During remarks on the House floor, Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) spoke about President Trump's tariff policies.

00:00For what purpose does the gentleman from Virginia seek recognition?
00:03I'll ask the House for up to one minute and extend and revise my remarks.
00:06Without objection, the gentleman from Virginia is recognized for one minute.
00:09Mr. Speaker, meet Tariff Bear. He's cute, soft, and cuddly, and only triple the costs of a normal bear like him.
00:15And he's here to show us how this administration's tariffs are raising costs on families' favorite toys, clothes, and shoes,
00:21because toys like him are becoming unaffordable to families.
00:24I recently got a letter from a concerned young scout who was worried that the administration's tariffs
00:28will drive up the cost of his favorite toy, Legos.
00:30And as a dad, this hits home for me.
00:32My girls are Lego Disney princess fans. I've watched the movie about 10 times.
00:36And from Transformers to Lincoln Logs to Barbies, this administration's raising prices in our toy aisles with these tariffs.
00:42So we keep hearing that this president is ushering in a golden age,
00:45but I think raising costs on families buying gifts or clothes or shoes for their children does not sound very golden to me.
00:52And so to the young constituent who wrote to me, I will fight to lower costs for all Virginians and all Americans,
00:57and to keep tariff bear where he belongs, in hibernation. I yield back.
