00:00A big focus obviously of this NATO summit has been the agreement to boost military spending as you've been discussing. Latvia is at the forefront of NATO's defence. So how would you like to see that increased money spent? Where do you think the biggest need is for NATO?
00:16First of all, there must be the common understanding of what we are all facing. There is one NATO. There are no several NATOs. There is no less secure countries or more secure countries. This has been also underlined in this summit that attack against one country means attack against all member states. Article 5. Article 5 is strong and remains as a basic principle of our alliance.
00:41At the same time, yes, spending is crucial. Spending is crucial for our capability development. Latvia spends already this year almost 4%. Next year we are approaching 5%. We are committed to increase that spending. We are committed to achieve our capability target goals because it is important that it's not just about spending as such.
01:02It is about the tool, a step towards a more lethal, more capable alliance, which also means that we can fulfil our regional defence plans very specifically, very practically.
01:16So that's why the spending is just one step towards implementation, implementation, implementation. So delivery is crucial.
01:22Also with partnership of the industry, military industry, defence industry, absolutely the partners in common effort of making capable alliance.
