00:00I got to tell you, like, watching Game 5 in Toronto and Game 7 in Toronto, 12-2 in goals, you talk about, you know, belt to ass.
00:12I have never seen anything worse in my life for a franchise.
00:16Seven straight Game 7 losses for the Leafs.
00:20And you saw Marner lighten up his teammates after they gave up the third goal.
00:24It smells to me like he's out of there.
00:27And what a disappointment they are.
00:30There'll be a lot of changes in Toronto, and it has to be done.
00:34It's so difficult when you have a really good team, but you fall short all the time.
00:38I think we see this as, you know, anyone who follows the Buffalo Bills, right?
00:42What are you going to do?
00:43Are you going to trade Josh Allen?
00:45No, right, even though you're not winning.
00:47So it's a really tough spot that the Leafs are in.
00:50But it's almost, I don't know, Scott, like, Baruba didn't have an answer for after the game.
00:56When he was asked, they said, what's the most disappointing?
00:59What do you take away from this series and what you just said?
01:02He goes, I don't understand Game 5 and Game 7, right?
01:05Like, you could talk like people are all the Leafs are terrible.
01:07Well, they weren't terrible on Friday when they beat the state-defending Stanley Cup champions in their own rink, right?
01:13And then they go home, and then they go home, and it's the same thing all over again.
01:19You know, Scott, it's, I've never seen anything like this.
01:22We talked about Hellebuck and the Winnipeg Jets, how they were dominant at home, and they just couldn't win on the road.
01:29And now you have the Toronto Maple Leafs, Scott, where it's the opposite.
01:33Like, if that, I knew it.
01:35I knew it going in, and I can't, you know, I ended up taking a Leafs last night because I'm like, you know what?
01:40Maybe they can fall ass backwards and, like, shock the world and actually do this.
01:44But I kind of, you know, I said it all week last week.
01:47I said, no, they'll win on the road, and then they'll get lit up at home.
01:50They'll choke again at home.
01:51So you said that all week, and then you went and bet on them?
01:53I bet on the Leafs last night.
01:56You had the Leafs losing game seven for a month.
01:59Yeah, you know what, though?
02:00I got caught up, and I'm like, ah, this is it, you know?
02:03This is it.
02:04This is the first time.
02:06Yeah, it was a big fail.
02:07It was.
02:08And I had the Jets on Saturday.
02:10I went down with the ship with the Jets.
02:12I had Dallas.
02:13No, the Jets died on their sword, though, unlike the Leafs.
02:16You know what I'm saying?
02:17Like, the Jets is like, hey, you guys died on your sword.
02:20They can't win on the road.
02:21I don't care who died.
02:23They just can't win on the road.
02:24Like, they tried to sell us that, you know, it's horrible what happened.
02:28His father died.
02:29But they tried to sell us that that was, from the minute the game started,
02:33they ran with it, and they had Leah Hextall doing it.
02:36They had the announcers doing it.
02:37They had players being interviewed about it.
02:40And they had to win one for the Gipper.
02:42And it just didn't happen.
02:44No, they fell.
02:45It was a heartbreaker.
02:46I actually felt for them.
02:47I'm not even a Win-It-Pig Jet fan.
02:49But the Dallas Stars are good.
02:51But, listen, you can argue we have the best teams, right?
02:54Carolina is, like, a really, really good team.
02:56Nobody really knows who's on them.
02:58Yeah, like, and Florida.
03:00Florida are just damn good.
03:01Like, I've underestimated Florida over the years.
03:03And, like, they're on the verge of going to their third straight Stanley Cup final.
03:06That's not easy to do.
03:08Like, you know what I mean?
03:09And that's something, too, as far as the Leafs are concerned.
03:11And not to make excuses for the Leafs, but Paul Maurice brought it up after the game last night.
03:15And I think he's a little sympathetic to it because he used to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs.
03:20But he said, you know, I know what you guys are like here.
03:23And I know that they're getting crushed right now.
03:26They're the worst team in the world.
03:28And, you know, they're terrible.
03:30And Maurice said, he goes, you know, he goes, we're a pretty good team, right?
03:34And he goes, they just took us seven games.
03:36And he goes, we're pretty good.
03:37And I like what he gets.
03:40And Maurice goes, and he goes, I'll tell you what.
03:42We played well.
03:43He goes, we played very good hockey in this series.
03:46So he goes, all this stuff about the Leafs being terrible is idiotic.
03:50But we get how it works.
03:52It comes past failure, Scott, get attached to modern teams.
03:57Just point blank.
03:58Right?
03:59Like, the Buffalo Bills live Scott Norwood's missed field goal.
04:03Like, when they lose in the playoffs, it's like it happened again.
04:06It has nothing to do with a lot of players on the team, but it does.
04:10Right?
04:11There's certain franchises where it just starts, like, you're part of it.
04:15And that's the Leafs.
04:16So, you feel, and I get it.
04:19I get it.
04:20Like, you sort of blame, like, 55 years of failure on the current team all the time.
04:26You know what I mean, Scott?
04:27I've done it.
04:28I used to really not like Ryan Fitzpatrick when he was the quarterback in the Bills.
04:32I was like, this son of a bitch, another interception.
04:34Like, normally I'm raw, raw.
04:36No, no, no, I like my guy.
04:37I was like, dude, oh, oh, you know what I mean?
04:40And I realized I was just blaming him for the Bills sucking.
04:44It's not his fault.
04:45You know what I mean?
04:46He's just another long line of guys that suck with us.
04:48Right.
04:49You know what I'm saying?
04:50No.
04:51Yeah, you know, I don't want to get too psychological deep here,
04:53but the Leafs don't suck, but the pain and the constant failure, it adds up, and it boils over.
04:59I totally get it.
05:01As far as Marner is concerned, listen, I've been saying all along he's going to be a Pittsburgh Penguin,
05:05except there's going to be other teams that want him.
05:08And, you know, let's look at this, too.
05:10Tax-free state, guys.
05:12Right?
05:12Tax-free states in the NHL.
05:15They're kingpins.
05:15We've talked about it a lot.
05:17Players in other leagues.
05:18Texas, Tennessee, Florida.
05:20Yes, dude, they've won four of the last five Stanley Cups,
05:23and they're probably going to win this one.
05:24It's going to be a tax-free state again.
05:25You think it's by coincidence?
05:26Guys, look at Rantanen.
05:28Rantanen didn't want Colorado.
05:31Got set to Carolina.
05:32No, no, no.
05:33Oh, you know, tax-free Texas sounds good.
05:35Texas is pretty nice all of a sudden.
05:37So all these teams, oh, no, no, yeah, but Texas, okay.
05:41So I'm just saying this with Mitch Marner right now.
05:44I know that Kyle Dubas is going to want to sign him to Pittsburgh,
05:46but I wouldn't be surprised if Marner ended up on the Vegas Golden Knights.
