00:00The ICC's latest rejection of a petition from the camp of former President Rodrigo Duterte
00:05for an interim release and custody transfer to a third-party country
00:09has left a sour and bitter taste in the Vice President's mouth.
00:12Small wonder she is bellyaching with her twisted perception of the President's pro-foreigner
00:17and anti-Filipino sentiments and the old-school anti-crime deterrent
00:21of increased police visibility on the streets.
00:23Our Harley Valbuena tells us more.
00:25President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stands firm on being pro-Filipino
00:32amid two international issues involving the Philippines,
00:37the matters concerning the International Criminal Court and the West Philippine Sea.
00:41After the Department of Justice or DOJ said it will provide protection
00:45for the witnesses on the crimes against humanity case against former President Rodrigo Duterte,
00:51Malacanang clarified that this does not mean the Philippines.
00:55is already directly cooperating with ICC.
00:59According to Palas Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro,
01:03the government is just assisting Filipinos in obtaining justice.
01:08Tutulungan ng DOJ ang mga witnesses para makapagtestify,
01:13para mabigyan ng ustisya ang dapat na mabigyan ng ustisya.
01:16Hindi directly makikipagtulungan sa ICC.
01:21The Palas also echoed the statement of the Commission on Human Rights or CHR
01:26reminding the public about its mandate to help victims
01:30regardless of circumstances and status,
01:33especially on cases involving violations of human rights.
01:37It can be recalled that drug war victims already requested the ICC pretrial chamber
01:43to reject the urgent request for interim release of Duterte.
01:47This is due to concerns on their safety and security
01:50should the former President be given temporary freedom.
01:54Meanwhile, the Palas also has a response to Vice President Sara Duterte's pronouncement
01:59that she is not pro any country amid allegations that she is pro-China.
02:27Mala kanyang added that President Marcos is proudly pro-Philippines
02:32and always made it clear that we will not yield even an inch of our territory.
02:38On VP Sara calling the Philippine National Police as old-schooled
02:42for focusing on police visibility in streets instead of utilizing modern technology such as drones,
02:49Yusek Castro shared the statement of PNP Chief Police General Nicolás Torredeferred
02:54saying they are already using drones and CCTVs for a quicker response.
03:00The Vice President is also welcome to visit PNP
03:03so she can see the importance of mobilizing police and communities.
03:08We have already incorporated technologies such as drones and CCTVs in our operations.
03:17This has enabled us to build a strong foundation for our quick response.
03:23So, ayon dito sa ating PNP Chief,
03:28makinig po tayo ng opinion sa mga taong may sense.
03:33Harley Valbena from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
