00:00Here's one reason why you wouldn't last in the final days of the Inca Empire.
00:04In the 1570s, the Spanish conquistadors were on their way to plunder the Inca capital of Cusco.
00:11The Inca emperor at the time, Tupacomaru, was desperately trying to hold on to his empire.
00:17He had heard rumors that the Spanish were beheading people in the streets and throwing their bodies into the river.
00:22And he knew that if they reached Cusco, they would do the same.
00:26So he assembled a group of elite soldiers to stop the conquistadors.
00:30But it wasn't enough.
00:32The Spanish were too powerful.
00:34They overwhelmed the Inca soldiers and captured the city.
00:38As the conquistadors looted and pillaged through Cusco, Tupacomaru fled into the mountains.
00:44He was eventually captured and executed, and his head was cut off and put on a pike as a warning to other would-be rebels.
00:50You wouldn't have lasted because you were an Inca sympathizer.
00:54The Spanish hated anyone who supported the Inca, and they killed many of them.
00:58You would have either been killed or forced to convert to Christianity.
01:02To learn more about the fall of the Inca empire, stay tuned for more information.
