00:01On the occasion of the commemoration of the 104th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo
00:06and the day of the Bolivarian army, President Nicolás Maduro addressed the people to mark
00:11the day and reiterated his call for world peace.
00:14Let's listen.
00:16Wicked compatriots, glorious army of the Bolivarian Revolution, of the army of the
00:26Venezuelan Liberator of Venezuela, noble people of our Republic.
00:32Today we are commemorating the 104th anniversary of the magnificent victory of the Battle of
00:42Carabobo, the most bright of our military campaign that surprised the world on the day of our
00:51army, Bolivarian army.
00:54This is not a simple date for us.
00:57If we understand the importance that had and has this heroic feed for our history, the history
01:07of our homeland, Carabobo is the point of no return, of our history, unstoppable history.
01:15It was the instant in which we left, stopped being a colonial, a colony from a foreign empire,
01:25and we dared to be a republic united.
01:29That day our sovereignty was burned.
01:32Carabobo triumphed the idea of the great Colombia, and from that strength comes our existence as
01:40a nation with a right to draft its own destiny.
01:46We came from nothing.
01:49And in 1810, that April 19th, we were barely a shutout of freedom, of hope, we were no republic,
02:02we were not a state, we weren't a people.
02:07We had no army.
02:10Eleven years later, we grew up, we defeated the colonialist empire of Spain.
02:19We were an army, we were a people, we were a newborn state, and we were defeating the most
02:27powerful army of the planet Earth.
02:30They had their military priority, and Bolivar next to the Catire Pais, and Negro Primero.
02:40And those shirtless and bare feet on the ground, they built a popular army.
02:47The Soviet army freed Margarita, all the West, all the East.
02:56They were to release our Guayana, including our Guayana Zequiva, and they founded the ongoing
03:05homeland, victorious homeland, and today, from this victory that is very much alive and beats
03:12on our hearts, the heart of a homeland that is growing constantly.
03:16We can say liberators and women liberators.
03:20We are standing still on foot, and we are triumphing.
03:25The victory of June 24th of 1821 wasn't just an act of war.
03:32It was an act of national unity.
03:35Bolivar achieved to gather the strength of indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, farmers,
03:42to the white men, plus united under the same flag, yellow, red, and blue.
03:52It was no army, oligarchic army, aristocratic army.
03:58It was solely popular and cross-mixture and libertator.
04:05It was forged on horse and on foot with their own tactics and beliefs.
04:14This was the most profound, the most profound revolution was the culture.
04:20We are, Carabobo is our spiritual, the, and Carabobo, Hernán Cortés died.
04:28That unity was born from a political ethic that promulgated the equality, social equality above all.
04:38Bolivar was not just a political leader.
04:41He was also a moral leader, a continental leader, defender of the right to self-determination without imperialist mandates.
04:50Carabobo, from then, since then, is not just from Venezuela.
04:55It is from all of our America, Latin America, Caribbean America.
05:01There, it was the beginning of the end of the Spanish Empire and the newborn of the great homeland, according to Bolivar.
05:09In that moment, the Carabobo triumph was the triumph of the arms of Colombia.
05:15That great homeland that is calling from the future with the voice of a hopeful people.
05:24But the struggle hasn't stopped here.
05:27Today, that struggle continues.
05:30We are facing new domination forces, criminal sanctions, blockades, psychological warfare, hybrid warfare.
05:41And in the face of our eyes, the threat of a world war there.
05:47That is why Carabobo is a mirror from the presence.
05:51And the answer is the same one.
05:53Unity, clarity, courage, and trust in our people.
05:58Our Bolivarian Armed Forces is not an apparatus.
06:02It is a conscience, a life conscience.
06:05Its doctrine is Bolivarian, popular, defender of the homeland.
06:12And each soldier, and each militiaman, Carabobo is still very fresh and alive.
06:18And if something Venezuela needs is that its youth receives that legacy, not with nostalgia, but audacity.
06:25Being a youth man and women is to be a protagonist of the new Carabobo, is to organize, is to build community, is to reject any type of individualism.
06:37The struggle is worn by values, ideas, and loyalty to the homeland.
06:43You youth are the new spiral of the independence of the 21st century.
06:51Carabobo opens the path that will reach until Ayahuasca.
06:56That will reach until the foundation of the great Colombia.
07:00And the idea that Latin America march in a single power block, very much united.
07:08And the dream of Bolivar is unfulfilled.
07:12It is on the making.
07:14And it is victorious in these new historical times.
07:18Venezuela is the great bastion of resistance of Bolivar's dreams.
07:24And even when many betrayed him, we remain firm.
07:29One year before Carabobo, Santana, Tujillo, Bolivar and Murillo signed the first modern treaty of the international law, humanitarian law.
07:39And I'm naming it a true deal, sacred deal.
07:45There it was born, the idea of a war of principles and respect and humanity.
07:51Today, when Zionism is threatening Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
08:05When Zionism is upgrading the countries of the world, the peoples of the world.
08:12Venezuela from Carabobo, victorious Carabobo is called for an international summit for the craziness and madness of Hitler.
08:22And fascism that destroy a great part of humanity do not repeat again.
08:26We ask for respect of the self-determinations of the peoples.
08:30We demand respect for the public and international respect.
08:35We demand respect for the right of the peace of the peoples.
08:39And demand the end of all imperialist wars.
08:42And the defense of the self to life as the sacred, most sacred right that our peoples have.
08:49No more adventures, Nazi fascism adventures that threaten the entire planet.
08:55Today, on the day of our glorious army, Bolivarian army, in which I want to congratulate and we say in one single voice that no one made a mistake with Venezuela.
09:10We are the same of yesterday. We are Carabobo very alive. We are Bolivar. We are Negro Primero.
09:18But two centuries later, we are wiser and more united and more free and more ours.
09:27We came from Carabobo and as long as Carabobo is alive, Venezuela will be an example of freedom, of justice and rebelliousness.
09:36Here in Carabobo we say long left to the spirit of our liberators. Long left to the immortal fire that lights us.
09:46Long left to the great homeland of Bolivar. Long left to the army of the Bolivarian army of the people of Venezuela.
09:55Long left Carabobo forever. We will prevail.
10:01And we were listening to President Nicolás Maduro as he reiterated his call for world peace during the commemoration of the 200th and 4th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo and the day of the Bolivarian army.
10:14This is all for the moment but stay tuned with Telesur English for more.
