"I'd also say to the Israeli embassy: get your own house in order"Health Secretary Wes Streeting says he wishes the Israeli embassy would "take the violence of their own citizens towards Palestinians more seriously".
Transcript
00:00This wasn't just about the people on stage.
00:02The Israeli embassy said last night
00:04that when such messages are delivered
00:07before tens of thousands of festival-goers
00:10and met with applause,
00:11it raises serious concerns about the normalisation
00:14of extremist language and the glorification of violence.
00:20This was as much about the audience
00:21as it was about the performers, wasn't it?
00:24Well, I'd say two things in response to those words
00:27from the Israeli embassy.
00:28Firstly, I do think that if I take the equivalent
00:33of the war in Ukraine,
00:36I'm unequivocal about which side of that war I'm on.
00:39I want Ukraine to win.
00:40Would I be celebrating or chanting
00:43for the death of Russian soldiers?
00:45No, I want to see an end to the war
00:46and I want to see an end to the conflict.
00:50I'd also say to the Israeli embassy,
00:53get your own house in order
00:54in terms of the conduct of your own citizens
00:56and the settlers in the West Bank.
00:59So, you know, I think there's a serious point there
01:02by the Israeli embassy I take seriously.
01:05I wish they'd take the violence of their own citizens
01:07towards Palestinians more seriously.
01:08more seriously.
01:19Yeah.
