00:04obsessed with human sacrifice. They believed that the gods wanted them to

00:08kill people. They built these massive pyramids where they would drag victims

00:12to the top and then throw them down the stairs to their death. You might think

00:16it's a bit dramatic, but this was just everyday life for the Aztecs. They even

00:21had a special word for it, called it Chicumcatl, which means Friday, the day of

00:25the dead. So if you were in Tenaxitlan during the 15th century, you would have

00:30seen hundreds of people being sacrificed to the gods every single day. You would

00:34have also seen their bodies dragged through the streets, sometimes left to

00:38rot. And if you weren't careful, you could easily get caught up in the violence and
