Amber heat warning issued as London set to bask in temperatures of 31C.
Transcript
00:00Slightly fresher air coming in behind before more wet and windy weather arrives into Friday morning,
00:06affecting mostly northern England northwards brighter skies as temperatures really ramp up
00:12across more central and eastern areas, help with some sunshine.
00:15It turns showery through Friday and into Saturday.
00:18This weather front then weakens all the while.
00:20Temperatures intensify across more central and eastern areas,
00:23a bit fresher towards the northwest on Saturday with a few showers,
00:26and there will be some sunshine in between this weakening weather front.
00:30Now, if you are stepping out across Scotland this morning,
00:33watch out for some rain which could be heavy in places.
00:35Notice a clearance coming in from the west,
00:37so places such as Tyrone and Fermanagh will see some brighter weather through the next few hours.
00:43The rain continues across Wales as well as the west country.
00:46It's a bit more fragmented, some brighter skies in between,
00:49but notice this thundry rain across eastern parts of England, East Anglia,
00:53that will clear as we head through into mid-morning.
00:57So, all of this wet weather is clearing eastwards.
01:00The rain will come and go through the morning with quite a brisk breeze,
01:04but notice this clearance allowing for some sunshine across the bulk of Northern Ireland
01:08and western Scotland by around lunchtime.
01:11The showery rain continues across northern England, the Midlands,
01:14eastern counties of Scotland as well as England,
01:16but through the afternoon an improving picture.
01:18So, a fine end to the day, a few fleeting showers towards the northwest,
01:22still quite a keen breeze, temperatures of probably around 17 to 19 across the north,
01:27and we'll see 24 for mid-Wales, 25 across eastern counties,
01:3121 down towards the southwest of England.
01:34So, through this evening, fairly pleasant if you are stepping out.
01:38You may find a shower towards the west of Scotland, but certainly some warm sunshine.
01:43Winds will ease as well, but that's not the end of the story.
01:46Through the night into Friday, more cloud and rain arrives across Northern Ireland,
01:52western Scotland as well, into Friday morning before it slowly pushes eastwards.
01:57So, if you are stepping out on Friday morning, you may run into some rain anywhere from Lancashire
02:03and northwards, certainly Northern Ireland, much of Scotland.
02:06A filament of rain affecting Orkney pushing up towards Shetland,
02:10but then some broken clouds, so some brighter weather before this wet weather moves this way.
02:15Anywhere from South Yorkshire, mid-Wales, southwards,
02:18you'll see some fine weather on Friday and also some sunshine,
02:22and temperatures responding quite quickly to that sunshine,
02:26particularly across eastern counties through the day.
02:29But this rain could pep up and intensify through the morning into the afternoon,
02:33and the wind will be a key feature of the weather through the afternoon as well.
02:37Now, here are your temperatures.
02:38Despite the rain, 21 for Northern Ireland, 20 for Glasgow, 21 for Manchester,
02:44but notice 25 to 27 anywhere from east Wales towards eastern counties of England.
02:49And temperatures will be even higher through into Saturday.
02:54However, through Friday night, that rain clears most parts.
02:58There's a straddling weather front, though, which will weaken all the while,
03:01and into Saturday morning, it will sit anywhere from southern Scotland
03:05down towards the far south of Northern Ireland,
03:08clipping the far north of England and perhaps even northwest Wales.
03:12So, a lot of clouds here, some patchy rain and drizzle,
03:15brighter skies towards the north,
03:17but still that strong wind across the far north west of Scotland with one or two showers.
03:22Further south, it's a mix of clouds and some brighter breaks,
03:25and certainly you will see some sunshine coming through as we head through the afternoon
03:29as this rain continues to feed in, particularly across the North Pennines.
03:34So, temperatures on Saturday look like this.
03:37We're likely to see 26 to 29 anywhere from the Midlands, East Wales, towards eastern counties.
03:43Now, for Wales itself, probably around 23 towards the west,
03:47and 21 across the central belt of Scotland towards eastern counties of Scotland.
03:53Still quite a keen breeze in places, but certainly feeling very warm and humid.
03:58And that heat continues into Sunday as well,
04:02where temperatures could peak around 30 degrees Celsius,
04:05extending into the beginning of next week.
