00:00Hello, welcome to your Monday afternoon weather update. It's a little fresher out there for
00:05most of us, certainly compared to the back end of last week. The Atlantic is influencing
00:09our weather a lot more and out in the Atlantic, this large area of clouds is heading our way.
00:14That's going to make for a bit of a damp start, certainly tomorrow for much of the country.
00:19Ahead of that though, we've got some bright and breezy conditions, quite a few isobars
00:22on the charts, quite gusty and blustery across parts of northwest Scotland and an old weather
00:27front still providing cloud and rain across the northeastern corner, lingering over the
00:31northern isles for much of the day. But elsewhere, many places seeing some good spells of sunshine.
00:36There will be showers feeding into western Scotland, some getting through the central belt into
00:40southern Scotland, the odd one skipping through into northern England at times this afternoon too.
00:45But for many, as I say, we won't see too many showers, certainly much of the south and east
00:49staying dry, some good spells of sunshine here through the end of the afternoon. And in the east,
00:54it's still reasonably warm, temperatures a touch above average here, 22, 23, maybe 24. For many
01:00places that we are going to be in the teens and that breeze certainly making it feel quite a bit
01:05fresher, especially so in western Scotland, where the showers will continue to blow in through the
01:10evening time. And then we look to the west, that area of cloud we saw on the satellite picture
01:14just moves in across northern Ireland. So it turns damp here, but it then spreads its way into much
01:19of central southern Scotland, northwest England and Wales. Notice the brighter colours, some heavier
01:24bursts of rain through the early hours over north Wales, northwest England, especially over the hills
01:28here, turning quite soggy by first thing on Tuesday morning. Much of the south and east stays dry, some
01:34clear spells here, but still quite a warm night actually. Temperatures in towns and cities mostly
01:38holding up in the teens, temperatures held up by the cloud and the breeze and the outbreaks of rain,
01:44which will make for a pretty wet start for Manchester, down through north Wales, up across the Lake
01:49District into southwest Scotland. The rain will continue for much of the morning, in fact, but tend to
01:55peter out a little through the afternoon. Further outbreaks of rain will come and go through central
01:59Scotland for a time across northern Ireland, although it does look a bit brighter here come the afternoon,
02:04and we'll see some bits and pieces of rain for a time further south too. But actually, they should also
02:09tend to clear away, and the cloud will break up a little bit over parts of the Midlands, East Anglia and the
02:14southeast. Some decent spells of sunshine developing here come the end of the day. And here, actually
02:19feeling quite warm and quite humid. We could easily get temperatures to 25, maybe a degree or so higher in one or two
02:25places. Feeling quite humid still with this damper zone over northern England and north Wales. I say the rain should
02:32peter out a little through the day, but still some showers to come through the afternoon, and a mixture of showers and
02:37cloud across much of Scotland. Again, not too many showers getting to the east, so largely dry here. So it's a bit of a
02:43messy picture through the course of Tuesday. Again, not as warm as last week, but temperatures are starting to rise a
02:50little bit with a bit more of a build in humidity as well as we go through Tuesday evening and overnight. Still some
02:56rain trickling into the west coast of Wales, some showers coming into western Scotland. Also, something we need to watch for
03:02later on Wednesday, some thunderstorms, again, spreading up from parts of the south. But Aidan has more on
03:08that in our week ahead video that will be available on our YouTube channel by Monday afternoon.
