00:00The Armed Forces marked a historic milestone yesterday with the promotion of Major General Johnny Lim to the rank of Lieutenant General,
00:09making him the first senior Malaysian Chinese officer to attain the three-star rank.
00:14The promotion ceremony was officiated by Armed Forces Chief Nizam Jafar and witnessed by all service commanders.
00:21In a statement, the Armed Forces said his promotion highlights that opportunities within the Armed Forces
00:27are accessible and grounded in merit and service excellence.
00:31It added that this will also inspire greater interest among non-Malays to pursue a career in this noble profession.
00:38Lim, a Malacan native, studied at the St. Francis Institution from 1973 to 1983.
00:45He underwent cadet training under the 25th regular commissioning course
00:49and subsequently trained at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in the UK
00:53before being commissioned into the Ranger Regiment.
