Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) spoke with reporters on Thursday about the Big Beautiful Bill.
Transcript
00:00Regarding Big Beautiful Bill, you've been negotiating with your house colleagues on
00:05salt.
00:06Do you feel like you're in a better place or are they playing ball?
00:09Yeah, we're all having a communication.
00:11I mean, everybody's got very strong opinions.
00:13I don't think we're going to have an agreement that everybody's going to love.
00:18But I've said this multiple times, we're looking for an opportunity to have a position that
00:24we give them no reasons to vote for than against them.
00:28But we're going to get there.
00:30We're going to find a spot.
00:31How real is this idea?
00:33That wasn't discussed for a conference.
00:38Everybody's over there paying it, but I don't think that's even.
00:43That wasn't even discussed for a conference.
00:45Where's the springtime?
00:47I don't know.
00:48I'm playing my wife and kids up here just for the weekend.
00:52I don't know.
00:53I think, I mean, ideally, we need to be voting this weekend.
00:56But the timeline's getting pushed because of some changes we've got to do in the build
01:03to make some things work.
01:04And every time that happens, it delays it by hours.
01:06So I feel confident that we're still going to be working this weekend.
01:09Is it changing?
01:10Do you still think we're getting through sometime?
01:12Do you say this week, Saturday, Sunday?
01:14Does that mean Monday morning at 4 or 5?
01:16Before work starts Monday, I'm pretty confident we're going to have it.
01:20Now, that could happen.
01:21It could be quick, right?
01:23If we make big changes in the build, then it can set us back.
01:27I mean, you've got to get a score before you can even get the birth path of that started.
01:32If we just make some tweets to the languages there, then we can go straight in to the,
01:37straight into the publicitarian, and that can take hours.
01:40But then you've got a 20-hour turnaround.
01:42So part of the idea here was the alternatives to the provider tax.
01:47Senator Thune had indicated that we have plan B to the CK to put some of these things up,
01:51have them on the back corner in case of that type of rule.
01:54Well, we have A, B, C, and now we have B.
01:57We took that for the rule that came out.
01:59But we are getting so close to the conference of just finalists.
02:04I mean, this was far the most productive conference we've had.
02:07So why do you think that the build has become so unpopular in the whole country?
02:11I haven't seen any of that.
02:12I know my constituent base in Obama wants this done, the president,
02:16and get behind or get on past the Biden administration policies and get on with Trump policies.
02:22So I haven't seen anything that says, at least in my constituents,
02:25that they don't want this done.
02:26Everything I've seen, they want this done.
02:28The FBI's obviously investigated this week in the intelligence report.
02:32Yeah, they should.
02:33Todd Blanch said last night that people were willing to prosecute a member of Congress
02:37if they were behind it.
02:38Do you think that could have come from the Hill left?
02:40I don't know how it could have.
02:42Because we haven't got any reports on it yet.
02:44So unless it came out of the intelligence committee,
02:46and the way they understood it, the intelligence committee hadn't even got that report.
02:49Remember, this was a report that was low-competence.
02:51A lot of times we don't even see low-competence.
02:53Because when it's low-competence, it means it's somebody's assumption,
02:57no eyes on.
02:58No eyes on.
02:59We want to see.
03:00Our reports are eyes on.
03:01All right.
03:02Thanks, guys.
