Chris Young on Rangers lineup improvements despite Corey Seager's struggles

The Rangers' maligned lineup has been hitting better as of late, even as their star shortstop has struggled mightily at the plate. Team president Chris Young joined the GBAG Nation to talk about Corey Seager's prolonged issues at the plate and more in the video above.

00:00as you mentioned the issues with runners in scoring position that the timely hitting i mean i know

00:19that's things that it's cliche and we talk about but certainly it's kind of hovering over the club

00:23right now no you're right and we know that and i think that some of that's just the guys putting

00:29a little extra pressure on themselves in those situations and we have to just relax and know

00:33that this is a team game and if one guy doesn't get it done the next guy certainly can pick his

00:38teammate up and each guy doesn't have to do it every time they're up at the plate but i think

00:44they're putting that individual pressure on themselves and the game's hard especially when

00:49you're pressing and so we've got to find a way to get those big hits or have quality at bats with

00:54runners in scoring position and um and start pushing across more runs i think the difference

01:00from early in the season was that we really weren't getting opportunities with runners in scoring

01:05position now we are we're putting base runners on base we're getting opportunities with runners in

01:10scoring position but now the next step is finding a way to get that big hit with the runner in scoring

01:15position and extending the inning cory seeger is so fascinating and so great with his intensity and

01:20sort of this mystique behind his preparation is is he one of the guys that's pressing what's going on

01:25with cory right now yeah i think so i think cory he's such a perfectionist and he's so dedicated to

01:32his craft and he knows how important he is to our team um i have no doubt that he's pressing a little

01:37bit um and that's part of the issues that we're seeing uh in terms of his performance but i also have

01:42complete confidence that this is cory seeger who's one of the best players in the game he was an

01:46mvp candidate a couple years ago um he truly is a remarkable player and a special player and um he's

01:53going to get through this he'll figure it out um but i think for everybody all of our hitters just

01:57to relax and go up there and just have quality at bats and um not put too much pressure not expand

02:03not let the situation dictate um their mentality rather let their mentality be the same in every

02:09situation and i think if we can do that we'll start scoring some runs here
