:12Actually, I actually did the same thing when I had my breast implants
16:15I was working at a pancake house in college and I went to do a shift like the next day or something and everybody thought I was such a zombie
16:22It's a painful surgery and you'll be kind of out of it for a couple days, but sometimes you overestimate yourself
16:30Because of the pressure on the boobs when you're having to lift those girls up there were complications
16:35Because you probably weren't supposed to do that
16:40So she calls dr. Brown because she's really worried about her complications
16:44And he agrees to meet with her at her apartment after hours to see what's going on
16:56So in this after hours appointment things go from professional to passionate it's pretty quickly and the two start a romantic
17:11interaction
17:13I
17:19I would always say if you were to date someone that was a member and it did happen
17:26You just wanted to make darn sure it was somebody worth losing your job over
17:31It doesn't take long for this relationship to really solidify and from then on they are seeing each other pretty much every day
17:37Just like the bunnies maintain an air of mystery sometimes that went for the clientele as well
17:51And he does have a secret dr. Brown confesses to Jackie that he's actually married with two kids
18:07So dr. Brown and his wife marjorie actually met when they were both undergrads
18:15My mom was a socialite
18:18She loved being in that element that was who she was
18:23They were members of the country club
18:27Our home was in a very prestigious area here in atlanta we lived on about seven acres
18:33It was spectacular my mom wanted it to be
18:38Mirrored after the governor's mansion here she wanted those enormous columns on the front
18:47And for whatever reason he thought it was okay to have an affair
18:53But that was really the way it was in the 60s
18:56You know I think a lot of men especially men who were more prestigious
19:00I think it was very commonplace for them to have someone on the side
19:07And I believe that my mom knew my dad was having an affair
19:11She would call and ask him where he was and when was he going to be home
19:16And sometimes he would answer and sometimes he wouldn't
19:21So I would think it would have been kind of lonely because he really wasn't home that much at night
19:27It was almost like with my mom, you know, you married the good girl and then you play around with the rest
19:46I'm sure marjorie would be embarrassed knowing that her husband has a mistress
19:52Any wife would feel terrible if her husband's having an affair
19:55Regardless of who sure it's worse that it's a playboy bunny
20:00And I think jealousy and betrayal can make us act irrational
20:05She was angry
20:08Because she's like what's wrong with me?
20:11Jackie was a little more down to earth in a sense
20:14In that you know because she liked fishing and hunting and doing those kind of things
20:20Which my mom would not have
20:23So she realized in some way she was being replaced
20:29To my grandmother image was extremely important she didn't want anyone to think anything bad was going on
20:36But I think it was everything for my mom to keep that perfect image
20:42The judgment would have been more than she could have handled
20:46And sometimes in the heat of the moment that can be a motive for murder
20:51So Jackie is now in a place where she found out that her very successful and highly coveted boyfriend is married
21:09And if her job finds out about the affair
21:11She is facing termination after going through great lengths to succeed at this job
21:18So she's at a crossroads in a lot of different ways
21:30But dr. Brown tells Jackie that his marriage to his wife marjorie is not really a happy one
21:37Or that it's gonna end soon that jackie's the one he really loves
21:42That's kind of a cliche when a married man is having an affair he always says he's gonna leave the wife and rarely does
21:51She wants to see where it goes so she continues the affair
21:54But there's this rising tension that jackie must feel being hidden
21:59And jackie really starts to have a hard time at work
22:13So in october of 1967 tensions at the playboy club reached a boiling point for jackie
22:20She gets into this interaction with a bartender
22:23We had a certain order of how you had to order drinks and which order they came in
22:32Either she was off game that day
22:35But she ordered wrong and the bartender which they did i had it done to me one time
22:40They take the booze and they just pour it all over the tray
22:43Which means you have to go to the back of the line start over
22:46I can envision jackie getting into a fight with the bartender because I did it myself so often
22:55He was not a nice man
22:58She was angry and jackie did have a temper
23:03But I think there's a lot more going on then was just her argument with the bartender that night
23:09so jackie walked out
23:12She quit
23:16When jackie quit she wanted dr brown to take care of her
23:22So dr brown actually does come in and save her in a way he gives her a job in his medical office as an office assistant
23:29But insists that she needs to work under her maiden name sandra paul
23:33So that nobody will make any connections about what her previous employment was
23:38She does so well that dr brown actually trains her to be a medical assistant
23:46And he decides to move her into the top floor of a 64 unit complex that he owns
23:55She then starts managing the complex that she's also living in
23:59She's taking rent she's managing complaints. She's setting up maintenance calls
24:04Jackie's making yourself indispensable. She's managing this apartment complex. She's working in his office. She's his medical assistant
24:11She's going on after hours calls
24:13She starts to see herself as his real-life partner
24:16She even buys two matching wedding bands for them both to wear
24:24Every single aspect of his life she's a part of it except those promises
24:28He made at the beginning that he was gonna leave his wife one day aren't happening
24:32So at this point dr brown and jackie have been dated for almost two years
24:38Jackie of course has the ability to play house with dr brown, but she doesn't get the big house the socialite lifestyle
24:45The access to the elite membership clubs and all of these things that his actual wife marjorie gets and that's something that she really wants
24:53As Jackie starts to put pressure on dr brown to do what he said he's gonna do
25:05Maybe divorce his wife. He really pulls away
25:10So it's the opposite of what she wants
25:13And dr brown is not exactly giving up his family life
25:17He has his wife marjorie and they're living this really elaborate life in atlanta
25:23That's really important to both him and marjorie
25:27So everyone in this love triangle had a lot to lose
25:30For dr brown it was his family and his reputation
25:34For marjorie it was everything she had not only her kids but her status her income
25:41And for jackie
25:43It was her sanity
25:47So this is a breaking point moment for dr brown
25:50Where a lot of the things that he has worked really hard to attain both in his personal and professional life
25:57Are now at risk?
26:00He wants to have the best of both of those worlds without having to give up either
26:04But he can't
26:06Whatever he decides will be really hard to come back from
26:09On february 19th 1969
26:27Someone makes an urgent call to georgia baptist hospital requesting a negative blood and an ambulance right away
26:33And instructs them to prepare for a gunshot victim
26:42In the background there's sounds of a woman in distress
26:44When the officers arrived on the scene he went to the bedroom
26:58And found dr warren brown
27:08And he had a gunshot wound to the upper chest under his armpit
27:13Dr. Brown was already deceased
27:27The female wasn't jackie hendrickson
27:30The room was just in complete disarray
27:39There were clothes
27:41The bed was unmade
27:43Her pocketbook had been turned inside out
27:47Contents were strewn all over the floor
27:49And there were four syringes found in close proximity to the body
27:57And jackie related that the doctor had instructed her to get syringes out of his medical bag
28:03And began to try to aspirate fluid from his lungs
28:09She was trying to save his life
28:13She was giving him mouth to mouth to try to restore the breathing
28:20But that ultimately proved not to be successful
28:26Then jackie related
28:30It was her
28:32She shot dr brown
28:40She said that it had been an accident
28:43She was moving a gun from one location to another
28:46And that he had grabbed her arm and the gun discharged accidentally
29:08The night my dad was killed
29:09I remember my brother just saying our dad is dead
29:16And mom was just pleading and crying please walk through that door please come home
29:25And that would have been when my innocence was shattered
29:28And it shattered our whole family
29:31Jackie at the police station is really cooperative
29:42She's explaining how she met dr brown as a playboy bunny
29:46How they quickly fell in love
29:48The detectives treated it as an accidental shooting
29:53They gave her free reign to say whatever she wanted to.
29:57And she related the details of their relationship
30:00and her belief that they were to be married
30:03and he was going to divorce his wife and so forth.
30:08Jackie explained that on that day,
30:10she essentially had the day off.
30:16And Jackie gets a call from her friend
30:18who says that she had visited Dr. Brown's office after hours
30:22to make an appointment.
30:24And while she was there,
30:26she saw Dr. Brown's secretary looking sort of disheveled
30:29and noticed that Dr. Brown had lipstick on his forehead.
30:35For Jackie, that was a bombshell.
30:37Then around 5.30 p.m.,
30:48she heard Dr. Brown coming into the apartment.
30:52And Jackie was sitting on the edge of the bed
30:54waiting to confront him about his infidelity.
30:57When she confronted him,
31:04Jackie indicated that Dr. Brown blew up.
31:13Jackie, in her statement,
31:15painted a picture of Dr. Brown being out of control, angry.
31:20That he was cursing.
31:22I understand that he and Jackie did do some hunting
31:31and her apartment was full of guns.
31:37And then there was a struggle for a gun
31:40and the gun discharged.
31:45The evidence at the scene
31:54was very consistent
31:55with her claim of accidental shooting.
32:00The powder on the cuff
32:02of the shirt of Dr. Brown
32:04would indicate someone perhaps holding a hand
32:07over the gun
32:08at the time it was fired
32:10or in close proximity to the gun.
32:12So it fit into her argument
32:15that he had grabbed her hand
32:17and it discharged accidentally.
32:27I first heard about Dr. Brown being killed
32:30early every morning
32:31when I woke up to the news.
32:34I personally think that it was an accident.
32:37I don't think she would do that on purpose
32:38because she would know what her future would be
32:41if she shot him.
32:42She knows it.
32:44And she loved him.
32:46She loved him and she wanted to save him.
32:48It was one of those,
32:49oh my God, what have I done?
32:50But interestingly enough
33:00during the investigation
33:01detectives examined the revolver
33:04that was used to kill Dr. Brown.
33:07It was a five-shot revolver
33:11and there were two empty shells
33:14in the revolver itself
33:16meaning that the gun had been shot twice.
33:24It's highly unlikely
33:25that it were to go off accidentally
33:27twice.
33:37Jackie swears that this was an accident.
33:42She says she absolutely did not intend
33:45to pull the trigger.
33:47But there was one bullet
33:50that had struck Dr. Brown
33:52and there was a second gunshot
33:57in the door.
34:02And the state crime laboratory
34:04examined the revolver.
34:06They had said that it would take
34:07nine pounds of pressure
34:09to cause that trigger to be pulled
34:12and the hammer to fall
34:14on the cartridge.
34:16Nine pounds is a significant amount
34:18of trigger pull.
34:20We figured that
34:22with that amount of trigger pull
34:24Jackie Hendrickson
34:25could not have accidentally
34:27shot Dr. Brown.
34:31And to know that you had to pull it
34:33so hard to fire it
34:34not just once but twice
34:35there was something in her
34:37that wanted him dead.
34:39Detectives then spoke
34:43with Jackie's friend
34:44who confirmed that she went
34:46to Dr. Brown's office
34:47that day after hours
34:49and saw Dr. Brown
34:51with this kiss on his forehead
34:52and that she told Jackie
34:55about this interaction.
34:56The friend says
35:03Jackie was extremely jealous
35:06of Dr. Brown
35:07and her response
35:11to learning that there was
35:13an affair going on
35:14was that she was angry
35:17and perhaps violently so.
35:21When she found out
35:22that he was one
35:23that had wandering eyes
35:25that really lit the fire.
35:29And she made the comment
35:31that she was going to whip
35:33some bitch's ass
35:35and that the friend
35:38might have to come get her
35:39in jail because of that.
35:50Jackie in her statement
35:52doesn't portray any of that.
35:56She doesn't go into any depth
35:59about the anger
36:00that she had
36:01toward Dr. Brown.
36:03She described it
36:05as a terrible argument.
36:10It was completely self-serving.
36:12And the evidence indicated
36:17it went further than that.
36:19This situation
36:21with Jackie and Dr. Brown
36:22was a time bomb
36:23waiting to explode.
36:26And this set the fuse
36:28to the time bomb.
36:29The case made big headlines.
36:41It didn't say
36:42who she was or anything
36:43other than
36:44ex-playboy bunny
36:44had killed her lover.
36:47Because there was
36:48a Playboy bunny involved
36:49that makes it bigger news
36:51in the community.
36:52It adds that element
36:52of salaciousness.
36:55This case was sensational
36:57in Atlanta news.
36:58It was a Playboy bunny.
37:00It was a famous
37:01plastic surgeon.
37:03It was a well-to-do family.
37:06A shooting, affairs.
37:08You know, it was everything
37:09that makes a shocking,
37:11sensational story.
37:12And especially
37:12the time period.
37:14Atlantans were
37:15enamored with it.
37:17The trial began
37:19on June 3rd, 1969
37:21and it was
37:22an all-male jury.
37:24So we have Jackie
37:26who's this picture-perfect
37:27Playboy bunny
37:28sitting in the courtroom
37:29with an all-male jury
37:31trying to figure out
37:32if the murder of Dr. Brown
37:33was premeditated
37:34or an accident.
37:38I think one of the things
37:40that we really had to overcome
37:41was the sympathy
37:43for Jackie
37:44by the jury.
37:46I mean, here
37:47was a girl
37:48that thought
37:49and apparently
37:50honestly believed
37:51that this man
37:53was going to leave
37:53his wife
37:54and his children
37:55and marry her
37:56and she was going to be
37:56rich and happy
37:57the rest of her life.
37:59Dr. Brown
38:00was not going to be looked at
38:02as a likable person.
38:05But the theory
38:06that we had
38:07was that she was
38:08extremely jealous
38:09and she really
38:13at that point
38:14began running
38:15out of control.
38:18Jackie Hendrickson
38:19in her testimony
38:20portrayed herself
38:21not as the
38:22angry, vindictive person
38:25but we argued
38:27that it was murder.
38:30But the jury found
38:31Jackie Hendrickson
38:32guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
38:34The jury imposed
38:38a sentence
38:38of five years.
38:42That might be
38:43considered light
38:44in most situations
38:46but here
38:48you've got
38:48a sympathetic
38:49defendant
38:50and I just think
38:52that 12 men
38:53got back there
38:54and they figured
38:55this girl
38:55didn't deserve
38:56more than five years
38:57for what she did.
38:58I think
39:06she kind of
39:07got off easy
39:07if I'm being honest.
39:09I think she deserved
39:10way more time
39:11for taking someone's life
39:12and taking a man
39:13away from his wife
39:15and two young children.
39:18I didn't think
39:18it was an accident
39:19at all.
39:20I really think
39:21she was angry
39:21looking back on things.
39:23I believe my dad
39:24was going to stay
39:25with my mom.
39:27I think the amount
39:28of time
39:28he had already
39:29been with Jackie
39:29the honeymoon period
39:30was over
39:31and I almost wonder
39:33if he was trying
39:34to find a way out
39:36but unfortunately
39:38this was a fatal
39:39attraction.
39:45My mom had to
39:46sell the house.
39:49She was depressed
39:50the rest of her life.
39:52She never got over it
39:53and it tore us apart.
39:55From a very young age
39:58I knew that my
39:59grandfather passed away
40:00when my mom
40:00was really little
40:01and I knew
40:03that it involved
40:04a Playboy bunny
40:05and I always thought
40:06that Playboy bunnies
40:07were really cool.
40:09I grew up watching
40:10the girls next door
40:11and I wanted to be
40:12a Playboy bunny
40:13at one point in time
40:13as crazy as that
40:15might sound.
40:16I think Playboy bunnies
40:18are really beautiful
40:18and successful
40:20and smart.
40:21I think that Jackie
40:23just was a bad one.
40:26If Jackie had been
40:27the true Playboy bunny
40:29and not fraternized
40:30with the customer
40:31any customer
40:32this would never
40:34have happened.
40:38This story had so many
40:40twists and turns for me
40:41and things I could relate to
40:42you know
40:42feeling like you're
40:43not good enough
40:44if you don't make the cut
40:45to be in the magazine
40:46and being in a relationship
40:47where you feel like
40:48you're not being treated right.
40:50So it's hard not to have
40:52some empathy
40:53for Jackie's story
40:54when you think about it
40:55but the turn it took
40:57was so incredibly tragic
40:58and inexcusable
41:00and at the end of the day
41:01you have to remember
41:02there's some children
41:03out there
41:03who lost their father
41:04and there's no excuse
41:05for that.
41:12Adrienne was found
41:13unresponsive.
41:14We agreed immediately
41:15it was murder.
41:17The one person
41:18that benefited
41:19from her death
41:20whether he wanted it
41:21or not
41:22was Hugh Hefner.
41:23I think Hefner
41:24must have been terrified.
41:26Hugh Hefner
41:26basically had
41:27an X on his back.
