00:00Dutch police broke up a climate protest taking place on a highway ahead of an
00:06annual NATO summit in The Hague. Dozens of climate activists attempted to block
00:12the highway near the city, urging NATO leaders to prioritize environmental
00:17issues and accelerate peace-building efforts. Dutch police blocked the
00:23demonstrators path and made several arrests.
00:27There's a meeting going on in the next few days from NATO where they talk about
00:33security of the world and security of the West but the climate crisis is not on
00:37the table, it's not on the agenda. We think it's important that it comes on the agenda
00:42because it's an even larger trap worldwide than the trap from Russia.
00:47We cannot continue like this. If we do not act now and do not stop these greedy
00:53billionaires that are destroying everything, they are destroying society,
00:58they are destroying nature, they are destroying humanity.
01:02Several other demonstrations are expected in The Hague on Tuesday and Wednesday as
01:08NATO leaders including US President Donald Trump will be in the city. At the
01:12summit leaders are expected to agree on higher defense spending demanded by Trump.
