00:00Less than 24 hours after inspecting a huge stash of over 1,300 kilograms of crystal meth at the Pidea headquarters in Quezon City,
00:08the president led a team of law enforcement officials and a gaggle of reporters to a waste processing company in Tarlak
00:15to preside over the destruction of a little over 1.6 tons or 1,600 kilos of an array of dangerous narcotics.
00:23Notably, the president made good on his word to have the media looking on to dispel any notion of illegal drugs recycled.
00:30As our Claizo Pardelia reports.
00:34On June 2nd, carefully wrapped bundles of crystal meth, methamphetamine began shifting toward shorelines of the coast of western to northwestern Luzon.
00:46From Zampales to Cagayan, authorities recovered kilos of high-grade methamphetamine.
00:53Weeks later, the government moved to eliminate the contraband for good.
00:58President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, led the destruction of illegal drugs.
01:08The operation took place at a waste treatment facility in Kapa, Tarlak, where the confiscated contraband was incinerated.
01:17Also included in the burn, nearly a ton and a half put together of marijuana, ecstasy and cocaine seized from various anti-drug operations.
01:50Very, very solid yung system natin from the capture of the illegal drugs all the way until the destruction of the illegal drugs also.
02:04Estimated value of the destroyed illegal drugs is 9.48 billion pesos.
02:11The incineration ensures that none of the confiscated narcotics will ever return to the streets.
02:18President Marcos Jr. also explained the science behind the process.
02:23This will be, the chamber's temperature will be raised to 700 degrees Celsius, which is hot enough to destroy all of the active elements within the drug.
02:39So after na-init na 700 degrees Celsius, hindi na, it will not be shabu anymore, it will not be marijuana anymore, it will not be any drug anymore.
02:51The administration continues to pursue a bloodless but relentless war on illegal drugs, going after syndicates while giving chances for reform to small-time users.
03:07Palalawakin pa ng pamahalaan ang hakbang kontra-droga.
03:12Kasama dito ang pagpapabuti ng sektor sa edukasyon, pagpapakalat ng tamang informasyon at pagtutok sa mental health.
03:20Alongside law enforcement, the government is also providing rehabilitation and reintegration programs for illegal drug offenders,
03:31under a whole-of-government approach to help mitigate the menace of illegal drugs.
03:37Kalei Zalpordilia for the New and Better Philippines.
