During a Pentagon press briefing, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth were asked about the strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.

00:09Were they given any advance warning the attacks were coming?
00:12And also, Mr. Secretary, when were congressional leaders notified how long before the attacks
00:18took place?
00:19SECRETARY POMPEO- Sir, to your first question, you know, the risk has clearly
00:23been rising over the last few weeks in the region.
00:27Based on that, and not a particular awareness of this operation, we've made smart decisions
00:33to minimize the risk to U.S. forces in the region.
00:36So they were given no advance warning?
00:38No, sir.
00:39In the congressional?
00:42They were notified after the planes were safely out, when we complied with the notification
00:48requirements of the War Powers Act.
00:49After the attacks, they were notified?
00:51They were immediately thereafter.
