00:00I think it's one of the most difficult parts of my job is is trying to get information without interrupting a player's prep and their time and and just making sure that it's it's not sensitive information.
00:13And is this OK for TV? So it's always a line that you're trying to walk very kind of gently across because you don't want to cross the line with the player.
00:22And just for example, today with Colin, that obviously was a line crossed with him.
00:29And he felt like, hey, this this was something that I felt like I answered respectfully.
00:34And that wasn't a quote that I I appreciated. And he's fair to say that in the in the in the press conference.
00:41So I think it's one of those move along things. Colin handled it fine.
00:46Direct. He could have handled it, you know, away from the from the tent.
00:51And he could have given a note, one word answer and say, no, I don't know.
00:55And we wouldn't have looked at it any any other way. We would think, OK, he just doesn't want to answer.
00:59He's being short with us. But that's the way he decided to deal with it.
01:03And I'm fine with that, too. I appreciate the candor. I appreciate the honesty.
01:07And if you really, really want to get meta in terms of how the media coverage is, it's created another storyline to talk about.
01:13So, I mean, if you're in the media, you've got to be thankful for it either way.
01:17Right. The second piece of this is just his psyche as a putter tinkerer.
01:23He's tinkering, although, smiley, I'm heartbroken because I thought I had a putter brother and call him or call.
01:30I thought we're going to be Soto boys for life. And it looks like it's getting dropped.
01:34He went from the Soto to a tailor-made spider. And this last week he was he was with some tailor-made reps.
01:42They obviously, of course, they owned Logan Olson and he was working with some Logan Olson putters there.
01:47You know, obviously works with Steven Sweeney, a partnership that's been beneficial.
01:51But, of course, in the last hour, this run here has been so close to winning some events and putting well in many of them,
01:57but just hasn't made it over that hump. His psyche right now, you know, what do you make of I guess if you put yourself in his position or his shoes,
02:07how do you go about working on what's between the two ears, you know, maybe less so than how you're actually putting or the way you're striking the ball
02:15or just kind of cleaning that that part of the game up, knowing you have everything you need to win in terms of skill or ball striking?
02:20Yeah, I mean, I talked to his coach at Oakmont, too, and it was interesting start to the year because Colin Morikawa really did play nicely at the beginning of the year.
02:32Bay Hill is obviously a week that was one that he definitely wants back.
02:37And Russell Henley ends up chipping on 16. Next thing you know, Russell Henley is lifting the trophy.
02:42But like a lot of players, he was actually getting sick on the West Coast, wasn't really quite healthy for a couple of weeks there.
02:49The ball striking has obviously been really solid. The putter has been good.
02:55And I think we've been kind of looking for that type of breakout type of year that we were kind of thinking that he was going to have.
03:04And it's he's been making cuts, but not really been in contention.
03:07So where I think the psyche is, well, ever since he let go of his caddy, JJ, it's it's you know, it's you have to think he's searching just a little bit for whether it's
03:19you know, just trying to be the best version of Colin Morikawa, the best putter he can possibly be, having the best caddy he can possibly have.
03:28And he's just searching a little bit right now. And it doesn't mean he's not going to play good.
03:32He can go out and win this week. He's a favorite to win the golf tournament.
03:35But until there's some continuity with Colin Morikawa with a consistent bag man, a consistent putter and how about glove?
03:44I mean, that's all for it. And a glove. Yeah.
03:47Yeah.
03:51Yeah.
03:54Yeah.
