00:00Israel claims historic success in Iran campaign, whilst a U.S. intelligence report suggests strikes only set back Iran's nuclear program by months.
00:10102 French citizens arrived in Cyprus after being evacuated from Israel.
00:15Indonesia says it has also evacuated close to 100 of its nationals from Iran.
00:19U.S. President Donald Trump casts doubt over Washington's commitment to NATO's Article 5 as he arrives in The Hague for one of the most important NATO summits in years.
00:30A day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Israel is claiming to have achieved historic success.
00:39Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that his country's 12-day campaign on Iran eliminated a wide array of threats that pose a grave risk to Israel's survival.
00:49The Israeli attacks, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, sought to destroy Iranian nuclear sites and disrupt its rapidly advancing nuclear program.
01:00that Iran will not be a nuclear war.
01:02And so, in all the most important actions that our military forces have carried out, we went back to look at the nuclear war project of Iran.
01:11And if someone, if someone in Iran will try to build this project, we will act with the
01:18same determination, with the same force, to improve every decision like this.
01:23I say, Iran will not be a nuclear weapon."
01:29Trump aboard Air Force One en route to the NATO summit in The Hague also echoed a similar
01:33sentiment.
01:34The U.S. President noted that the ceasefire remained solid as he resolutely ruled out
01:39any chance of Tehran possessing nuclear warheads.
01:42They're not going to have enrichment and they're not going to have a nuclear weapon.
01:45And they know that.
01:46They're going to get on to being a great trading nation and the group of traders.
01:51And they're going to be a great trading nation.
01:53And they have a lot of oil.
01:55They're going to do well.
01:57They're not going to have a nuclear weapon.
02:00The last thing on Iran's mind right now is nuclear weapons.
02:05A U.S. intelligence report released on Tuesday, however, suggested that U.S. strikes on Iran
02:10only set back its program by a few short months.
02:13A report released by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon's intelligence arm, detailed
02:19that most of the damage dealt to Iranian nuclear sites was limited to above-ground structures.
02:24The report also asserted that Iran's centrifuges used to enrich uranium appear to be largely intact.
02:31It's a stark contrast from Trump's Saturday night remarks where he stated that Washington
02:38The White House slammed the report as a, quote, clear attempt to demean Trump.
02:43White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt called the report flat-out wrong, adding that
02:47everyone knows what happens when you drop 14 30,000-pound bombs.
02:54102 French citizens were evacuated from Israel on Tuesday aboard a French military aircraft.
03:01The passengers arrived in the Cypriot city of Larnaca, where they're spending the night
03:05before being flown out to the French capital, Paris, on Wednesday.
03:09Some of the passengers had been stranded in Israel for more than two weeks after the
03:13Israel-Iran war unexpectedly broke out.
03:16The French ambassador to Cyprus added that more French evacuees are set to arrive in Cyprus
03:21on Wednesday.
03:22Meanwhile, Indonesia says it has successfully evacuated 96 of its nationals from Iran.
03:28The Foreign Ministry says 93 civilians and three embassy staff left the country through
03:32land routes via Azerbaijan.
03:3511 Indonesians arrived in the capital, Jakarta, on a Turkish Airlines flight on Tuesday night.
03:4029 others are expected to arrive on Wednesday aboard three flights from Azerbaijan.
03:45Jakarta says 386 Indonesian citizens reside in Iran, many of them students, and all of whom
03:52it plans to evacuate in the coming days.
03:54Evacuations from Iran became increasingly challenging after multiple planned flights were canceled
03:59following the closure of Qatari airspace.
04:02US President Donald Trump arrived at the Royal Palace in The Hague where he will be staying
04:11for the NATO summit.
04:12He was warmly welcomed by the Netherlands' King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima as they
04:17convened with other NATO leaders for a dinner.
04:20Speaking at the dinner, the Dutch monarch urged Trump to continue standing by Ukraine, reminding
04:25him of the grave threat Russia poses to NATO.
04:29Mr. President, it means so much to us to welcome you in our home tonight.
04:35We cherish the bonds of friendship that will always unite our nations.
04:40And Ukraine, which for years has been embroiled in a daily struggle, making great sacrifices to
04:45defend its freedoms and ours is welcome too.
04:50The people of Ukraine, with whom we feel such close ties, deserve our continuing support.
04:57This year's summit is dubbed as one of the most significant in years.
05:00Leaders are expected to decide on a crucial proposal to increase defense spending from current
05:05targets of 2% of GDP to 5%.
05:08The proposal comes after months of Trump's pressure and threats of pulling the US out
05:13of NATO if other members don't, quote, step up.
05:18For decades, the United States sought to get Europe to truly step up.
05:23Now European allies and Canada will equalize their defense spending with the United States.
05:29So let me salute President Trump's long-standing leadership in calling for NATO to increase defense spending.
05:37But Trump continued to court controversy even aboard Air Force One on his way to the summit.
05:44The US president renewed doubts over Washington's commitment to the alliance
05:48as he made cryptic remarks regarding NATO's mutual defense clause.
05:52Questioned by reporters on his commitment to NATO's Article 5, Trump said,
05:57There is numerous definitions, but I'm committed to being their friend.
06:01A deadly Russian strike on the city of Dnipro killed at least 16 and injured more than 100.
06:12That is according to local media.
06:14Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed many homes and schools were damaged
06:19and also a passenger train was struck.
06:22Meanwhile, Russia's defense ministry said the air defense forces shot down 20 Ukrainian drones on Tuesday morning.
06:2914 were downed over the Kursk region while two had been flying over the Moscow province.
06:35Speaking to the Dutch parliament on Tuesday, Zelensky called for more pressure and sanctions on Russia.
06:41Maximum isolation of Russia, that means political isolation, sanctions of all kinds and cutting off any corporation that helps them survive and keep fighting.
06:54It comes as 32 nations leaders head to a two-day NATO summit in The Hague in the Netherlands.
07:01Zelensky has previously expressed his aspirations to join the alliance, yet his bid has been put in a deep freeze by US President Donald Trump.
07:10Neither leader mentioned NATO by name during brief remarks to reporters on Tuesday, a telling sign of Ukraine's status at the summit.
07:19The European controversy continues over whether or not hand luggage should be free in the cabin when travelling by air.
07:33The European Parliament's Transport Committee adopted its position on Tuesday.
07:37For MEPs, air passengers should have the right to take two personal items with them, at no extra charge.
07:44To reach a compromise, however, they had to agree on the size of the luggage.
07:48What we found as a solution is to shrink the size of that hand luggage, because it's more or less with the size of the personal item.
07:59But yes, the proposal of the parliament is to be included in the price of the ticket.
08:04You can have your backpack or a lady purse, which is already the case now.
08:09You can have a personal item and a small hand luggage, which should be the total amount of 100 centimetres in length, height and depth.
08:19The European Consumers Organization welcomed the vote, which was adopted by a very large majority.
08:26The organization believes that this vote is perfectly in line with the Court of Justice ruling that hand luggage of a reasonable size cannot be subject to additional charges.
08:37For its part, Airlines for Europe, which represents 17 airlines, believes that MEPs have taken advantage of this vote to add, in a roundabout way, amendments that deprive passengers of their choice and their ability to decide which services they want to pay for.
08:55The meaning of the MEP's vote runs counter to the decision taken earlier this month by the 27 transport ministers.
09:02The member states propose that airlines should be able to charge for hand luggage when baggage allowances are clearly displayed.
09:09The inter-institutional battle continues.
09:14145 people have been reported being assaulted with syringes during this year's Fête de la musique festival in France, with the targets being mainly young women.
09:26Several people have been hospitalized after being stabbed, and 12 suspects have been detained.
09:32It's a great phenomenon, much more than the previous years.
09:36And it was optimized by this call on social networks to hit women during the Fête de la musique festival.
09:44And another sanitary risk, the fact of hitting women, especially if these seringes are passed from hand to hand.
09:53Officials have yet to say if these were cases of needles spiking with date rape drugs, such as Rohypnol or GHB.
10:02France's Interior Ministry has said it is taking the incident, quote, very seriously, and that an investigation is ongoing.
10:09In a stunning political upset, Democratic Socialist Zohran Memdani declared victory in New York City's mayoral primary on Tuesday.
10:27With much ball is counted, the 33-year-old held a significant lead over former New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was the favorite to win.
10:36Cuomo has since conceded defeat in the race.
10:38The result is seen as a litmus test for the Democratic Party, pitting a young progressive against an establishment moderate.
10:48Memdani, backed by figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, campaigned on free public transport and new taxes on the wealthy.
10:56Cuomo ran on a promise to restore order in the city, but was hampered by a sexual harassment scandal that forced his resignation as governor in 2021.
11:05A general election to decide the final outcome will be held in November, though this week's primary is widely seen as the race that effectively decides who will be the mayor.
11:16While Cuomo concedes the primary, he told the New York Times he is still considering running in November's general election as an independent race.
11:23Memdani is now on track to become the city's first Muslim and Indian American men.
