00:22during which the bilateral relations will be reviewed and also discuss various ways to stand
00:31on and deepen valid relations and rule prime minister will have a one-on-one meeting with
00:36his counterpart then there will be a banquet dinner in honor of honorable prime minister
00:43the next day prime minister will be addressing the parliament and he also will be interacting
00:49with the indian community there which is about 15 000 in number let me put this in the context
01:00the president john ramani mahama has just assumed office in about january of this year after a
01:09landslide victory which is why the visit assumes importance early in his tenure honorable prime
01:16minister will be visiting ghana so it will help in the continuity as well as deepening the
01:23relationship and to discuss various ways to further strengthen the relationship
01:30president bahama is no stranger he has been to india in the past particularly for the india africa forum
01:36summit in 2015 and there have been various occasions the two leaders that met in the past as well
01:42in india's relations with ghana are historical in the seven decades of a relationship it has evolved to
01:50multi-faceted we took up the cause of ghana in the u.n uh much before it won independence in 1957
02:03and we have maintained close relationship in the multilateral forum on various issues that are
02:14important for the global south both the countries will work towards boosting the economic cooperation
02:22and this is very important to note that ghana is undergoing a deep economic restructuring especially
02:31it has undergone the imf conditionalities almost 17 times so the economic agenda will dominate the talks
02:40you know the bilateral trade between india and ghana is about three billion dollars in favor of ghana
02:49because of the large imports of gold our investments in ghana are about two billion most both private sector
02:57wise which is about a billion dollars and the second half we have lines of credit and the bias credit
03:05activities and projects have been undertaken we're very strong uh cooperation in the capacity building
03:11under high tech and that is continuing to be stronger and deepened
03:18during the visit there will be few focus items will be agriculture where the ghana leader the president is
03:27keen to engage with india he is also keen on the vaccine uh development creating a vaccine hub in ghana
03:34for not just ghana but also the west africa context defense cooperation will become uh an
03:41important item on the agenda and the critical minerals and the digital public infrastructure
03:50few moses mou's memorandum understandings are likely to be concluded
03:55but we still do not have clarity as which of those but our understanding is that negotiations are still
04:01undergoing ongoing ongoing in ghana with our team we have most probably in the joint commission
04:09which will be renewable renewed traditional medicine in ayurveda the
04:16cep cultural exchange program
04:19renewed and standards but we will get details closer to the visit when it is being fine-tuned
04:26there after i'm going to jump now to the last leg of undule prime minister's visit to namibia because
04:34that is another country that i deal with undule prime minister will visit namibia on 9th july
04:43and this visit is also important it's coming after 27 years
04:47and the current president who is natumbo nandi inviter has assumed office in march this year which is
05:01why the visit happening so early in our tenure is very useful to renew the relationship at the same time
05:10deepen our economic engagement with namibia the program will have a ceremonial welcome
05:18honorable prime minister will pay homage to dr sam nazuma there will be delegation level talks one-on-one
05:26discussions and he will also address the parliament the substance of the relationship is again
05:33as you know that india and namibia have been a very strong relationship for a very long time
05:40historical context the independent struggle we recognized namibia long before it got independence
05:47we took up its cause in the unga in 1946 and also allowed to set up a diplomatic mission
05:56in india in 1986 even before it got independence in 1990 the bilateral relations are very hard wide
06:05ranging and let me focus on the trade here it is 600 million marginally in favor of india our investments
06:14are about 800 million mostly in mineral resources like zinc and diamond processing you all are aware that
06:26india had taken a few cheetahs from namibia and relocated kuno national park that phase had very
06:39successfully been implemented in the development cooperation area the capacity building defense
06:47cooperation defense training of the personnel of namibia the center for excellence of the information
06:53technology that we have set it up then most importantly what's going to happen during the
06:57visit is the unified payment uh interoperability the technology agreement being signed have already
07:06been entered between the central bank of namibia and the npci so this will take forward and that we
07:12believe is a very important uh development in our relationship namibia is a very resource rich country
07:21it has natural resources of uranium copper cobalt rare adds in large numbers lithium graphite tantalum
07:29and all of these are of interest to us in the recent times namibia has also discovered new oil fields
07:34there again going to be a broad understanding on the partnership in hydrocarbons namibia is also keen
07:41to engage with us in agriculture and pharma and we will be exploring uh india's low-cost solutions like dpi
07:49janausha the traditional medicine ayurveda you have to understand in a broader context how
07:55important is partnering africa we have done the india africa forum summit three in 2015 we will be very
08:02soon doing india africa forum summit four and in that context engaging with africa with both individual
08:09countries and the eu are very important africa in recent time has also evolved it's become more
08:15aspirational it wants manufacturing to happen in the country and it wants value addition to happen
08:22in the country the africa-wide free trade continent is another great opportunity to engage with africa
08:26so we have to keep this at the back of our mind dealing with africa there are lots of opportunities
08:32and we need to uh to look at this with more keenness let me now touch upon uh under the prime minister's
08:40visit to to rio uh the 17th brick summit is taking place on sixth and seventh and will prime
08:48minister will arrive on the fifth evening but the main program is on the sixth as you know the format is
08:55very clear there are full members which are 10 there are about 12 partner countries there are eight
09:04invited countries at the head of state at a government level and there are seven heads of regional and
09:09and multilateral bodies the theme of the rio summit is strengthening global south cooperation
09:17for inclusive and sustainable governance the program on the sixth includes the first agenda item the
09:25reform of the global governance where only the full members will participate and thereafter there is
09:33the second item on the agenda the peace and security which is in the working lunch format where
09:38the leaders will discuss uh the the the agenda item and all of this will be captured in the leaders
09:47statements which will be come out or will be seen as deliverables post lunch the third item on the
09:55agenda is strengthening multilateralism economic financial affairs and artificial intelligence
10:01later that evening will be in official reception and all the leaders will be participating the next
10:08day which is on the 7th july the fourth item of the agenda is environment cop 30 and global health
10:16as you are aware that brazil will also be hosting cop 30 later in the year in november which is why climate
10:23change and cop issues become very important as you know the the bricks process is led by the chair
10:31and they set the agenda but the decisions are in a consensus-based format we are hopeful that
10:39there will be four deliverables although discussions are continuing still at the shared part of the
10:44social level the leaders declaration the leaders statement on global governance and artificial intelligence
10:51the leaders framework declaration on climate finance and bricks partnership for elimination of
10:58socially determined busy diseases there will also be in addition four reports uh that will be submitted to
11:06the leaders one the deliberations happen during the national security advisors level the business council
11:14meetings that would have happened before that the woman's business alliance report and the civil council report
11:22as you know that all these discussions in the last few months across various platforms and working groups
11:29will find convergence in the declaration of the leaders which will be endorsed by the leaders during that time
11:37both at the sherpa and the social level there have been intense discussions that have taken place
11:42what we also notice that the brazil's agenda more or less is in capturing encapsulating the ideas of the global south
11:51and these are more or less in alignment with india's provisions and lastly india will be
11:59holding the chair of the bricks next year and which is why in this context honorable prime minister's visit
12:05is even more important i pause at this stage and if there are any questions later and we will come back
12:12thank you very much over to you
12:22you
