00:00After 40 years on the market, Klondike is discontinuing its Choco Tacos.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most iconic, nostalgic, and delicious snacks that are no longer made.
00:13Whether sweet or salty, junk food or sugary drink, it's all fair game for this list.
00:18Nujella 123, the only dessert that tops itself.
00:23Number 50, Fruit String Thing.
00:25You can do a slide-on-down thing, an off-the-ground thing, a juggle-off thing, and eat some more thing.
00:34How could a kid not like fruity spaghetti?
00:36Whether you preferred strawberry, cherry, or berry-and-blue, Fruit String Thing was a classic school lunch and after-school snack for 90s kids.
00:43And its appeal stretched beyond just taste.
00:46There was something distinctly satisfying about pulling a piece out of the pouch, watching its tangy goodness extend to great lengths, and twisting and bending it into different shapes.
00:54Unfortunately, the snack didn't make it through the 2000s.
00:57Whether its discontinuation was nutrition-related or competition-related or both, what we do know is that Fruit String Thing made its mark on many childhoods.
01:06Fruit String Thing.
01:08Brand new. Way better.
01:10Fruit String Thing. It's a whole new thing.
01:13Number 49, Girl Scout Juliet's.
01:15Juliet Gordon Lowe founded Girl Scouts of the USA in 1912.
01:19Decades and even a century-plus later, many people have come to associate the organization with cookies.
01:25There have been a lot of Girl Scout cookies over the years, so it's easy to forget some, particularly the discontinued varieties.
01:32But what we want to know is how they could discontinue a cookie named after the woman who founded the organization.
01:37Yeah, that happened.
01:38Between 1993 and 1996, you could get your hands on a box of Juliet's, caramel, and pecan clusters covered in a chocolate coating.
01:46Sounds good, right?
01:47Well, not good enough to keep around, apparently.
01:50Number 48, Surge.
01:51Surge. It's a fully loaded citrus soda with carbos.
01:55Beat the rush.
01:56The Coca-Cola company released this citrus-flavored soda in the United States in 1997,
02:01but it didn't experience the surge in popularity the company was hoping for.
02:05Production was halted in 2003, but that wasn't the last we'd hear from Surge.
02:10Its departure from store refrigerators led to fan petitions and a popular Facebook group dedicated to bringing the drink back.
02:16Maybe those calls to Coca-Cola's consumer affairs hotline actually worked,
02:20because Surge briefly returned to convenience stores in the eastern U.S. in 2015,
02:25and later became available at Burger King in 2018.
02:28The taste and formula of Surge these fans have been craving for years remains the same.
02:33Let's do it. Here we go to Surge.
02:34During the 2010s, BK, Valero Corner Stores, and Cinemark Theaters even released limited-time slushy versions of the drink.
02:42But shortly after, Surge vanished back into the shadows of soda history.
02:47Surge, life's a scream.
02:49Number 47, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pies.
02:52Their mind go delicious, you know that's true, because they're filled with mutagen goo.
02:57That's vanilla puttin' goo.
02:58These limited-time treats were true to their name in all their green glory.
03:02Released in 1991 by Hostess, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pies may not have looked like something you should eat,
03:09but that didn't stop people from enjoying them while they could.
03:11Inside, the deep-fried green frosted crust lay sweet vanilla pudding.
03:15Oh no! They did it again!
03:18Michelangelo, stay right there!
03:22Bon appétit!
03:23Also inside each nostalgic package featuring a picture of a ninja turtle,
03:27you could find a trading card or sticker to go along with your treat.
03:30If you loved these fun little pies anywhere near as much as Michelangelo loves pizza,
03:34you were probably pretty bummed when Hostess stopped making them within the year.
03:38What do you got there?
03:401991's delicious cream-filled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pies, fresh from the sewers to me!
03:46Are they made from real turtle?
03:48Probably.
03:49Number 46, Apple Newtons.
03:52Fig Newtons were invented in the 1890s.
03:55Over the years, Nabisco has gone on to test the waters outside of the original Fig Newtons
03:59by introducing multiple variations of their soft, chewy, and fruity cookies.
04:03One of those was Apple Newtons, which came out in 1992.
04:06But by 2012, when the product name was changed to simply Newtons, dropping the fig,
04:12the Apple flavor was no longer available.
04:14Raspberry and Strawberry got to stick around, so why not Apple?
04:17Nabisco rolled out a baked Apple and Cinnamon flavor, but they just don't hit the same.
04:22Number 45, Keebler Merry Mint Patties.
04:24The Keebler elves, as they're known to do,
04:27really got into the holiday spirit with Merry Mint Patties.
04:30These chocolate-covered shortbread cookies,
04:32decorated with green squiggles on the outside and filled with mint-flavored cream,
04:35didn't stick around for as many holiday seasons as fans might have hoped.
04:39While Keebler Fudge Mint Delights still offer a minty option from the famous cookie company,
04:43their texture and flavor are noticeably different,
04:46and the appearance is far less festive and far more basic than that of the Merry Mint Patties.
04:50Still, who knows?
04:52As another holiday season approaches,
04:54maybe the Keebler elves will decide to dust off an old recipe.
04:57Number 44, Pop-Tarts Pastry Swirls.
04:59You think I was born yesterday?
05:01Out of the car.
05:03New Pop-Tarts Pastry Swirls.
05:04During the 1990s, Pillsbury's toaster strudels welcomed a competitor to the playing field
05:09in the form of Kellogg's Pop-Tarts Pastry Swirls,
05:12which were bigger, thicker, and fluffier than regular Pop-Tarts.
05:15Oh yeah, and like the standard Pop-Tarts,
05:17no freezer or refrigerator necessary.
05:20Pop-Tarts Pastry Swirls offered a more classic, authentic pastry vibe,
05:24coming in flavors like Cheese Danish, Cheese and Cherry, Apple Cinnamon, and Strawberry.
05:29However, it was an unsuccessful experiment.
05:32Sales weren't high enough, and by the early 2000s, the product was discontinued.
05:37At least the market for regular Pop-Tarts has continued to thrive.
05:40It's a harmonious celebration as cherries and cream cheese come together in a deliciously flaky pastry.
05:46Number 43, Mickey's Parade Ice Pops.
05:49But whoever saw a parade you could eat?
05:51Mickey's Parade is here!
05:55There's no shortage of fictional character-inspired Popsicles these days.
05:59Even so, it'd be nice if you could still find Good Humor's Mickey Parade Ice Pops in the freezer aisle.
06:04Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case since the early 2000s.
06:07These throwback Popsicles debuted in the 1980s,
06:10with boxes featuring Disney icons,
06:12cherry-flavored Mickey, grape-flavored Donald Duck,
06:15and orange-flavored Minnie and Goofy.
06:17Why were both Minnie and Goofy orange?
06:19Who knows?
06:20But on a scorching summer day, they were a great way to cool off.
06:24And while Mickey's Parade Ice Cream Bars are also long gone,
06:27at least you can still get a taste of that chocolate and vanilla nostalgia
06:30with a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar at Disney Parks.
06:33Number 42, Shark Bites Fruit Snacks.
06:36Any fan of gummy candies or fruit snacks will tell you it's about more than just the taste.
06:47It's also about the shape and design.
06:49Well, Betty Crocker's Shark Bites proved that.
06:51In each pouch, you'd find multiple shark species.
06:54Hammerhead, Mako, Tiger, and Great White.
06:5790s kids know those Great White Sharks were something special.
07:00In 2016, the flavors were modified in an effort to eliminate artificial ingredients.
07:06But the texture, taste, and overall quality of shark bites suffered.
07:09While not officially discontinued, they became endangered,
07:13either removed from retail websites entirely or listed as sold out or unavailable.
07:17Even if these fruit snacks were to swim back to shore,
07:20the original shark bites are likely extinct for good.
07:23You've got to eat them before they eat you.
07:27Intent!
07:28Number 41, Nabisco Giggles Cookies.
07:35Fudge and vanilla cream on the inside and smiley face cookies on the outside.
07:39What's not to love?
07:41Nabisco Giggles Cookies made a lot of kids smile in the 80s.
07:44Whether you opted for the ones with chocolate or classic cookies on the outside,
07:47there was something alluring about having two types of cream inside.
07:51Me, I like the two kinds of cream inside.
07:54There's vanilla and fudge in each one.
07:56They're great, right?
07:58Not just one.
07:59And there weren't just smiley faces on the outside.
08:02There were silly faces too.
08:03Hence the kid giggling in the commercial.
08:05Maybe they weren't that funny, but they were good.
08:07Apparently not good enough to make it to the 21st century though.
08:11New peanut butter and fudge, giggles, cookies.
08:13Two kinds of cream in each funny face.
08:15Number 40, Pepsi Blue.
08:16Pepsi Blue, a new fusion of berry and cola.
08:19This berry-flavored soft drink launched in 2002.
08:22Many of those who tried it considered it more sugary and syrupy than regular cola beverages,
08:27to an over-the-top extent for some.
08:29The color of Pepsi Blue certainly made it pop visually in a different way than your typical soda.
08:34But the very thing that created that appearance, blue one die, was controversial.
08:37No one ever said soft drinks were supposed to be healthy,
08:40but there's a reason that ingredient is banned in some countries.
08:43Despite large-scale advertising efforts, including commercials featuring Britney Spears,
08:48Pepsi Blue didn't gain the popularity to keep it around for more than a few years.
08:52It did return briefly in 2021 for a limited time run, but that was it.
08:57Pepsi broke the news to customers with an ad that included the throwback tune you heard just a second ago,
09:01I'm Blue by Eiffel 65.
09:03Number 39, Waka Donuts.
09:05New double chocolate Waka Donut.
09:08They looked like donuts and even had donut in the name.
09:11But Waka Donuts weren't actually donuts.
09:14Rather, they were chocolate covered in sprinkles with a truffle-like inside.
09:17They came out in 2005 ahead of the release of the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
09:21If you were lucky enough to find a golden ticket inside a Waka Donuts pack,
09:25you would have earned a trip to Europe.
09:27Pretty cool, right?
09:27You found Waka's last golden ticket in my shop too!
09:33Well, unfortunately, these treats never became anything more than a fun, edible, promotional memory.
09:39Peanut Butter Oompas, characterized as peanut butter and chocolatey cream in a candy coat,
09:44are even older nostalgic Waka treats that are no longer around.
09:47But Waka Donuts had a bit more flair and uniqueness, which earns them a spot here.
09:52Number 38, Keebler Munchums.
09:54Our new Keebler Munchums are crispy little crackers that crunch like chips.
09:58These baked snacks were a chip-cracker hybrid that came in flavors such as original, cheddar, and sour cream and onion.
10:05For chip and cracker enjoyers, Keebler Munchums provided a simple yet game-changing combination.
10:10Crispy, savory, and as the name suggests, perfect to munch on.
10:14You gotta respect the Keebler elves for adding a bit of pizzazz with the hexagonal shape as well.
10:18Munchums came out in the early 90s, but they were off-shelves by the mid-2000s.
10:23New Keebler Munchums.
10:24Another cleanup I'll find.
10:26Chips have gone crackers.
10:28These days, at least Cheez-It Grooves are around to scratch a similar itch in this snack niche.
10:32Number 37, Little Debbie Boston Cream Rolls.
10:35These dense, cream-filled cake rolls drizzled in chocolate were just one of many tasty, sugary snacks Little Debbie has whipped up over the years.
10:43Sadly, their days are now in the rearview.
10:45While you can still buy Boston Cream Yodels from Drake's, also owned by McKee Foods, Little Debbie's parent company, they're just not the same.
10:53The texture, ingredient composition, and flavor balance are different, in a bad way, according to many customer reviews.
10:59Plenty of fans would be thrilled to see Little Debbie's Boston Cream Rolls make a comeback after their discontinuation in 2023.
11:06Number 36, Ecto Cooler.
11:08In the late 1980s, Minute Maid rebranded their Hi-C Citrus Cooler drink by having it join forces with Ghostbusters.
11:20Disgusting blob.
11:23I'm gonna have to hold it myself.
11:24While Ecto Cooler may have still had the tasty orange tangerine flavor, there was no mistaking its iconic greenness.
11:31The juice's success pleasantly exceeded expectations, sticking around even after the cancellation of the real Ghostbusters cartoon series in 1991.
11:39In fact, it continued to run under the name Ecto Cooler until 2001.
11:44It would change names one more time five years later before ultimately being discontinued shortly thereafter.
11:48Ecto Cooler made a limited-time return ahead of the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, giving fans one more taste of sweet nostalgia.
11:56Let's go.
11:57Let's go.
11:57Oh, did you want to?
11:59I'll let you.
11:59I'll let you.
11:59Next time.
12:00Number 35, Carnation Breakfast Bars.
12:03New Carnation Breakfast Bar.
12:05Smooth chocolate.
12:07Crispy nuts.
12:08Crunchy centers.
12:09For anyone who finds themselves in need of a quick on-the-go breakfast or a daytime snack,
12:13Carnation Breakfast Bars used to be a great choice,
12:15particularly in the 70s when the options for such a thing were not nearly as extensive as they are today.
12:21In many ways, when considering all the similar granola bars that have come out since,
12:24Carnation Breakfast Bars were ahead of their time.
12:27Relatively rich in protein and nutrients,
12:29they had the classic combination of granola, peanut butter, and chocolate,
12:32both in the form of coating and chocolate chips.
12:35People kept enjoying them throughout the 80s and into the 90s,
12:38but they disappeared from shelves before the turn of the century.
12:41New Carnation Breakfast Bar.
12:43The instant breakfast you can get your teeth into.
12:46Number 34, Keebler Tato Skins.
12:48Elves know better.
12:50We use the whole potato, skins and all, to put big taste in Tato Skins snack chips.
12:55In the 1980s, the Keebler Elves took the potato chip game to uncharted territory
13:00by making use of the outer part of the potatoes.
13:02And it worked.
13:03Crunchy and flavorful, Keebler Tato Skins had all the ingredients for an addictive snack.
13:08They came in multiple varieties.
13:10Sour cream and chive, cheddar and bacon, barbecue, and good old baked potato.
13:14By 2000, however, they were discontinued.
13:21O'Boise's, a more traditional but still well-liked potato chip from Keebler, met a similar fate.
13:26These days, TGI Fridays produces its own line of potato skin chips,
13:30but they just don't carry the same nostalgic appeal.
13:33Number 33, Eggo Mini Muffin Tops.
13:35Many would agree that the top part of the muffin is the best part.
13:39Just ask Elaine Bennis.
13:40I'll tell ya, that's a million dollar idea right there.
13:43Just sell the tops.
13:44So, when the famous frozen breakfast brand Eggo came out with their Mini Muffin Tops,
13:48there was bound to be demand.
13:50They came in classic flavors like blueberry and chocolate chip,
13:53offering Eggo a chance to dominate a unique breakfast niche
13:56and expand its reputation outside of its more traditional products like waffles and pancakes.
14:00Introducing new Mini Muffin Tops from Eggo.
14:04We've saved the best part of the muffin, that flavorful, fluffy top, just for you.
14:10Unfortunately for fans, Mini Muffin Tops never became a staple,
14:13and nowadays, you won't find them at your local supermarket.
14:17Number 32, Kudos Bars.
14:19Outrageously right, new Kudos granola snacks.
14:23Talk about an awesome sidekick to your main course for your school lunch,
14:26and the perfect after-school snack too.
14:28In 2011, Kudos Bars took iconic Mars candies like Snickers, M&M's, and Dove,
14:34and essentially infused them into granola bars.
14:36This made for a soft, crispy, chocolatey, and jaw-droppingly tasty treat.
14:41While they were in fact granola bars, in many ways, they felt like candy bars too.
14:46However, in 2017, Kudos Bars were discontinued.
14:50Technically, their history dates back to well before they included those Mars candy classics.
14:54Originally released in 1986,
14:56they gained a reputation through three flavors,
14:59Nutty Fudge, Chocolate Chip, and Peanut Butter.
15:02All we have to say is kudos to you Kudos Bars, because it was a great ride.
15:06Simply nutritious, outrageously delicious.
15:10Kudos, I'm yours.
15:12Number 31, Little Debbie Cosmic Cupcakes.
15:15We're gonna launch Cosmic Cupcakes into space.
15:18Cosmic brownies are a Little Debbie classic that many people are familiar with.
15:22Now take that cosmic theme with its colorful, candy-coated chocolate chips and soft, chocolatey goodness,
15:27and make it into a cupcake.
15:29What do you get?
15:29Well, Cosmic Cupcakes, of course.
15:31These mouth-watering treats had vanilla cream in the center as well.
15:35Just visually, you could tell that these things were out of this world.
15:38They were even launched into space one time.
15:40Sadly, though, in 2017, Little Debbie posted a tweet announcing that her epic Cosmic Cupcakes were being discontinued.
15:47Hopefully, someday, they'll return to our world.
15:50Number 30, Hostess Chocodiles.
15:54After originally being sold in stores across the U.S.,
16:01Hostess Chocodiles were later available only on the West Coast.
16:04These snack cakes were a delicacy, chocolate-covered sponge cakes with a cream filling.
16:09Some have argued they were simply chocolate-covered Twinkies.
16:12Even a hostess employee once confirmed that was the case.
16:15Yet others believed there was a noticeable difference in texture and moisture.
16:19Whatever the case, these things were the real deal.
16:21Look no further than Roger from American Dad.
16:24Oh! Oh! Oh my God, how good are these?
16:30Chocodiles had a good run, too.
16:32Debuting in the 1970s and lasting until the 2010s.
16:36Even if a company manages to produce something similar,
16:39good luck coming up with a name as good as Chocodiles.
16:42So fans of the retro treat Twinkies have another reason to be excited this weekend
16:45because they're making their way back onto store shelves.
16:48They were apparently gone for almost a decade.
16:51Actually, we have some producers who stockpiled them.
16:53Number 29, Squeeze It.
16:55Unless you're in the United Kingdom, you can no longer get your hands on Squeeze It's.
16:59And even then, these aren't 100% the same ones you knew and loved in North America.
17:04You don't just drink a Squeeze It.
17:06You squeeze a Squeeze It.
17:08That's a shame because these things are the very definition of childhood nostalgia.
17:12This fruit-flavored juice was made by General Mills
17:15and came in a unique plastic bottle that you had to squeeze to drink.
17:19Check this out.
17:20There's nothing really fancy about the juice itself,
17:23but the bottles were a fun novelty for kids.
17:25And the bright colors certainly drew eyeballs.
17:28Squeeze It was a staple of the 80s and 90s,
17:30and it periodically appeared in stores throughout the early 21st century.
17:34But they haven't been around since 2012.
17:37Go ahead!
17:38Squeeze the fun out of it!
17:40Number 28, Smucker's Snackin' Waffles.
17:43Smucker's is a huge company,
17:45but not all of their products are home runs.
17:48Case in point, the very short-lived Snackin' Waffles.
17:51Brand new from Smucker's.
17:53It's the Smucker's Snackin' Waffles.
17:55These were your basic frozen waffles,
17:57only they came with pre-sweetened flavors like blueberry and maple,
18:01so that you didn't need to use syrup.
18:03The tagline told you all you needed to know.
18:06Ready to eat already sweet.
18:07There's a ton of chocolate chips in here,
18:10and it's like gooey chocolate chips.
18:11They were first released in 2011,
18:14but discontinued just one year later owing to poor demand.
18:17Luckily, the nostalgic among you are in luck,
18:19as a company called Arlington Valley Farms
18:22has taken on the mantle and released their own version of a Snackin' Waffles.
18:29Number 27, Heinz Easy Squirt.
18:32Look, we love innovation as much as the next person,
18:35but come on, purple ketchup?
18:37What were they thinking?
18:37Uh, ingredients say Heinz tomato ketchup, and then coloring.
18:43Every kid who grew up in the early 2000s
18:46surely remembers Heinz Easy Squirt,
18:48which was basically just ketchup,
18:49but, you know, green, purple,
18:51and a few other non-conventional ketchup colors.
18:53The condiment came in plastic bottles that were easy to squeeze,
18:56and the funky colors were a huge draw for children
18:59who didn't want to use boring old red ketchup.
19:01But like all novelties, the fun quickly wore off.
19:05That and countries were beginning to clamp down on foods with artificial dyes,
19:09which certainly did not help.
19:10The problems coalesced, and the ketchup was discontinued in 2006.
19:15Heinz Easy Squirt.
19:17It's fun for your food.
19:20Number 26, Starburst Hard Candy.
19:23Starburst is one of the biggest names in the candy biz,
19:26going strong since 1960 and drawing intense debate among fans.
19:30Are you a sweet pink person or a tangy yellow?
19:33Is red the greatest candy ever created,
19:36or do you throw them in the trash?
19:37All these questions and more were raised with the hard candy,
19:41which was basically just Starbursts, but, well, hard.
19:44Trevi's Starburst Hard Candy.
19:47All the flavors were here,
19:49including a mysterious white one that some say tasted like pineapple,
19:52but may have been apple.
19:54Unfortunately, many people loved the soft, chewy texture of Starbursts,
19:58so the hard candy suffered and sales never sparked.
20:01It was quietly discontinued in the early 2000s.
20:05Need a boost?
20:05Give it some juice.
20:07Number 25, Sun Chips Sweet and Spicy Barbecue.
20:10Not every flavor can be a winner.
20:12Sun Chips were introduced back in 1991
20:14and made big waves with their intense, powerful flavors,
20:18like French onion and the standard favorite, Harvest Cheddar.
20:21There's nothing quite like that delicious sun-drenched taste.
20:24Back in 2013, Frito-Lay introduced a new flavor
20:28called Sweet and Spicy Barbecue
20:29that garnered a small but devoted fan base.
20:35Amazing.
20:36Unfortunately, it was a little too small,
20:38and the new flavor was eventually taken off store shelves
20:41by around the mid-2000s.
20:43It is now impossible to find,
20:45and the flavor has been removed from the official lineup
20:48on the Sun Chips website.
20:50I love these chips. They're amazing.
20:51Number 24, Nestle Treasures.
20:54One of the biggest conglomerates in the world,
20:56Nestle has certainly made its fair share of chocolate.
20:58When you need one, ignore everything else.
21:03But not all of their products were winners,
21:05like Nestle Treasures,
21:07a fun little chocolate with a gooey center.
21:09These small candies came individually wrapped
21:11and contained a rich, viscous center
21:13with flavors like peanut butter, caramel, and coconut.
21:16They're new, and they're definitely women's domain.
21:19Unfortunately, the chocolate biz is just way too competitive,
21:23and delicious though they may have been,
21:25there was nothing inherently special or unique about Treasures.
21:28Alas, it was sadly discontinued,
21:31and is now but a nostalgic reminder
21:33of the late 1990s, early 2000s.
21:36New Nestle Treasures.
21:37Number 23, Ben & Jerry's Tennessee Mud.
21:40Ah, the 80s were wild.
21:42It was a time when unsupervised children
21:44rode rampant on their bikes,
21:45and you could buy ice cream infused with booze.
21:47You slipped me a bottle of bourbon,
21:50a little glass, and some ice.
21:53And this wasn't some niche brand either.
21:55This was Ben & Jerry's.
21:57Introduced in 1988,
21:58Tennessee Mud was a coffee ice cream
22:00with almonds, amaretto, and Jack Daniels.
22:03Unfortunately, the demand for Tennessee Mud
22:05was just not there,
22:06and it was discontinued after one year.
22:09It is now in the company's flavor graveyard.
22:12With the brilliant epitaph,
22:13the bottle is empty, the cup, and the glass.
22:16Mud with Jack Daniels was not meant to last.
22:24Number 22, Danan Sprinklins.
22:27It's amazing what some companies think of.
22:36Danan is a yogurt giant.
22:38Kids like sprinkles in their yogurt.
22:40So Danan thought,
22:41why not combine the two?
22:43That's how we got Danan Sprinklins,
22:44which was just yogurt that came
22:46with a packet of sprinkles.
22:47A surprise in every cup.
22:49The sprinkles added a nice dash of color for kids,
22:52and they would eventually blend into the yogurt.
22:54Unfortunately, the little candies
22:56were not enough of a draw
22:57to entice potential buyers,
22:58and the product was discontinued
23:00in the early 2000s.
23:02Luckily, sprinkles still exist,
23:04so you can easily make this yourself at home.
23:06Danan Sprinklins,
23:07the only yogurt snack in the sprinkles pack.
23:09Number 21, Fiery Habanero Doritos.
23:12While there are still Doritos flavors
23:18out there for spice lovers,
23:19none of them quite have the same profile
23:21as Fiery Habanero.
23:23These fittingly came in an orange bag,
23:25containing a long list of ingredients,
23:27including tomato powder,
23:28garlic powder,
23:29onion powder,
23:30and various cheeses
23:31to at least partially balance out the fiery heat.
23:33Fiery Habanero Doritos.
23:37These chips came out in the mid-2000s,
23:39but to many fans' displeasure,
23:41were discontinued just several years later.
23:44Black Pepper Jack Doritos
23:45were another 2000s fan favorite
23:46that many would like to see make a comeback.
23:48But the Fiery Habanero flavor
23:50gets the slight edge here for its boldness.
23:52Number 20, Choco Tacos.
23:54The Choco Taco was invented in 1983 by Alan Drazen,
23:59who recognized a sugary take on the taco
24:01would make for a delicious treat.
24:02After satisfying sweet tooths for nearly four decades,
24:06the Choco Tacos' time finally came to an end,
24:08to the dismay of many people
24:10who ever tasted this classic ice cream treat.
24:12A lot of us have fond memories
24:13of grabbing a Choco Taco
24:15from an ice cream truck on the street or in the park.
24:17Eventually, they became widely available
24:19in supermarkets and convenience stores as well.
24:21Choco Taco fans are vocal
24:23about the decision on social media.
24:26They are also flooding the Klondike website
24:28with comments in protest.
24:30But during the COVID-19 pandemic,
24:32Klondike had to make some tough decisions
24:34about the future of its portfolio,
24:36as demand for other products surged.
24:38Sadly, the Choco Taco
24:40was put on the chopping block in 2022.
24:42Still, we can't help but hope
24:44the iconic ice cream treat isn't gone forever,
24:46just taking a hiatus.
24:47Almost immediately, hearts melted
24:49and stomachs growled
24:50when Klondike parent company Unilever announced
24:53production of the Philadelphia-born
24:55Jack and Jill ice cream treat,
24:57the Choco Taco, would be no more.
25:00Number 19.
25:01Butterfinger BBs.
25:02For years, Bart Simpson warned us
25:04that nobody better lay a finger
25:06on his Butterfinger.
25:07You won't mind if I take a bite
25:08of his crispity, crunchity peanut...
25:11No!
25:12I told you, Homer.
25:15Nobody better lay a finger
25:16on my Butterfinger.
25:17But when it comes to Butterfinger BBs,
25:20no one's been able to lay a finger
25:21on them since 2006,
25:23not even the Bartman himself.
25:25The candy, which is basically
25:26a little ball version
25:27of the chocolate bar,
25:28had a good run
25:29beginning in the early 90s.
25:31New Butterfinger BBs!
25:35Unbelievable, snackable balls of...
25:38But for some reason,
25:44we're not sure why,
25:46in 2006, they were done.
25:48Three years later,
25:49they introduced Butterfinger Bites
25:50in an attempt to win back fans.
25:52And while some surely appreciated
25:54the new bite-size option,
25:55for others,
25:56they'll just never be as good
25:57as the BBs.
25:58Math is easy.
26:00Let's say you have 15 Butterfinger BBs,
26:02and I take five of them.
26:04What do you have left?
26:05One less sister.
26:06Number 18.
26:07Pizza Spins.
26:08Pizza is one of the most
26:10popular foods in the world.
26:12And along with real pizza,
26:13folks have always had an affinity
26:15for pizza-flavored snack items as well.
26:17And that isn't just
26:18a modern-day thing either.
26:20This was also the case
26:21back in the 1960s and 70s,
26:22when General Mills introduced
26:24their little wagon-wheel-shaped
26:25bites of pizza deliciousness
26:27called Pizza Spins.
26:28Pizza.
26:29They took this pizza taste
26:30and turned it into a crunchy,
26:32munchy, mouth-sized snack.
26:33According to the General Mills website,
26:36they used tomatoes,
26:37Parmesan cheese,
26:38peppers,
26:39and pizza spices,
26:40quote,
26:40to give Pizza Spins
26:41an authentic Italian pizza taste.
26:44And it must have worked,
26:45because although discontinued in 1975,
26:47people are still talking about them today.
26:50Can humans resist Pizza Spins?
26:52Man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man.
26:54Number 17.
26:55Doodads.
26:56Who doesn't love a mixed snack bag?
26:58Well, from the 60s through the 90s,
27:00and maybe even into the 2000s.
27:02One such yummy combination involved
27:04toasted peanuts, pretzels, rice squares,
27:07wheat squares, and cheese tidbit crackers.
27:09It's called a party mix.
27:11Well, we call it a doodad.
27:12We always call them doodads around Christmas.
27:15We always make these and we give them as gifts.
27:17Kind of sounds like Chex Mix, doesn't it?
27:19But it most definitely is not.
27:21It's doodads from Nabisco,
27:22and for decades,
27:23it was a very popular snack mix.
27:26Then come the 90s,
27:27and it wasn't as popular anymore.
27:28And doodads became boodads.
27:31Because people who loved them
27:32were sad to see them go.
27:33Awful dad joke aside,
27:35if you want to see what all the fuss was about,
27:37you could try making your own doodads mix at home.
27:40Number 16.
27:41Pizzeria's Pizza Chips.
27:43While most of us probably associate
27:45the Keebler elves with cookies,
27:47back in 1991,
27:48those cute little guys took some fresh pizza dough
27:50and cooked up the Pizzeria's Pizza Chips.
27:52Come on down and taste something new.
27:54They're right, Uncle Ernie.
27:56In your dreams.
27:58Peace!
27:58Pizza!
27:59Bizaric Man Chips!
28:01New Pizzeria!
28:02The chips made their debut with three flavors.
28:05Cheese Pizza,
28:06Pizza Supreme,
28:07and Zesty Pepperoni.
28:08And they were an instant hit.
28:10However,
28:11by the end of the decade,
28:12the Keebler company had been sold,
28:14and the Pizzeria's were discontinued.
28:16Allow me, boys.
28:20Pizzeria's!
28:21Tastes like real pizza!
28:22That hasn't stopped fans of the chips
28:24from trying to bring them back, though.
28:25As of the end of 2021,
28:27a couple of Bring Back Pizzeria's Chips Facebook groups
28:31were sporting over 7,000 followers.
28:34Number 15.
28:35Hershey's Kissables.
28:36No, don't worry.
28:37Hershey's Kisses still exist and aren't going anywhere.
28:40No, here we're talking about kissables,
28:42which, if you don't remember,
28:43were basically Hershey's Kisses with a candy coating.
28:46If you're thinking it sounds like a bigger,
28:48kiss-shaped M&M and sounds delicious,
28:50it was, and it was.
28:51Kissable, blissable, laughable, blissable,
28:53innable, loudable, eatable, treatable,
28:55colorful, candy shall colorful,
28:56candy shall colorful, candy shall chocolate inside.
28:58So why did they go away in 2009,
29:00just four years after they launched?
29:02That's because, in 2007,
29:04the Hershey company made some cost-cutting moves
29:06that included replacing the cocoa butter
29:08with cheaper fats in some of their candies,
29:10including Kissables.
29:11People noticed, and they did not like it.
29:14Sales dropped, and that was the end of Kissables.
29:18Number 14.
29:19Hostess Choco Bliss.
29:20Take two layers of chocolate cake,
29:22sandwich a layer of chocolate cream in between,
29:24top it off with chocolate icing,
29:25and there you have the aptly named Choco Bliss.
29:28Whoa, check that super chocolatey icing.
29:31Awesome!
29:32Ooh!
29:33Hey, whipped chocolatey cream inside.
29:35Billed as a chocolate lover's dream,
29:38these Hostess snack cakes were a lunchbox favorite
29:40of many 80s kids.
29:42They sound like they'd be a favorite of ours today as well,
29:45had they not been discontinued decades ago.
29:47Choco Bliss.
29:48A dream come true.
29:49One, two, three.
29:51I'm relaxed to see.
29:53New Choco Bliss from Hostess.
29:55Watch out.
29:56We don't know why Hostess gave up on them,
29:58but we do know there are online forums
30:00filled with commenters lamenting the fact
30:02that they can no longer get their hands
30:04on this bliss from their childhood.
30:06Number 13.
30:07Oreo Sippers.
30:08As we make the move to try and save our planet,
30:11more and more countries are putting in place
30:13bans on plastics.
30:15Most notably, plastic bags and plastic straws.
30:18Two of the largest recycling facilities in the US
30:21said its machines don't always catch straws.
30:24So, they end up in the trash and eventually in landfills.
30:28And while we wholeheartedly support such bans,
30:30we also don't always love the paper straws
30:33that some restaurants now use.
30:35But you know what's better than paper?
30:37Oreos.
30:37But you can't make a straw out of an Oreo.
30:40Yes, you can.
30:41And they did.
30:42They were called Oreo Sippers,
30:44and they were awesome.
30:45Because not only were they a straw,
30:47but they were also delicious.
30:49Um, is there anything more eco-friendly
30:52than actually eating your utensil?
30:54Come on, Oreo, bring them back.
30:56For the sake of our planet.
30:57Number 12.
30:58Pringles Sticks.
31:00We all know that with Pringles chips,
31:02once you pop, you can't stop.
31:03But back in the 2000s and early 2010s,
31:06Pringles also gave us Sticks.
31:08New Pringles Sticks.
31:10The crispy cracker Sticks
31:12with a one-of-a-kind taste.
31:15And once we had Sticks,
31:16we couldn't quits.
31:18Okay, so maybe we need to work on our tagline game,
31:20but that does not take away
31:21from how good these Sticks were,
31:23especially the honey butter and cheese-flavored ones.
31:26Crunchy.
31:27Whoa, this one's real good.
31:30I can taste the honey.
31:31However, while the Sticks had a loyal fan base,
31:34as Pringles posted on their Twitter account
31:36back in 2020,
31:37quote,
31:38Pringles Sticks were discontinued
31:39in this sector of the universe
31:41due to lower demand.
31:43Number 11.
31:44Jell-O 1-2-3.
31:45If you aren't already jealous of kids
31:47who grew up in the 80s and 90s,
31:49here's one more reason to be,
31:50or should we say,
31:51one, two, and three more reasons.
31:54Jell-O 1-2-3 was a magical dessert
31:56that, like classic Jell-O,
31:58came in one packet.
31:59However, unlike the OG Jell-O,
32:01the 1-2-3 version would split
32:03into three layers
32:04during the three-hour wait time.
32:06What could compete with a dessert
32:08that actually forms three layers
32:10right before your eyes?
32:12A creamy layer,
32:13a fluffy layer,
32:14a layer of fruity gelatin.
32:16While we can't speak to the taste,
32:18one of the problems with the product
32:19was that making it
32:20wasn't as easy as 1-2-3.
32:22Getting the three layers just right
32:24required a blender
32:25and the introduction of both boiling
32:27and cold water
32:28at precise speeds and times.
32:30Jell-O 1-2-3 was discontinued in 1996.
32:33Something that your kids
32:35would absolutely love,
32:36easy to make,
32:37and you can also substitute
32:38your favorite sugar-free
32:39Jell-O gelatin product
32:40that you'd like.
32:41Number 10, PB Crisps.
32:43It began with a nut and a bolt
32:44that shook his top hat
32:46with a jolt.
32:47PB Crisp, an idea for a munch.
32:49You just know a snack is missed
32:51when there are groups
32:52on multiple platforms
32:53asking for their return.
32:55PB Crisps were one such snack,
32:57a small graham
32:58that looked like a little peanut
32:59but filled with huge flavor.
33:01With graham cookie
33:02outside for crunch.
33:04Inside the center so sweet.
33:05Peanut butter cream.
33:07Oh, a treat.
33:08That's because inside
33:10there was some delicious
33:11peanut butter filling,
33:12while PB and J Crisps
33:14added jelly,
33:15and chocolate crisps
33:16were filled with,
33:17you guessed it,
33:18chocolate.
33:19It was the combination
33:20of crispiness,
33:21sweetness,
33:22and nuttiness
33:23that made us crave
33:25PB Crisps
33:25back in the mid-90s.
33:26And we would do
33:28just about anything
33:29to have them back.
33:30PB Crisp, PB Crisp, PB Crisp.
33:32The sweet taste
33:33that is destined for fame.
33:35Number 9.
33:35Jello Pudding Pops
33:36Jello brand pudding pops
33:38made with the goodness
33:38of real jello.
33:39Imitation may be
33:40the sincerest form of flattery,
33:42but nothing quite beats
33:44the real thing.
33:45This is a running thread
33:46for many of these snacks
33:47such as Jello Pudding Pops
33:48because it isn't as if
33:49frozen pudding on a stick
33:50has gone away.
33:51It's more that the
33:52trademarked brand
33:53and that trademarked taste
33:55is no more.
33:56You rich, creamy-tasting
33:57Jello brand pudding pops.
33:59All the goodness
33:59of real jello pudding
34:00frozen on...
34:01Jello pudding pops
34:02were a summertime staple
34:03throughout the 1980s
34:04and beyond.
34:05A creamy and indulgent
34:07frozen treat.
34:08The OG pudding pops
34:09were lost
34:10after General Foods
34:11sold the name to Popsicle,
34:12which used their own
34:13flavoring and production methods.
34:15The good news
34:16is that you can
34:17technically make these
34:18at home
34:18if you buy the jello molds,
34:20some milk,
34:21and a little bit of nostalgia.
34:23Jello brand pudding pops.
34:24All the goodness
34:25of real jello pudding
34:26made with milk
34:26so you know
34:27it's wholesome.
34:28Number 8.
34:29Peanut Butter Boppers
34:30Good old
34:30creamy peanut butter
34:32is gone.
34:32Boppers!
34:33Trust us when we tell you
34:35that you have not lived
34:36unless you've had
34:37peanut butter boppers
34:38in your mouth.
34:38This crispy, creamy,
34:40and utterly delicious snack
34:41was almost sinful
34:42in its ridiculous indulgence.
34:44The snack was from
34:45the Nature Valley Company,
34:47which today
34:47is more closely associated
34:49with healthy-ish
34:50granola snacks.
34:51There was nothing
34:52remotely health-conscious
34:53about peanut butter
34:54boppers, however.
34:55Unless we're counting
34:56the protein
34:57in the peanut butter?
34:58Peanut butter boppers!
35:00It's creamy peanut butter,
35:01a crispy coating,
35:02and a whole lot more!
35:05Regardless,
35:06this creamy PB center
35:07was smooth
35:07and velvety in texture.
35:09A mouthfeel
35:10that clashed
35:11in the best way possible
35:12with those crispy crunchies
35:14on the outside.
35:15Seriously,
35:15someone find us
35:16some peanut butter boppers.
35:17Peanut butter boppers!
35:19New from Nature Valley.
35:20What a snack!
35:22Number 7.
35:23Flintstones Push-Up Pops
35:25Push-Up Pops
35:26were around in the 80s
35:27and are still around today.
35:29But they were
35:30at their most popular
35:31and, according to many,
35:32their yummiest
35:33from 1990 to 1996
35:34when they were branded
35:36as Flintstones Push-Up Pops.
35:37Fred, Barney, Wilma 2
35:39make every bite
35:41more fun for you!
35:42Push-ups!
35:43Flintstones Push-ups!
35:44Something about that
35:45modern Stone Age family
35:46made pushing frozen treats
35:47out of a cardboard tube
35:48so much better,
35:49and that much more
35:51yabba-dabba delicious.
35:52Flavors like
35:53Lime Rock Lime
35:54and Bedrock Berry
35:55were just as good
35:56as their puns.
35:57It takes a dinosaur
35:58to bring you a taste
35:59this big!
36:00Fruity Flintstone Sherbet
36:01and creamy cool vanilla.
36:03And they even
36:04had a Pebbles Push-Ups line
36:06that added nerds candies
36:07to the frozen goodness.
36:09Number 6.
36:10P.B. Max
36:10It don't stand
36:11for piggy banks
36:12Platinum Blonde
36:14Peace Baboon.
36:15Let's face it,
36:16candy bars come and go.
36:17Most without
36:18much fanfare.
36:19There are some
36:20serious calls
36:21for the return
36:22of the P.B. Max,
36:23however.
36:23A Mars candy creation
36:25that really was
36:26something else.
36:26The final form
36:28of P.B. Max
36:28wasn't just peanut butter
36:29and chocolate,
36:30but a delicious cookie
36:31topped with P.B.
36:33and then covered
36:34in sweet chocolate heaven.
36:35P.B. means peanut butter.
36:37Real peanut butter.
36:38Lots of real peanut butter.
36:40In pure milk chocolate
36:41with the crunch
36:42of a whole grain cookie.
36:43The most frustrating thing
36:44about the P.B. Max's
36:46demise is that
36:47it actually sold
36:47really well.
36:49However,
36:49the Mars family
36:50reportedly didn't like
36:51peanut butter.
36:52Or money,
36:53apparently.
36:53So they used
36:54this subjective opinion
36:55as a means
36:56for the P.B. Max
36:57axe.
36:58What a waste.
36:59P.B. Max,
37:00we mean peanut butter.
37:01Number 5.
37:02Cheetos Twisted
37:03It may seem
37:09as if there's
37:10a new flavor
37:10of Cheetos
37:11available every week.
37:12So you'd be forgiven
37:13if you didn't notice
37:14that Cheetos Twisted
37:15no longer exist.
37:16New Twisted
37:17Cheetos snacks.
37:18These curly Q-shaped
37:19Cheetos snacks
37:20were thicker.
37:21Meaning more of that
37:22finger staining
37:23cheese dust
37:24to coat your fingers.
37:25They also arrived
37:26armed with that
37:27patented Cheetos crunch
37:28and were available
37:29from around 2002
37:30to 2012.
37:32But all good things
37:33must eventually
37:34come to an end.
37:35The Cheetos folks
37:36discontinued their
37:37Twisted brand.
37:38But never fear
37:39because the company
37:40is bound to create
37:40something similar
37:41down the line.
37:45Number 4.
37:46Yogos
37:47Parents will often
37:57do just about
37:58anything to get
37:58their kids to eat healthy.
38:00But even the busiest
38:01folks have their limits.
38:02Yogos weren't trying
38:03to masquerade as
38:04healthy fruit or yogurt
38:05but instead were
38:07sugary fruit-flavored
38:08snacks with a yogurt
38:09coating on top.
38:10They were an acquired
38:11taste to say the least
38:12but millennials
38:13were on that taste
38:14back when they were
38:15kids as Yogos
38:16seemed to be on top
38:17between 2005
38:18and the beginning
38:19of the 2010s.
38:20Snow go on the Yogo.
38:22Chewy, sweet, sour
38:24and available in
38:25varieties of berry flavors,
38:26Yogos were perhaps
38:27too unique for this world
38:29and burned so bright
38:30that they could never
38:31be brought back.
38:32Ah, what a blast!
38:33Just like new
38:34Go-Go Gorilla Migs.
38:35Seriously, rough stuff.
38:37Number 3.
38:38Philadelphia Cheesecake
38:39Snack Bars
38:40Ooh, Philly Snack Bars.
38:42Hey, ever think to yourself,
38:44I've been good.
38:45Why shouldn't I have
38:46cheesecake for a snack?
38:47Mmm, cheesecake.
38:51What?
38:52This is heaven.
38:54No?
38:54It was just us?
38:55Oh well.
38:56We have no regrets
38:57about devouring this
38:58indulgent snack
38:59from the Philadelphia people.
39:00Small, snack-sized
39:02cheesecake squares
39:03available to eat
39:04any hour of the day.
39:06You want the
39:06graham cracker bottom?
39:07You get the
39:08graham cracker bottom.
39:09You want sweet icing
39:10and fruit laced over
39:11that thick cheesecake
39:12deliciousness?
39:13Shut the front door
39:14and eat these slices
39:15of heaven in private
39:16because we guarantee
39:17you're gonna have a moment.
39:18We can only hope
39:19and pray that the next time
39:20we stroll by our
39:21grocer's freezer,
39:22this classic snack
39:24will be staring back at us.
39:25Treat yourself to the
39:26rich and creamy
39:27cheesecake taste
39:28of Philadelphia Snack Bars.
39:29Here you go, Philly.
39:30There are little
39:31tastes of heaven.
39:32Number 2.
39:33Hershey's Bites
39:34Get out, they drew with me.
39:38The Hershey's Company
39:39has so many delicious
39:40snacks under their belt,
39:42it's easy to forget
39:42that there's also
39:43plenty of forgotten classics.
39:46Hershey's Swoops were won,
39:50but the penultimate spot
39:51on our list goes to
39:52the much-missed
39:53Hershey's Bites.
39:54No, not the candy bites,
39:56but this even crunchier
39:57and more snackable concoction
39:58that came in a variety
40:00of flavors.
40:01Hey, look who just showed up!
40:03Introducing new
40:04Kit Kat and Heath Bites!
40:05You get the feeling
40:06everyone is staring at us?
40:07What?
40:07Is my bag open?
40:09Rolos, Kit Kats,
40:10Peppermint Patties,
40:11and more were all
40:12shrunk down and packaged
40:14in a size that was perfectly
40:15geared for guzzling.
40:17Unfortunately,
40:18they posed a choking hazard
40:19for some,
40:20and most of the line
40:21was discontinued.
40:22However,
40:23Hershey's website does say
40:25that limited flavors
40:25can be purchased direct,
40:27but don't go scouring
40:29store shelves for this one.

40:44Number 1.
40:48Keebler Magic Middles
40:49If there were ever
40:58a snack cookie king,
41:00this was the one.
41:01The mighty Keebler elves
41:02truly outdid themselves
41:04when they magically
41:05concocted the recipe
41:06for the perfect treat.
41:07The shortbread wasn't
41:18too sweet
41:18and held its integrity
41:20against that chocolatey
41:21or peanut buttery
41:22flavor core
41:23that burst onto
41:24your taste buds
41:24with the force
41:25of a fudgy freight train.
41:27Oh, and if you warmed
41:28these bad boys
41:28in the microwave
41:29for a few seconds,
41:30absolute heaven.
41:32We're not sure
41:33if we can go
41:33all the way
41:34to the top
41:34of the Keebler elf
41:35hierarchy for some answers,
41:37but we are desperate
41:38for Magic Middles
41:39to be made available again.
41:40New Magic Middles
41:41from Keebler.
41:43Genius.
41:43Pure genius.
