LIVE | Trump Issues Ultimatum To Iran | Israel Iran War Updates | Netanyahu | Khamenei | N18G

US President Donald Trump’s self-imposed two-week delay to decide whether to strike Iran has sparked confusion and conjecture in Israel.
Some of Israel’s most senior officials had openly pushed for US involvement, arguing that American military involvement can shorten the conflict and allow Israel to achieve its goal of removing what it has long perceived as an existential threat of a nuclear Iran armed with ballistic missiles.

U.S. President Donald Trump delivers an address to the nation on US military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. This comes as US attacked three Iranian nuclear sites, joining Israeli air campaign as Tehran promises to retaliate.
“I will be giving an Address to the Nation at 10:00 P.M., at the White House, regarding our very successful military operation in Iran. This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR. THANK YOU!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

00:00United States base there. The Iranians had been warned that Qatar was, had warned Qatar that the
00:05strikes were coming, meaning that the United States likely knew ahead of time as well to expect some
00:09kind of retaliation. The president says as a result, as a result of that attack, that no
00:14Americans were harmed and hardly any damage was done. That U.S.-run air base was evacuated days
00:20ago, and it comes after a head-spitting 24 hours that we have been watching as this war has played,
00:25as this activity has played out between Israel and Iran. And that includes after the president
00:30himself yesterday floated the idea of regime change in Iran, which the vice president had
00:35this to say about tonight after he ruled it out. Brett, what I've said is the American military,
00:42that is not our mission is regime change. Our mission was to destroy the nuclear facilities
00:46and the nuclear program of Iran, which we, of course, did. I think what the president's also
00:50said is that the Iranian people want to make a decision about regime change. That's between
00:54the Iranian people and the regime. Well, I think what the president is saying very clearly,
00:58Brett, is if the Iranian people want to do something about their own leadership,
01:02that's up to the Iranian people. We begin tonight with our reporters on the ground.
01:08CNN's Aaron Burnett is by the Strait of Hormuz, obviously a critical front that we've been watching
01:13as this has played out. Anderson Cooper is on the ground in Tel Aviv. And Anderson, I just want to
01:17read to you as we've been watching to see and wait for formal responses from the Israelis and from the
01:23Iranians. The foreign minister of Iran is now weighing in on the president's announcement tonight.
01:29They're denying that there is a formal ceasefire agreement. As he says that as of now, there is no
01:35agreement on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. He says, quote, however, provided that
01:40the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 a.m.
01:46Tehran time. We have no intention to continue our response afterwards.
01:54Yeah, it's a little confusing given, you know, whether the term agreement is is there is for
02:03whatever reason they don't they don't want to use. It does seem like they are going to be stopping along
02:08the same timeline that the president seemed to indicate remains to be seen. If this happens,
02:13as you said, according to the president's timeline, this should these these dominoes should begin to
02:19fall in about three hours from now. So we will obviously be watching very closely to see what
02:24happens as dawn really starts to break here in the region. There was quite a rebuke from one of the
02:30president's closest allies on Capitol Hill, even if she's not framing it that way. We heard from
02:35Republican Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene accusing the Trump administration of a bait and switch
02:39over the U.S. decision to strike Iran on Saturday night. She wrote in part today, quote,
02:45I spent millions of my own money and traveled the entire country campaigning for President Trump
02:50and his MAGA agenda and promises. Only six months in and we are back into foreign wars,
02:55regime change and World War Three. As she explained her criticism to my colleague Manu Raju up on Capitol Hill.
03:01It's OK for me to to disagree that with President Trump, that's perfectly fine.
03:09MAGA is not a cult and I'm entitled to my own opinion. I can support the president at the same
03:15time as I say, I don't think we should have foreign wars. And I can tell you right now,
03:19President Trump doesn't want to stay in a foreign war either.
03:23After tonight's announcement of a ceasefire from President Trump, Congresswoman Greene wrote this.
03:28Thank you, President Trump, for pursuing peace. My source tonight is Republican Congressman Mike
03:33Lawler of New York, who is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Congressman, just first on her
03:38argument here, do you believe Iranian strikes are what MAGA voters voted for when they elected Donald
03:45Trump back into the Oval Office? Well, Marjorie is certainly entitled to her own opinion. She's not
03:50entitled to her own set of facts. And the fact is that President Trump made very clear,
03:55both in his first term and again when running for reelection to this second term, that Iran could
04:02never have a nuclear weapon. And obviously, they were at the closest point to having a nuclear weapon
04:10and over the past year showed that they were willing to use ballistic missiles on Israel in the
04:16hundreds to try and eradicate the state of Israel, wipe out and kill Jews and Americans. Folks have to
04:24remember, there are over 700,000 Americans that live in Israel at a given time. They are dual citizens.
04:30And so this was a very precarious situation. The president did pursue peace. He did try to end
04:38Iran's nuclear program through a negotiated settlement. They chose not to. He gave them 60 days
04:44and they failed to come to an agreement. And so ultimately, Israel, in defense of their own country,
04:51made a decision and the president made the right decision and a constitutional one at that. Under
04:58Article 2, he has the authority. And I would just remind all of my colleagues, whether it be Marjorie
05:03Taylor Greene and Thomas Massey or Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer and every Democrat calling for
05:09President Trump's impeachment. The fact is that Joe Biden and Barack Obama both relied on Article 2,
05:16both relied on 2001 and 2002 AUMFs to strike in Syria, in Libya, in Iraq, in Pakistan during their
05:25administrations. President Trump was wholly justified in ending Iran's nuclear program.
05:32And whether Marjorie Taylor Greene likes it or not, he fulfilled his commitment to the American
05:37people. And obviously, that has been an argument about whether or not he should have come to Congress.
05:42You can point to other presidents. I think some people can look at that and say...
05:44Congress was notified. Respectfully, Congress was notified.
05:48I'm saying to come to Congress to get authorization to launch strikes, not just to notify them.
05:53But on the argument that your colleague Marjorie Taylor Greene is making, when the president says,
05:58God bless Iran, and yesterday wrote, make Iran great again, is that something that you subscribe to?
06:05Well, I think all of us want lasting peace in the Middle East. And frankly, over the last 19 months,
06:12with what Israel has been able to accomplish, with the support of the United States, you have seen
06:18Hamas and Hezbollah decimated. You've seen the fall of Assad in Syria. You've seen Iran's air defense
06:25system completely obliterated, and their nuclear program on the verge of collapse. And so the fact is,
06:33we are actually in a better place today for lasting peace. And hopefully, the Iranian regime
06:40will finally wake up to the fact that their, you know, operation as the greatest state sponsor of terrorism
06:47cannot exist. And either they will recognize that fact, and they will seek peace, or they won't.
06:54But I think what the president has been able to do in the last 48 hours, to not only make a difficult
07:01but necessary decision to take out Iran's nuclear facilities...
07:05But can I ask you on that front...
07:07...but to broker an actual ceasefire within 48 hours is pretty remarkable. And frankly,
07:12every American should be rooting for success here.
07:15Okay, Congressman, on the goals that the president said on Saturday night of the U.S. strikes,
07:21he is insisting today that the nuclear program has been completely destroyed, obliterated...
07:26Dealing with that annoying itch while working out? Or just enjoying your day? Switch to Moise

07:38pH of 5.5. This soap-free formula deeply cleanses, while moisturizing and maintaining your skin's
07:45delicate barrier. Thermatologist tested, and ideal for sensitive skin. Say goodbye to dryness,
07:50and hello to a more soft and hydrated skin.
07:57Obviously, we are going to find out more information in the coming days. But all of us should be
08:03recognizing the important step that was taken. It was a necessary step. And I fully support the
08:10president's decision here. You know, as chair of the Middle East and North Africa subcommittee, I was in
08:16Israel just three weeks ago meeting with the prime minister. I was in Jordan meeting with King Abdullah.
08:21I was in Saudi Arabia meeting with the foreign minister. Everybody agreed Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,
08:28and obviously steps have been taken. And the fact is, and you asked one of the senators this,
08:34they would not have come to terms of a ceasefire this quickly had the attack not been successful.
08:39And the fact is, had President Trump not made that decision, there is no doubt in my mind we would
08:46still be in conflict here. Congressman Mike Lawler, thanks for your time tonight.
08:51Good evening. I'm Abby Phillip in New York. We begin with a monumental and a roller coaster
08:56night of developments from the Middle East. It appears that Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire
09:02after 12 days of a region-changing battle, a deal that President Trump first announced. It comes just
09:08hours after Iran retaliated against the United States for the operation that targeted three nuclear
09:14sites. Now, today's response targeted a U.S. base in Qatar, but was limited in its scope and one that
09:21Iran gave a heads up to the United States about. There were no casualties that were reported in that
09:27attack and no real damage either. In fact, the president actually thanked Tehran for the, quote,
09:32weak response and suggested that this was the beginning of peace. CNN's Anderson Cooper is live
09:38in Tel Aviv for us tonight. Anderson, what does the situation, where does this all stand? What is Iran
09:44saying about whether there is a deal? Has everyone agreed to it? Yeah. So, Abby, I mean, according to
09:51President Trump's social media post, the clock on this ceasefire is supposed to start in about two hours.
09:59Now, it remains to be seen exactly how that plays out, but it is a remarkable turn of events,
10:05as you mentioned, given what we have witnessed during just the last 12 hours here in the region.
10:09Iran's retaliation strike on the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East in Qatar was
10:15limited, to say the least, and according to the reporting, actually telegraphed in advance to
10:21authorities in Qatar, whom they have good relationships with, and therefore also to the U.S. as well. Now,
10:27Iran publicly announced the number of missiles they fired toward the U.S. base was the same as the
10:34number of bombs dropped on two of Iran's nuclear sites by the United States. So the Iranian regime
10:40portrayed the strike to its own people as a strong response. The reality is there were no reports of
10:47any injuries at all or damage of note. Now, Iran is in perhaps the weakest position they have been in
10:54with proxy forces like Hamas and Hezbollah, badly, badly damaged, and the change of leadership, of
11:02course, in Syria. There are as many questions, though, remaining about what happens next. I mean,
11:08assuming a ceasefire does in fact take place and holes, there's difficult diplomacy and negotiations
11:14that would lie ahead. But with dawn about to break here or just starting to break here in Tel Aviv,
11:20this day could have begun in any number of ways. But at least today, this morning in Israel, in Iran,
11:26and the region itself, there is a chance that no missiles, no bombs, no armed drones could be fired
11:32today. And that is certainly good news, Ed.
11:34Yeah, it's good news. And it's extraordinary, given the high stakes of the situation that we're in.
11:40Anderson, thank you very much. Stay safe out there. And we'll stay close with you
11:45throughout this story. Back here in the studio, President Trump is hardly
11:48the first president to talk the talk when it comes to Iran. But was he the only one to walk the walk?
11:58From the beginning of our administration, we have moved to counter Iran's support of international
12:02terrorism. At the same time, we have tried to stop its quest to acquire weapons and mass destruction.
12:08For the sake of peace, the world must not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.
12:15Let there be no doubt. America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon,
12:21and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal.
12:24We will not, let me say it again, we will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.
12:34Here in the studio, Jamil Jaffer, um, was it that all these other presidents overestimated
12:40Iran? And ultimately, is this the victory that it seems to be for Trump's
12:45decision to actually go forward with these pretty high stakes attacks?
12:49Well, look, at a minimum, Abby, the president was able to successfully conduct an operation
12:53where he took out three major sites in Iran where they were obtaining nuclear capabilities,
12:58enriching uranium and the like. And so at a minimum, that's a big win for the United States,
13:03a big win for the region, a big win for the world. Does that mean Iran won't eventually obtain
13:07a nuclear weapon? Of course not. Does it set them back a significant amount? Absolutely. And is that
13:12an important part of this operation for the world and for the region? 100%.
13:16Too early to take a victory lap? No. I'll be glad to take one.
13:21I know you are. I mean, I guess at the end of the day, though, the question is,
13:26how do we actually get Iran to not have a nuclear weapon? That's really where we're at.
13:31Well, functionally, we did it, you know, with these strikes. I mean, what he did was
13:36a courageous move. And working in concert with our special partner, Israel, you know, we let them
13:41pummel them, take out their air defenses, and then we swoop in the way only we can with these B-2
13:47bombers and these special massive ordinance penetrators, and we deal with the situation.
13:53So it was great tactically. Ultimately, ultimately, the only way to get Iran to stop seeking a nuclear
13:59weapon, I suppose, would be if the people of Iran rose up and tossed these butchers out and got
14:04themselves a new government. I'm not suggesting that we should be involved in that. But you would hope
14:09someday that the people of Iran would decide to have, you know, something more like a normal
14:14government where, you know, you're not constantly trying to get nuclear weapons to bring about the
14:18end of the world, which is effectively what they're constantly trying to do. But today is a great day
14:22for America. It's a great day for Western civilization.
14:24Scott, my problem is the Trump administration is taking a victory lap as if they're the only ones
14:29who planned this. And I understand.
