00:00Previously on Next Gen NYC.
00:05Apartment shopping in New York.
00:07Absolutely impossible.
00:08There's dead pigeon.
00:09Oh, my God!
00:11Am I your second ever first date?
00:12No.
00:13Chloe went on a date with Charlie.
00:15He texted me, come meet us out later tonight
00:18if I'm not already back at my place with your sister.
00:21You want me to talk to him?
00:23You don't alienate us the way that dad does.
00:25My mom up in my early youth,
00:27but, like, she tried so hard to make up for it.
00:29Unlike my dad, who continues to be a dick.
00:31Are you happy in the life you have right now?
00:33Um...
00:34How many people try to mimic black women
00:36and they, like, curse their lips
00:37and then start swinging their finger?
00:39That was the attitude.
00:40It was like...
00:41Charlie's trying to spin this narrative
00:43that I'm, like, this scary black girl when I'm not.
00:45I certainly did not mean to offend you
00:47with any imitation of you, and I'm sorry.
00:50Charlie's like, I didn't actually mean what I said
00:53when I apologized.
00:54He just said it to, like, appease you.
00:56I think you need to realize that you have black women
00:58that are friends.
00:59Oh, my God.
01:00I'm not having this conversation again.
01:01Charlie.
01:02Please let go of my hand.
01:03I'm getting in an Uber.
01:04I think that's really up.
01:05What is wrong with him?
01:07You are firmly planted in the garden of tranquility.
01:15Occasionally, the girl will chime in.
01:19Oh, Jesus.
01:20Oh!
01:21That was in the moment there, honey.
01:23That was good.
01:24Very nice.
01:25He's not good.
01:27...
01:36By the way, if you see anything in the shot
01:38that looks, like, less than attractive,
01:41you know, just, like, tell me so I throw it away.
01:42I don't want to come across like a f*** bum.
01:44Like, I'm almost 30.
01:45I'm like, I'm almost 30, they're gonna get,
01:46they're gonna really roast the out of me
01:47if it's just like rolling joints
01:48and like living in a mess, you know?
01:58There is ample amounts of space.
01:59If need be, I could even put my shoes in here.
02:03I'm very impressed with this closet.
02:04A tub and a shower.
02:06No shimmying, no nothing, hands up all around.
02:10It's perfect.
02:11Are we doing this?
02:13Let's get an offer in ASAP.
02:14I'll get back to the office and write it up.
02:16Yay!
02:28Hey guys, welcome back to Turning the Tables.
02:31Okay, we're recording.
02:33Hi guys, how are you?
02:35Put some face, stack your money, nigga.
02:37Going through the race, making haters sicker.
02:39Get up off my case, only about figures.
02:41What the fuck are you talking about?
02:49Wow.
02:50I can't tell what's like real.
02:52This is like a natural trip.
02:54If you told me I wasn't on drugs right now,
02:56I wouldn't believe you.
02:57My parents spend a decent amount of time in New York City.
03:00Me and both of my siblings are here.
03:02Reach for the light.
03:03Come on in, honey.
03:04Welcome to Uranus.
03:05I feel like I'm in an insane asylum.
03:08Whoa, hold on.
03:09Whoa, stop.
03:10A couple that jumps together, humps together.
03:13It's like with most kids go to college
03:16and the kids like leave the nest.
03:18With my parents, they just pick up the nest
03:20and move it to where the kids are.
03:21How did you get down?
03:23You have to go over there and climb through that hole.
03:26What hole?
03:27You're like Charlie.
03:28You hung over?
03:30I didn't even know that you were gonna meet with Charlie.
03:32I've always wanted to be like a life coach.
03:36I mean, seriously?
03:38How would you feel if your dad
03:40like started meeting up with your friends?
03:42I think it just honestly is a little bit much for me
03:44because I feel like you guys
03:46share a lot of friends with me
03:48and like I feel like sometimes
03:49I don't have my own social life, you know?
03:53Sometimes it doesn't feel like I have a lot of independence
03:55from my parents.
03:56You've complete independence from me,
03:59but you are entirely attached to your mom.
04:01You're like a little baby kangaroo.
04:03I wanna be a mother.
04:05That's like the next level for a father.
04:07I think he just wants me to cut the cord with my mom
04:10so he can attach it to himself.
04:13Hmm.
04:14I would really like to know what it is
04:16that you guys talked about.
04:17We talked about finding your purpose.
04:20He's so authentic.
04:22He's not a bull .
04:23And sometimes when you're so authentic,
04:25it can get you in trouble.
04:27Yeah.
04:31There he is.
04:32Hey.
04:33Hello.
04:34Good to see you.
04:35What's up?
04:36Hello.
04:36Hi.
04:37You look pretty.
04:38How are you?
04:39We talked about his roommate, Dylan.
04:41What about Dylan?
04:42He's another friend of mine.
04:46Who's more active?
04:47Dylan's more active in the sense that he's bisexual.
04:49So he's just like, everyone can get it.
04:52Like anyone.
04:53No.
04:54Is that what?
04:55Being fluid?
04:56Hands?
04:57Is that like you just, anyone?
04:58And sexual?
04:59Yeah.
04:59That's what I'm trying to get to.
05:01Don't tell my wife.
05:02Fair.
05:03Ha!
05:04Seth, you're acting very bizarre.
05:07Why are you being weird?
05:10Anyone else hungry?
05:12Why can't you get your pudding, madame?
05:14I want a cheeseburger with french fries.
05:16I'm just going to eat whatever you order from the table.
05:18A large salade niçoise, and we'll share it.
05:21But olive oil and lemon, and no onions,
05:24and no, definitely no vinegar.
05:26Thanks.
05:27You guys are looking good?
05:28Yeah.
05:31I love Talia.
05:31I think she's hilarious.
05:32Both of my parents found, like, a particularly loony partner.
05:36Your mom went out with my best friend.
05:38He was too boring, and she left him.
05:40Even though he had a huge .
05:42It was nine inches.
05:43That's my dude.
05:44Talia, she's also crazy, but in a good way.
05:48When are you going to have Talia in your life, huh?
05:50What's going on with you, by the way?
05:52With what, my dating life?
05:53Yeah, your love life.
05:55I'm dating around, having fun.
05:57Frankly, I feel bad for you, because I don't have Talia.
06:00Because you're, you see what I have, and you know, you can't.
06:03You can never, you can never, you're just rubbing it in my face.
06:05You can never achieve, you can, it's hard to achieve perfection like Talia.
06:10My dad can, like, say some up that, like, isn't nice to hear.
06:14The apple didn't fall far in that regard.
06:20Of course.
06:20I would have a harder time remembering something that he said
06:22that didn't really hurt me.
06:23Why don't you come over tomorrow by the pool?
06:28It's beautiful out.
06:29Yeah, I'll invite some of my friends, and that's cool.
06:32Is there already olive oil and lemon, or?
06:34I don't think there is any.
06:35This looks dry, so I need olive oil.
06:37I was kind of not going to realize that.
06:39Okay, thank you.
06:39We don't need it.
06:40No, we don't need it.
06:41Do you like having your grandma around?
06:43Yeah, she's great.
06:44I love granny.
06:44She was very concerned that, you know,
06:46she wasn't going to like being on the 85th floor.
06:48Once she was there, she really didn't care.
06:50Same thing on the 32nd floor at the old apartment.
06:53From, first of all, we were on the 28th, not 32nd.
06:56No.
06:56Okay, you want to bet?
06:57Yeah, I'll bet you 100 bucks.
06:58100 bucks?
06:58Yeah.
06:59Okay, you're a witness, okay?
07:00My, my, me.
07:01It's very common for, you know, things to get competitive,
07:04and it's all just one big, you know,
07:05dick-measuring contest with my dad.
07:07Hey, Rick, we have a bet going that you have to settle for us,
07:10okay?
07:11So the elevators in the building, what floor do they go to
07:14before it starts to say penthouse A, penthouse B,
07:17penthouse C?
07:18All right, thank you, Ricky.
07:23See, he's never wrong.
07:25So you're paying for lunch, it seems.
07:27You're just rubbing it in my face?
07:28I don't want to high-five you for that, you.
07:31Hey.
07:32Hey, what's happening?
07:33Dad, what's happening with the golf tournament?
07:34Where are we going?
07:35We're going to invite my friend Brooks and Charlie as well,
07:38but I don't really want to hang out with Charlie.
07:39He's really getting on my last nerve.
07:40What happened?
07:41My dad definitely wants to know exactly what's going on in my life,
07:44and honestly, it's so fun giving tea to someone who is sat.
07:46Who's your friend circle out here?
07:47Brooks, Riley, Charlie.
07:48Are they all trust fund babies?
07:49Most.
07:50Who's the most flirtatious?
07:51Charlie.
07:52Charlie?
07:53Charlie has been, like, getting into fights with literally everyone
07:55and, like, not apologizing and stuff.
07:57Yesterday, Riley felt like the way Charlie was describing her
07:59was making her cry.
08:00I don't really want to hang out with Charlie.
08:01I don't really want to hang out with Charlie.
08:02He's really getting on my last nerve.
08:03What happened?
08:04My dad definitely wants to know exactly what's going on in my life,
08:06and honestly, it's so fun giving tea to someone who is sat.
08:08Who's your friend circle out here?
08:09Brooks, Riley, Charlie, Charlie.
08:10Are they all trust fund babies?
08:11Most.
08:12The way Charlie was describing her was making her come off
08:14as, like, angry black woman vibes,
08:16and, you know, obviously that's super triggering.
08:18So I was trying to explain to him, like, just, you know,
08:21this is something you know nothing about,
08:22so just zip it.
08:23Like, she's so frustrated.
08:24She's crying.
08:25Like, just shut up, honestly.
08:27And he was, like, turning on me and, like,
08:29coming at me for, like, why am I getting involved
08:31and blah, blah, blah.
08:32And I was like, dude, I'm trying.
08:33Wait, wait, stop right there.
08:35He was talking aggressively to you.
08:37Yeah, like, not kind at all.
08:39How's his relationship with his mother?
08:41Like, she doesn't live in the city.
08:42They're not so close, I don't think.
08:44I mean, he's 30.
08:45Like, he doesn't live at home anymore, you know?
08:47Does he like women?
08:49Yes.
08:51So why does he treat him so bad?
08:53Don't know.
08:54That's an issue.
08:55I think he has to really understand what it means
08:57to like or love a woman.
08:59But first he has to know how to love himself.
09:02Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
09:07Carrie Bradshaw once said, like, in New York,
09:09you're always looking for a job, an apartment,
09:11or a boyfriend.
09:12And, like, I've been looking for all three more than not.
09:16You're doing a really good job.
09:17It's like right, left, right.
09:20I've never seen you, like, walk so much, actually.
09:23Omar and I have been hanging out a lot.
09:25We've been, like, going on dates.
09:27Oh, and then this was the other place I wanted to do a party at,
09:30but they also don't want to do parties.
09:32Oh, it does look like a wedding venue.
09:33Yeah.
09:34When I was a senior in college,
09:35this random guy said if I wanted to throw a party,
09:38he would invest in it.
09:39It went amazing.
09:40I mean, a ton of money.
09:41I loved it, and I'm addicted to doing this.
09:44You know me.
09:45It's like, if I'm going to do something,
09:46I'm going to do it all the way.
09:47Yeah.
09:48Omar runs a crypto startup company.
09:50I've never dated someone who wears a suit, honestly.
09:54Hello.
09:55Hi.
09:56How are you?
09:57Good.
09:58It's been tough,
09:59because Omar's on a completely different lifestyle.
10:01I hate charity.
10:03I know.
10:04He was waking up at, like, five in the morning,
10:07an hour or two after I go to bed.
10:09But Omar is a genius.
10:14He's always been interested in opening, like, a physical space.
10:18Restaurants.
10:19Yeah.
10:20Bars.
10:21I mean, it's just been, like, a childhood dream of mine.
10:22Really?
10:23I mean, I watched Ratatouille, and I was like, oh, like, what?
10:26Wow.
10:27That did it for you?
10:28After years and years of doing events for other people,
10:30I'm starting my own club, and Omar's coming in,
10:33and he's going to invest and find other investors as well.
10:37Do you have any concerns with, like, us working together?
10:40Like...
10:41Business is business.
10:42You can't let emotion get in the way.
10:44I don't think we're going to ever end in a way that we're, like,
10:48can't speak to each other.
10:50But, like, I've been blocked many times.
10:54It's a red flag.
11:01Femme Fontaine.
11:02It's pink and there's flowers.
11:04Oh, my God.
11:05That's my favorite X over the nipple.
11:09Hello.
11:10How are you?
11:11Good. How are you?
11:12Good.
11:13Can we do, um, two dirty Shirlies?
11:14Sorry, Shirley.
11:15Awesome.
11:17It took us an hour and 30 minutes to get home from New Jersey.
11:18Literally.
11:19With all the bull that was going on.
11:20That was a long car ride.
11:22I was going to call Charlie and be like, what are you doing?
11:25You're really going alone like a loser.
11:29Why aren't you riding back with us?
11:30What do you mean, bro?
11:31We got no whole beef with Riley.
11:32You're on paper.
11:33Okay.
11:34Good warning.
11:35If something hurts my feelings, you have to have these conversations.
11:39You know that, right?
11:40Can we wait until tomorrow?
11:42Oh.
11:43His voice is pissing me off.
11:45Can you give me the phone?
11:47This is not, like, running.
11:48You're right.
11:50Oh, my God.
11:51Now I feel better.
11:56I can't even imagine.
11:58He's just too grown and too old to not put in the work to be better.
12:03The way we were raised shapes us, and we're forced to be this type of person.
12:07But as we grow, it's our job to change that and work on the things that do not make us better.
12:13Same way he was a dick in the beginning.
12:14Yeah.
12:15And I was like, everyone was like, oh, he's gone through trauma in life and whatever.
12:19We've all gone through trauma, and you're grown.
12:21I love giving him excuses, and I'm not gonna let him do that.
12:24Everybody does.
12:25Like, I'm over it.
12:26I know everyone likes to let him slide, which I did before.
12:28But I've never had that in my face, especially from a friend, which I think hurts ten times more.
12:35I don't obviously understand this situation as fully that you do, but I'm in your corner, and I will never let anybody ever disrespect you.
12:43And I will literally hit a man for the first time if I need to.
12:47Our moms were on housewives.
12:48We can handle our own.
12:49No, I'm getting very irritated.
12:50Or are you trying to get irritated?
12:51Well, if you're getting irritated, do what the you normally do and take your ass on and get in that car.
12:56If we need to throw that wine glass or shift that wig.
12:58I did not try to pull it off.
13:00I did not want to pull it off.
13:02I just wanted to shift it a little bit.
13:04Get away from me.
13:05I just want you to hold on.
13:06Hold on.
13:07We will, evidently.
13:08I don't even know how it's gonna be the next time I see him, but I generally don't think I can be friends with him.
13:15Coming up.
13:17She was saying how she was surprised you want to start a clothing brand.
13:21Excuse me?
13:23Where is she?
13:24Like, for real.
13:25I want Ava with a bitch-ass attitude.
13:27Yo.
13:37How far are you?
13:38You're just about to leave?
13:40Dude, it takes an hour and a half for you to get here.
13:43I'm tired.
13:44Come on.
13:45Don't take this out of me.
13:52You want to just pop out and let him in?
13:54Yeah.
13:55Yeah, you got it.
13:56Hi, baby.
13:58I made it.
13:59Aw.
14:00You're really getting better at punches.
14:02You practicing?
14:03Break your hand.
14:04Scared the out of me.
14:05Got it, baby.
14:06Oh, baby?
14:07I got it.
14:08Almost got hit by a car.
14:09I was the deal to finally get this compartment in New York City.
14:12I got it.
14:13I got it.
14:14I got it.
14:15I got it.
14:16I got it.
14:17I got it.
14:18I got it.
14:19I got it.
14:20I got it.
14:21I got it.
14:22I got it.
14:23I got it.
14:24I got it.
14:25Thank .
14:26I finally moved in.
14:27Jesus.
14:28Jesus.
14:29I was going to say thank God.
14:30Okay?
14:31Okay.
14:32Thank you, Lord.
14:33We have finally found a place.
14:35I could not live in a hotel for another day.
14:37Moving in?
14:38Yes.
14:39We just moved here from Atlanta.
14:40My bathroom is leaking into your apartment this morning.
14:43Oh.
14:44Oh, goodness.
14:45Perfect way to move in.
14:46So we definitely exceeded the budget, which is stressful.
14:50And a 15% broker fee.
14:52The is that?
14:53I don't even want to talk about that.
14:54What the hell, New York?
14:56I'm like Santa with the sack.
14:59What is this?
15:01Oh, no.
15:03me.
15:04We should play summertime sadness because it's summer and we might have sadness.
15:16Wait, what do you do when you wake up feeling that way?
15:19Oh, my God.
15:20I feel like I always wake up with a little anxiety, but I think that's hormonal.
15:24But I swear to God, I feel like every day is a good day.
15:26So you think you just don't need therapy, but other people do?
15:29I was in it since age like five.
15:31For what?
15:32Well, like my dad died when I was young.
15:33And before that, he was a little out of control.
15:36My parents grew up in between poor and middle class.
15:40They both became lawyers and started their own law referral company together.
15:45And the company was doing really, really well.
15:47And then 9-11 happened.
15:49And I think that really derailed my father.
15:53I think it triggered a major PTSD response in him.
15:56So he kind of like went off the rails in a sense.
15:59And ended up leaving my family and moving upstate.
16:02And that's where he ended up dying.
16:04And then I was kind of acting out when I was young.
16:07And then they put me into therapy.
16:08And then I pretty much saw a therapist on and off.
16:10Like until recently, until like a year ago.
16:12I was in and out of therapy all my high school.
16:14Really?
16:15Yeah.
16:16Why?
16:17Like beef with my dad.
16:18Basically, we kept trying to use them as mediators.
16:20Because like we would get.
16:21Oh, yeah.
16:22So like we would go together and try to like communicate effectively.
16:24Okay, girls.
16:26It's our new home.
16:27Look, all of our stuff is coming.
16:29I do have to tell you something.
16:31What?
16:32Um, I don't know how these ended up on the floor.
16:37Outside.
16:39Oh, no, they're definitely broken.
16:42I'm so sorry.
16:43I literally have been stressed about the whole entire way up here.
16:45It's all right.
16:46I don't like worrying about money.
16:48Soho, baby.
16:49I could probably get some right down the street.
16:50I'm living in damn New York City.
16:52I need to be making a lot more money than I was making in Atlanta.
16:55Hello, mother.
16:56What are you doing?
16:57Well, we have a home.
17:00Thank Jesus.
17:01Look.
17:02We finally made it.
17:03Let me see.
17:04It's huge.
17:05And then.
17:06Are you drinking my wine, guys?
17:07Yes, we are in honor of you.
17:09We're going to be here.
17:10We signed a year lease.
17:11I'm so proud.
17:12He makes me want to cry.
17:13Oh, God.
17:14Don't do it.
17:15Then you're going to make me do it.
17:16This is so.
17:17You're just doing so good for yourself.
17:19You're in New York.
17:20Like, I think every little girl in the world dreams of just moving to New York and being
17:24able to do what you're doing and just.
17:26It's just living the moment.
17:28Appreciate every second.
17:29For real.
17:30I love you.
17:31And I can't wait for you to come here.
17:32Hudson, it better be a ring next, baby.
17:34It better be a ring next.
17:35Oh, my God.
17:38Beautiful house.
17:39Holy .
17:40Very stately.
17:41Is that what you said?
17:42Yeah.
17:43Wow.
17:44Yay.
17:45We, like, ring the doorbell.
17:46Can we just walk in, probably?
17:47All right.
17:48Hello.
17:49We made it.
17:50Took you long enough.
17:51Don't blame me.
17:52I'm sorry we're late.
17:53I'm Georgia.
17:54Nice to meet you.
17:55I think it's definitely, like, an intimate experience when your friends are, like, co-mingling
18:06with your family or your parents.
18:07Hi, I'm Brooks.
18:08So nice to meet you.
18:09Thank you for having us.
18:12It's especially intimate when, like, my father is speaking to one of them because I'm wondering
18:17what are they talking about?
18:18How's that going?
18:19What's he judging me as a result of that conversation?
18:21I don't know.
18:22How are you?
18:23Nice to meet you.
18:24A lot about you.
18:25Should we go outside?
18:26Yeah, let's head out.
18:27Let's start the party.
18:30Whoa, I love this.
18:31Is that New York City?
18:32I think that's Jersey City or something.
18:35Wait, that's not right.
18:36Maybe it's Boston.
18:37I don't know.
18:38So girls, who's more handsome, Charlie or me?
18:43I don't know.
18:44It's a top one.
18:45You guys can all just see him.
18:46Because I don't want him to be in a bad mood for the rest of the day.
18:53Okay, I can do shots.
18:54Yeah, I'll reluctantly do a shot.
18:55Thank you so much for cooking for all of us.
18:58It's so nice to meet everyone here.
19:00Did you party with your last night?
19:03No, I didn't.
19:04I was at my friend's birthday dinner.
19:06Oh, is that right?
19:07Yeah.
19:08I'm really trying to be chill.
19:10It's beautiful here.
19:11But, like, my dad could not be more different.
19:14I am so proud of you.
19:17Thanks.
19:18Pull my finger.
19:19What?
19:20Pull it.
19:21No, dad.
19:22Aim for the board, not me.
19:26And it's over, ladies and gentlemen.
19:28No, not yet.
19:29Not yet.
19:30I don't even have to throw it.
19:31All right, good. Then don't.
19:3420 bucks.
19:35I know I love cornhole so much.
19:39Imagine growing old on this bench.
19:41We were, like, watching our kids play.
19:43And then, like, grandchildren.
19:45Such a romantic life.
19:46Nah.
19:47Thank you for having us.
19:48This has been very nice.
19:49You've been great.
19:50I appreciate all the effort you put in meeting everyone and everyone else.
19:53Yeah, they're cool, by the way.
19:54Yeah.
19:55I knew you liked everyone.
19:56Yeah.
19:57I knew you liked everyone.
19:58I love seeing Charlie and his, like, family dynamic.
19:59I know.
20:00I just like that they look alike.
20:01It's very cute.
20:02No, they kind of are totally alike.
20:04It's, like, Charlie and, like, his older self.
20:07Yes.
20:08That's what I'm saying.
20:09It's like holding a mirror up to him in, like, 40 years.
20:11So, anyway, any plans as you approach 30?
20:16Any thoughts?
20:17I'm not talking about that.
20:18I know you don't want to talk about it, but you've got to have a plan for it.
20:21No, but they're not positive, frankly, when we have these conversations.
20:24I feel weird, Loki, because I feel like I know Charlie's perspective of his dad.
20:28Yeah.
20:29And it's not positive.
20:30Yeah.
20:31Charlie's dad is a pretty intense figure.
20:33On and off, we have difficult conversations.
20:36But I think Charlie grew up with, like, very, very, very high expectations.
20:39And I think Charlie being Charlie, like, rebelled against that.
20:42And I think at a certain point, parent and child kind of both got fed up with each other.
20:48Come on.
20:49This is just a lot.
20:50I hate when I feel like this.
20:51You know what?
20:52I don't want to get into your drama.
20:53I mean, at a certain point, like, I can't live to make him happy.
20:56And he's rarely happy.
20:57I would get a 99 on a math test.
20:59And, like, it's like, yo, why did you miss that one point?
21:01There's always something wrong.
21:03Is that rigatoni?
21:04Would you like some?
21:05Yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:06We'll take it off your hands.
21:07Thank you so much.
21:08Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
21:09Well, .
21:10He said something kind of weird the other day.
21:12And he's like, I can't stay with my dad.
21:14If my dad doesn't want me there, that's why he gives me my allowance money so he doesn't
21:18have to deal with me.
21:19I already assumed.
21:20Like, that, like, makes me sad.
21:22I'm sure, you know, his dad's giving up on him must make Charlie give up on himself
21:28a little bit, even if he doesn't consciously see it.
21:31Okay, but, like, Charlie's, like, 38.
21:34Bro, it never, it never ends, bro.
21:39What happened?
21:40Scooch over?
21:41No, my dad is just pissing me off.
21:43You hate when people do that.
21:44Yeah, like, have a normal conversation with me versus judging my private life.
21:47At the end of the day, I just want peace.
21:49I just want peace in my life.
21:51And part of me is worried that I'll never get it until he dies, frankly.
21:54But, I don't know.
21:55I guess we'll, we'll have to wait and see.
21:57Can we smoke this, like, away from my dad?
21:59Over there.
22:00Let's go.
22:01I need to come now.
22:05Coming up.
22:06I think that was my phone that fell off of the golf cart.
22:09Can you stop it?
22:10No, I don't know how to do it.
22:11You have my location.
22:13Shit, it fell out.
22:14Don't scream at me like that.
22:15You think they're her yet?
22:16No, Ava texted me that she's, like, five minutes away.
22:32Hey, everybody, have fun.
22:33Happy Friday, have fun.
22:35Don't embarrass me in front of my friend and her dad.
22:39You think I'm capable of embarrassing you?
22:42Yes, I definitely do.
22:49OSG!
22:51OSG stands for Off School Grounds.
22:53So you know everyone here is a principal or a superintendent?
22:56The OSG is hundreds of principals from economically challenged places.
23:00And what I've done is I taught them entrepreneurship.
23:03He's an entrepreneur.
23:04He co-founded Rockefeller Records and for Rock Aware.
23:07When I was, like, four years old, I was in the Rock Aware campaigns.
23:10With my mom being a fashion designer, fashion has always been a part of my life.
23:15My godfather was Andre Leon Talley.
23:18We call him fashion's godfather, too.
23:20She has a black belt in fashion.
23:22I want her to know the superhero that she is and the power that she has and how to use it.
23:28Our thing is we don't talk about problems.
23:30We like to fix it, and the solutions are right there.
23:32I like that.
23:33I like that a lot.
23:35Period.
23:36So who's driving?
23:37You gonna drive, Ava?
23:38You want me to drive?
23:39You want me to drive?
23:40You want me to drive?
23:41All right.
23:42True.
23:43I'm about to say.
23:44You're gonna not lose a ball today.
23:46Put that out in the universe.
23:48I want to switch carts and ride with Damon, so.
23:50There you go.
23:51Woo!
23:59Damn.
24:00I don't know.
24:01The next time we're gonna play basketball, okay?
24:03How about that?
24:04Keep your eye on the ball.
24:05Oh!
24:06Down the middle.
24:07Oh.
24:08Woo!
24:09Bam!
24:10There it is.
24:11Oh, four heads up.
24:12Heads up.
24:13Four.
24:14About to take out a principle.
24:15Sorry about that.
24:16Let's go, Brad.
24:17One, two, three.
24:19Oh!
24:20You don't see that every day.
24:22Amazing.
24:23You smoke?
24:24Cigarettes or?
24:25Weed.
24:26Uh.
24:27Got to drive?
24:28I work in public company, you know.
24:29Oh, .
24:30Yeah.
24:31Well, I'll smoke for you.
24:36You guys hang out?
24:37All the time.
24:38Did you hear that?
24:41I just want to be your friend.
24:43Best friend.
24:44All right, so we on to the next hole?
24:46Yep.
24:47We Brooks want a ride together?
24:48This car's like kind of broken, I'm not gonna lie.
24:50I think I was driving that one with the parking brake on.
24:53Oh.
24:54Yes.
24:56Okay, wait, so tell me about yesterday.
24:57It was so cute seeing Charlie with his family, but it was weird.
25:01Like, he definitely had his, like, moments where he was, like, freaking out.
25:06He's such a drama queen.
25:08I can't.
25:09For someone who doesn't love the drama, Charlie's obsessed.
25:13Charlie's at the center of every single dramatic moment that I've had this summer.
25:17I'm not gonna reach out to him or anything.
25:19I don't think it's our responsibility.
25:21My dad's thing is, like, it's deeper rooted.
25:23Yeah.
25:24In the car yesterday, he was saying that someone tried to make him go to, like, therapy, and
25:29that he, like, left halfway through the therapy and was like, I'm not doing this.
25:32Immediately sits me down and starts talking about, like, therapy therapy.
25:35And I was like, I'm not here for this.
25:36And I left.
25:37And then started saying that me, Dylan, or Georgia should go.
25:41Dude, you should talk about this with a therapist.
25:43I feel like you should do it, too.
25:44Not everything needs to be going to a therapist.
25:45You do it.
25:46You do it.
25:47I'm not into it.
25:48But you guys seem into it.
25:49Brooks, you seem like maybe it would benefit you.
25:51I mean, what?
25:52I was like, first of all, I have a therapist.
25:53Yes, first of all, so do I.
25:54Like, we all need therapy.
25:55Why?
25:56Take the help.
25:57I mean, I used to be the type where, like, I would hate therapy, too.
26:00And, like, my parents were getting divorced, they put me in a therapist's office.
26:03And I literally sat there, like, arms crossed.
26:05Like, I will not talk.
26:06Like, so stubborn.
26:07But I was also eight.
26:08I went when I was a kid, but it was because I thought my house was haunted.
26:12And I, like, couldn't believe.
26:14Was it haunted?
26:15Yes, I'm still convinced it was, but my parents were like, you need to go to a therapist because
26:20it's not normal that you're seeing, like, elves in the...
26:22You saw elves?
26:27That's not normal at all.
26:28No, I'm fine now.
26:30I survived.
26:33Who was there when you were crawling, like, a Navy seal at three years old
26:37because you were afraid of monsters in your bedroom?
26:40What did I do?
26:41You'd make me a little bed and then I'd sleep on the floor next to your bed.
26:45I will wave you in and always have a place for you.
26:49And it's very cute.
26:50I forgot about that.
26:52Oh, a storm is brewing.
26:54It's raining!
26:56You know where you're going?
26:57Nicholas, protect my dog.
26:58Uh...
26:59Protectable is the aga.
27:01This fest can't get wet.
27:03It has goose down in it.
27:06I think that was my phone that fell off of the golf cart.
27:08No way.
27:09So you better go back then.
27:10Can you track it?
27:12No, I don't know how to track.
27:13You have my location.
27:14Can you track my phone?
27:15I don't have your location.
27:16You said it fell out.
27:18Don't scream at me like that.
27:19Is this it?
27:20Oh, yeah, it's right there.
27:21Thank God.
27:22Jesus.
27:23Coming up.
27:24Ariana's kind of growing on me.
27:25Do you have a crush on her now?
27:26Maybe I'll try to .
27:27Charlie.
27:28Let's go.
27:29We them rebels.
27:30Everybody wanna talk about.
27:31We stay up all night and cause a riot scream and shout.
27:33Get on the blow, on the blow.
27:34If you're really about it.
27:35Don't take it slow, take it slow.
27:36Everybody shout a jump.
27:37I do.
27:38I do.
27:39I do.
27:40I do.
27:41I do.
27:42I do.
27:43I do.
27:44I do.
27:45I do.
27:46I do.
27:47I do.
27:48I do.
27:49I do.
27:50I do.
27:51I do.
27:52I do.
27:53I do.
27:54I do.
27:55I do.
27:56I do.
27:57I do.
27:58I do.
27:59I do.
28:00I do.
28:01I do.
28:02I do.
28:03This is so far.
28:04Hi.
28:05Hi.
28:06Hello.
28:07Good morning.
28:08Good morning.
28:09Morning for me.
28:10How are you?
28:11I don't think it's ironic that I'm dating someone in finance because he's not in finance,
28:23finances and crypto, which I think is like actually the antithesis of like finance jobs.
28:31It's way more anarchist, way more radical. I'm sorry I didn't come over last night. I was
28:37watching a really good movie and like popped a bottle of Shandong. I don't know, because I'm
28:42really talking myself into it. I've been thinking a lot about what we can do. Are we going to white
28:49wars? Um, yes. The parties I throw are really, really unique for like this day and age and
28:58location. Okay. What do I always say is the number one priority in life? Fun? Yes, exactly. Number
29:05two? Sexy and cool. Sexy and cool. You know it. If you're wearing heels, I'm not going to let you in.
29:11If you're wearing like a suit, I'm not going to let you in. If you work in finance, I'm not going
29:15to let you in. And number three, what is more of your priority? Money. Money. Yeah, I mean,
29:21I think American Psycho is a really good example of like the archetype of person I don't want coming
29:26to my event. I have noticed this trend. Cool kids are doing nerdy activities. Like a big idea I've
29:35been working with is bowling. Kind of like Americana, middle America. It's like back in coastly. I told my
29:43mom, we went bowling. She's like, I love bowling. We don't have that much in common, but we love
29:48bowling. I really feel like it's a great unifier. So now we have the fun with bowling. How do we make
29:56it sexy and cool? That's where I come in. Once we have all this figured out done, you see it. I know
30:01what we need. Like this is not that it's not rocket science. It's just a matter of doing it. Okay,
30:06great. This is how it should be. Fun. Fun. Hi, Charlie. How are you? She shows up. Aren't you so happy?
30:21How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Hi, would you be down to get lunch tomorrow and talk?
30:28I want to know why you're upset at me so I can understand and apologize. And I said, yeah.
30:33How can I make us good friends again? Charlie, you just need to apologize. I'm sorry. It's like
30:39really not that hard. I'm sorry. I love you. And you need to mean it. Is that it? I do mean it.
30:44All the like little tips you've gotten in, like I'm the only one trying to help you and like give
30:48you my advice for how to like make sure that people aren't upset with you. And then you like turn on me.
30:53I was like, are you serious? I didn't turn on you. I wasn't like snapping. All I wanted was just like a- You so were snappy and sassy and frassy and I didn't deserve it.
31:01Everyone else is perfect. No one else is sassy but Charlie. No, just not at me. I get it.
31:07Well, Riley and I are very good now. Oh, really? Yeah. How did that happen?
31:11We ended up just grabbing a coffee in Dumbo. Cute. It was good. We like walked and talked.
31:17Similar to this. I'm on my apology tour today. So I'm here to listen to you.
31:21Oh, I was going to say the same thing. Yeah, but Charlie, if I already explained it to you, why do I need to explain it again?
31:27What are you listening to now? You already heard me. None of my actions ever come from a place of malice or like, you know, I would never try to hurt anyone.
31:36I feel like they come from ignorance, which is why I was really frustrated when I took the time to like explain it to you.
31:43I am really sorry. I should have just sat there and listened better and I should not have undermined my apology.
31:47I just didn't want to be painted in an unfairly villainized light, I guess.
31:52And maybe I'm then triggered with like my family or whatever, always like villainizing me unfairly. So.
31:58Yeah.
31:59I think Charlie convinces himself that he's right always. And I think that's a different issue.
32:05I should have been more understanding to your, you know, perception of how things went down, you know.
32:11And obviously I'm never going to be able to understand, you know, your struggle as a woman of color. So I am sorry for that.
32:17At my grown age of 21, I don't like to have issues with people anymore.
32:23If someone is opening up being like, okay, I want to figure this out. I don't hold gratitude.
32:27I'm going to move on.
32:28Clean slate. Give me another chance. I really am sorry. I want to be homies again.
32:32Like you're like an AA and you like have to go apologize to everyone.
32:35What is that? Like a nine step type?
32:36Something like that. I'm so glad this apology tour has begun.
32:40Did you miss me?
32:41I miss you.
32:43I don't want to say I hope it continues. I hope it ends because I hope it doesn't need to continue.
32:47Have you seen anyone like Hudson, Ariana, Gia?
32:51Not really. Just Brooks.
32:52Ariana's kind of growing on me.
32:53Really? In what way?
32:57Do you have a crush on her now?
32:59Maybe I'll try to her low-key.
33:01Charlie!
33:02This is classic Charlie.
33:03Apologize for one thing and immediately on to the next bull**** item on the agenda.
33:09You know she's been dating her boyfriend for like two years.
33:12I'm not going to actively try.
33:13But if it falls in my lap.
33:16If I get like the smallest green light, like, it's up.
33:19All right.
33:24He's right here.
33:25How cute.
33:26Hi.
33:27Ron.
33:28Nice to meet you.
33:29Nice to meet you.
33:29Nice to meet you.
33:30Welcome to the lab.
33:31I have wanted a clothing line for forever, but I don't know how to do a lot of things.
33:36And that's part of what coming to New York's about.
33:40Really cool.
33:42Tell me a little bit about what you guys are thinking about.
33:46We are doing like a streetwear type of brand, of course.
33:49Like the amazing stuff we have going on here.
33:51I just came here today wanting to hear from you and how your process was.
33:55When I started my brand, I went into it with a strategy and identifying three brands.
34:02Mm-hmm.
34:02Do you have three brands in your head that you're like, I like how they execute?
34:07Tell me about the empire that you guys are starting.
34:12I mean, we're both obviously obsessed with our clothes.
34:15Like we don't want to go somewhere in a trash bag.
34:18Even though I can make a trash bag look good.
34:22As you're creating this product, where's it going to be shipped?
34:24Where's it going to be housed?
34:25You know, how's it being paid for?
34:27Where are you guys at with that process?
34:30We've been saving up.
34:32Whatever you think you have, it's not enough.
34:35Oh.
34:36What is your mission statement?
34:38Give it to me.
34:39Elevator, pitch me.
34:40You're the face of this.
34:43This brand to me is all about people feeling great in what they're wearing.
34:48It's going to be such amazing quality as well that you're going to stand up tall.
34:52And we're going to start out with pastels.
34:54I'm very nervous about pastels.
34:55Like little hearts everywhere.
34:56I love hearts and little tutu too.
34:58Have the little intricate details.
34:59Have so many things written down.
35:01There's a tremendous amount of enthusiasm.
35:05Tremendous amount of enthusiasm.
35:07The plan's not there yet.
35:09Focus, focus, focus.
35:10Another pearl of wisdom that I have, because I've been there and done it, this business will
35:15aid you in dog years.
35:17Seven for every one.
35:19Oh, fantastic.
35:20Your relationship is going to be challenged.
35:22Oh, no, it will be, for sure.
35:23Doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
35:24Yep.
35:25To get adored angels out into the open, we need to get moving.
35:30Dude, thank you so much.
35:30We appreciate it.
35:31We want to get these samples back quick and get the first drop made, the second drop made,
35:35the third and the fourth, so we can put it out like this.
35:37Obviously, we're all over the place right now, but I think that's all a part of doing this
35:42process is believing in yourself.
35:44And it's time for you to get your ass in gear.
35:46Both of us.
35:47Both of us.
35:50Both of us.
35:52Both of us.
35:54Both of us.
36:01Both of us.
36:02I can't let these all of us.
36:04Let's go.
36:05This is cute.
36:06This is cute.
36:07That's my good side.
36:09Switch.
36:10Hi, you guys.
36:11We're going to celebrate Chloe.
36:14Woo!
36:15Can I stop, please?
36:16Yeah, let's go.
36:17I knew you guys were going to be wearing the same shoes.
36:20Okay.
36:21Thank you, God.
36:22Hello.
36:23We've finally arrived.
36:24Hello, beautiful.
36:25Hi.
36:26That is so nice to finally meet you.
36:27Kevin, nice to meet you.
36:28Who's my boyfriend?
36:29What's your name?
36:30Kevin.
36:31Kevin.
36:32Hudson.
36:33Nice to meet you, man.
36:34Can we do six shots of the bottom?
36:36Do you want a shot?
36:37Twist my arm.
36:38Cheers, you guys.
36:39Happy birthday, Chloe.
36:40Thanks.
36:41Thank you guys for coming.
36:42Cheers.
36:43Oh my God.
36:44Is it okay?
36:45Yeah, like barely.
36:46She is not.
36:47I suck the whole thing out.
36:48He's like redo your beef.
36:49No.
36:50Riley, Riley.
36:51No, no, no, no.
36:52He pays for everything.
36:53Mind your business.
36:54Let him do it.
36:55That's what men do.
36:56Exactly.
36:57How did your lunch with Charlie go?
36:58Did you go?
36:59It wasn't lunch.
37:00It was a walk.
37:01No, no, no.
37:02He pays for everything.
37:03Mind your business.
37:04Let him do it.
37:05That's what men do.
37:06Exactly.
37:07How did your lunch with Charlie go?
37:09Did you go?
37:10It wasn't lunch.
37:11It was a walk.
37:12It was a walk.
37:13It was actually cute.
37:14He planned a walk.
37:15He was like, he apologized.
37:16And I was like, where's you?
37:17Do you think that he low-key has feelings for you?
37:20No, I don't think so.
37:21Like you really think it's fully political?
37:23I genuinely, like I look at Charlie like my gay best friend.
37:27There's no way he could have a crush on me.
37:30He did say he would hook up with our own.
37:33What?
37:34Even though she has a boyfriend.
37:35No, he didn't.
37:36He is so wild.
37:38Ain't nobody taking a relationship.
37:39Never, baby.
37:40I want to get a drink.
37:41I want to get a drink.
37:42Okay, let's get a drink.
37:43Could we?
37:44Yeah.
37:45What are you doing?
37:46I'm showing you.
37:47You guys got a new place.
37:48Yes, we did.
37:49Where is it?
37:50Soho.
37:51I really wanted a view.
37:52What does it look like?
37:53Do you have photos?
37:54You gotta come over.
37:55Love to have you guys go.
37:56We'll do that.
37:57Have a seat, mama.
37:58Congrats.
37:59Did you know that Ariana's a fashion designer?
38:01I did not know that.
38:02She told me that I was like a little surprised.
38:04Because I can tell with being like I'm surprised that she's a fashion designer has like a negative connotation.
38:11No, it's not.
38:12Well, I don't mean it in like a negative way.
38:15It's just like every time I've seen her I never like thought, oh, like she's giving fashion and like giving, I'm going to design a clothing line.
38:22Did you know that Ariana's a fashion designer?
38:28Did you not agree?
38:29I had friends in high school and college that would say things like that.
38:43And it was just so up.
38:45It's not classy to talk about someone you've just met.
38:50Why are you intentionally putting someone down to make yourself feel better?
38:53Be a good person, bitch.
38:54I'll be an octopus.
38:55Hi, Brooke.
38:56Brooke.
38:57You were talking to Ava for so long.
38:58Minding us no nothing.
38:59What were y'all talking about?
39:00Birthday, girl.
39:01How are you?
39:02Cheers.
39:03We're only wondering because everybody's been off in their own little groups all night.
39:16Guys, you know, I don't want to do this.
39:18Well, you have to.
39:19What is it?
39:20Spit it out.
39:21Spit it out.
39:22It's not that big of a deal, but like she was saying how she was surprised that you want
39:27to start a clothing brand.
39:29Excuse me?
39:30Yeah.
39:31And I was like, I can't tell if.
39:34Really?
39:35What's the bull for no reason?
39:37Hold on.
39:38They've asked me the same question five times.
39:41What did happen with Ava?
39:42What were y'all talking about?
39:43What happened with Ava?
39:44So what happened with Ava?
39:46What happened with Ava?
39:47It's like, I don't crack under pressure, but I'll crack under tequila.
39:51No.
39:52No.
39:53No.
39:54No.
39:55No.
39:56I honestly thought that by me saying this, it would be like, oh, diffuse the situation.
40:00I didn't even know it would be a damn situation.
40:02Why don't you go back to the actual circus with your shorts and your little shirt and shut
40:06the up.
40:07She's wearing gold sparkly shorts telling me I have no style.
40:10Like if I wanted to go to Forever 21, I would have.
40:12And I love Forever 21, just not the sparkly section.
40:15That's bull .
40:17I want Ava with a bitch ass attitude.
40:22Like for real.
40:23Honestly, I think it's weird as .
40:25I don't even know what's going on.
40:26I know Ava's a model.
40:27I didn't know she had a clothing line.
40:29Where's the bathroom?
40:30We're going to go pee.
40:31I got to pee really bad.
40:32So I need to calm myself down for a second.
40:34Apparently she knows what's best.
40:36Who?
40:37We're pissing.
40:38It's awesome.
40:39It's Amira.
40:40It's Amira.
40:41Oh.
40:42Wait, wait, wait, wait.
40:44Don't open it too bad.
40:46Apparently it's me.
40:47It's me.
40:48Don't open it too bad, please.
40:49I was just telling Chloe you should go dance on the spot.
40:51Okay.
40:52No, don't freak out.
40:53But there's a situation.
40:55Amira, I know she's your really good friend.
40:58Who, who, who?
40:59Ava!
41:00Yeah, Ariana, Riley were like, what were you talking about?
41:02And so I was talking about how like you were surprised
41:06that Ariana has a clothing brand.
41:09Brooks.
41:10Hello.
41:11What are you doing?
41:12Why did you say that?
41:13Like it was not meant to be serious, obviously.
41:16That being said, I'm not going to pretend I never said anything.
41:19I would say it to her face.
41:20I'll clear it up with her, but like, I didn't mean it in a bad way at all.
41:24I just wanted to have a stupid little streetwear brand that I can build off of until I have the money.
41:28Because sorry, my parents can't pay for anything because I'm paying their bills.
41:32I love you, Brooks, and thanks for introducing me to these people genuinely.
41:36But I don't know if some of these people are for me because I don't know what the is going on.
41:40I literally feel like this girl's Regina George.
41:42I didn't know we were in Mean Girls.
41:44Every time I've seen her, I think she has like the best style for like a fashion designer.
41:49Hi.
41:50I knew you.
41:51Hi.
41:52I knew you.
41:53Hi.
41:54Welcome.
41:55Hello.
41:56Are you okay?
41:57Are you okay?
41:58Are you?
41:59Why are you coming to my brand that you don't even know about?
42:02Next time on Next Gen NYC.
42:07My mom and I have a tumultuous work relationship.
42:10I don't know why you say that.
42:11Are you kidding?
42:12You fired me last week.
42:13What?
42:14We went out.
42:15It wasn't cheap.
42:16Fourteen.
42:17Thousand?
42:18Gross!
42:19It better not be on the card.
42:20I paid for it.
42:21You have no idea the amount of money I've spent in the past few weeks.
42:24I know how much his dad gives him for months.
42:26How much does he get every month?
42:28You're a stupid delusional bitch, Georgia.
42:30Everyone here hates you.
42:32Bro, you would not be on the show this important for me.
