00:00Who is Jesus and why is he so important, not only today but for two millennia?
00:11How can a simple carpenter, without political power, an army or wealth, be the most influential
00:18person in human history, so much so that even our calendar is based on him? No matter who you are,
00:25the person who shaped human history more than anyone else deserves to be studied,
00:30especially since he is mentioned in all major world religions. Some see him as a prophet,
00:36a revolutionary, a miracle worker, or an enlightened teacher. But who did Jesus claim to be?
00:43Let's find out. First, can we trust the four Gospels as real eyewitness accounts of Jesus' life?
00:50Yes, because the New Testament is the most historically tested book of all time.
00:56There are over 5,800 ancient Greek copies of the Gospels, and despite differences,
01:03mainly spelling errors, the content remains remarkably consistent.
01:08The earliest Gospel manuscripts date back to the beginning of the 2nd century. These copies,
01:14found in Egypt, allow us to calculate that the original Gospels were written within the 1st
01:20century, during the lifetime of those who witnessed Jesus' life. They also correspond and are even
01:26referred to in other New Testament documents, like the letters of Paul, which date back to about 20
01:32years after Jesus' death. By contrast, we have only about 10 to 20 ancient manuscripts regarding Julius
01:40Caesar's life, written 900 years after his time. Yet, no historian questions their legitimacy.
01:47The many commentaries of early Church Fathers alone could reconstruct the Gospels in detail.
01:54From both a historical and archaeological perspective, the four Gospels are the reliable
02:00sources about Jesus of Nazareth. But the crucial question remains, who did Jesus claim to be?
02:07He didn't just call himself a teacher or prophet, he claimed to be the Son of God.
02:12This brings us to the well-known trilemma argument. He is either a liar, lunatic, or Lord. If Jesus
02:21wasn't truly God, then he was either lying or delusional. But considering his wisdom, miracles,
02:28and impact, he could not have been a fraud or insane. The only logical conclusion is that he was
02:35telling the truth. Even today, his influence is unmatched. His teachings shaped laws, ethics,
02:42and entire civilizations. Who did you believe Jesus was? Let's find out what Jesus said about himself.
