00:04at what's coming up in the week ahead.
00:07The Royal Society is hosting its Summer Science exhibition this week, showcasing the latest
00:11research from across the country with interactive exhibits, activities and talks. Highlights
00:16this year include being able to walk in an elephant's footsteps to uncover how vibrations
00:21help animals communicate and sense their environment, as well as being able to get hands-on with
00:25a new Surgical Sensation, a glove that's been designed to measure the smallest of forces
00:31to help train surgeons more precisely, affordably and safely.
00:37In music, the streets of Brighouse Town Centre will come alive with the sound of brass on
00:40Sunday. The 24th annual Brass Band March and Hymn Tune Contest is being hosted by Huddersfield
00:46Lions Club and is promising a full day of music, energy and community spirit. Around 20 bands
00:54in full regalia will parade through the town and they'll be competing for trophies including
00:59for musicality, marching and solo performances.
01:04In sport, the Wimbledon Tennis Championships will begin today and will be played over 14 days
01:09until July the 13th. Two of Yorkshire's emerging tennis talents have been handed wild cards into
01:15the tournament. That's Francesca Jones of Bradford and Hull's Johannes Munday who've got a place
01:21in the singles draw. It'll be 24-year-old Jones's third appearance at Wimbledon.
01:28Monday has never played a Grand Slam singles match before.
01:32In arts, the annual Home Firth Art Week gets underway on Sunday. It's one of the country's largest
01:38open arts exhibitions, featuring more than 400 exhibitors and 2,000 artworks. A large number
01:44of exhibitors are from the area, but the event attracts visitors from all over the UK to view
01:49and buy. It also supports national and local charities, having raised over 1.1 million for
01:55good causes since it first started in 1966.
