Tom Homan Shares Message To Farmers: 'There's A Right Way And Wrong Way To Hire Workers'

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Border Czar Tom Homan shared his message to farmers.

00:00What do you say to farmers who are growing increasingly concerned that

00:04immigration enforcement is going to hurt their ability to do their jobs and thus

00:09hurt the U.S. economy?

00:11Well, first of all, there's a right way and wrong way to hire workers.

00:15There are legal programs that bring farm workers in.

00:18Second of all, I've been saying for years, Congress needs to address this.

00:22But because Congress fairly does, it doesn't mean we ignore it.

00:24It's illegal to hire, annoyingly hire a new animal.

00:28But like I just talked about a few minutes ago,

00:31worksite enforcement operations, just like at-large operations,

00:35we're going to base them on priority, right?

00:37For those who have a criminal nexus of trafficking, of forced labor,

00:41of tax fraud or tax evasion, I mean, we will concentrate on worksites

00:47on a prioritized basis, just like we do at-large operations.

00:51So anything, let's just go farm and look for illegal aliens.

00:54We'll prioritize those who have a criminal nexus first.
