00:00I have people on X coming at me.
00:02Well, how come the people in the NBA and the NFL don't care?
00:05Because they're not signing the biggest deal of their life for $32 million only.
00:10Think about it.
00:11If you're making $32 million, that's your last contract.
00:14This will be his last contract.
00:15Dude's going to be like 43 when it's all said and done.
00:17Right?
00:18He probably won't even last that long, and the Panthers just figure whatever.
00:20It's not a lot of money, so we'll worry about it down the road.
00:23But if you're getting like $32 million, would you want to say,
00:27okay, I could play here, I could play in Boston,
00:31but I'm going to make $6 million more to play on this better team in warm weather,
00:36and I'll keep the $6 million instead of losing it.
00:41All right, let's do the math.
00:42Add it up for another player.
00:44So Sam Bennett just got $8 million per for like eight years,
00:47so let's do the math on that.
00:48If he's saving 20%, let's say, from playing somewhere else,
00:51and that's Boston.
00:53That's not like Toronto or something or Vancouver.
00:56Right?
00:56They're getting hit even more.
00:58With the tax.
00:59So like if you don't think that like it's, if that's relevant,
01:02then, you know, you're either like a billionaire,
01:05and I don't think we have any billionaires tuning into the program,
01:08or you're naive, or, you know, or dumb.
01:11Right?
01:12So there's, you know, there's a couple of possibilities there,
01:14but like people, oh, no, no, the taxes.
01:17No, no, it's overblown, the taxes.
01:19It's overblown.
01:20What's overblown about it?
01:21I just gave it a number.
01:22Brad Marchant just saved $6.4 million by playing with the Panthers.
01:26If he would have done the same deal with the Maple Leafs,
01:29he probably would have given up about $8 million of that instead of the $6.
01:33Right?
01:34Like, add it up.
01:35Like, it's not, like, you don't have to be an economist to figure it out,
01:38but they have an advantage.
