00:03:55Look at that.
00:03:57Look at it.
00:03:59Oh, isn't it horrible?
00:04:01I'll tell you what.
00:04:03I'll tell you what though.
00:04:04We've had great fun putting together at this Game Show American there.
00:04:07Hang on a minute.
00:04:08Can I just stop you there?
00:04:09We?
00:04:10Don't even me.
00:04:11I've done all the work.
00:04:12I've got the audience.
00:04:13I've got all the prizes sorted.
00:04:14What you had to do was come up with a catchphrase.
00:04:16Yes.
00:04:17Well.
00:04:18Tell me you've come up with a catchphrase.
00:04:20You haven't come up with a catchphrase, have you?
00:04:22Oh.
00:04:23Oh, Ant-Man.
00:04:24I've done everything.
00:04:25I've done everything else.
00:04:26I was up all night auditioning the Dolly Dealers.
00:04:28Oh.
00:04:29You must be exhausted.
00:04:30I am exhausted.
00:04:31All right.
00:04:32But here's me, exhausted, and you can't even come up with a simple catchphrase.
00:04:35And they're easy.
00:04:36They're easy as well.
00:04:37Just think of all the great ones.
00:04:38Nice to see you.
00:04:39To see you.
00:04:40Nice.
00:04:41Super smash and great.
00:04:43You know, that's easy.
00:04:44Come on down.
00:04:45Oh, I see what you mean.
00:04:47Hiya, hiya.
00:04:48I see what you mean.
00:04:49You haven't, haven't, you don't joke about it.
00:04:54You haven't had any ideas, have you?
00:04:56Yes.
00:04:57Yes, I have.
00:04:58I've got one now, actually.
00:05:01We've got prizes.
00:05:03We've got stars.
00:05:04We've got game shows coming out of that.
00:05:05No.
00:05:06I've never got stuff here.
00:05:09Yeah.
00:05:10Forget about it.
00:05:11We'll do the whole series of catchphrases.
00:05:14Ladies and gentlemen, whose game?
00:05:17We!
00:05:18Good.
00:05:19Let's do the show.
00:05:20Hang on a minute.
00:05:21Did you hear it?
00:05:22I just...
00:05:23I said, ladies and gentlemen, whose game?
00:05:24We!
00:05:25Then let's do the show.
00:05:27And I think I've just come up with a brilliant catchphrase.
00:05:29Brilliant!
00:05:30What is it?
00:05:31What is it?
00:05:32Well, that's...
00:05:33Good.
00:05:34Is everybody ready for the first game show of the marathon?
00:05:36Yay!
00:05:37Yay!
00:05:38Good!
00:05:39Okay.
00:05:40What is it that all you're all thinking?
00:05:42Well, I'll give you some clues.
00:05:43This game show is hosted by Leslie Crowther, then Bruce Forsythe.
00:05:46Woo!
00:05:47Woo!
00:05:48It had the loudest, craziest audience on television.
00:05:53Woo!
00:05:54Very good.
00:05:55Very good.
00:05:56And it featured those immortal words.
00:05:58Come on down!
00:05:59Yay!
00:06:00Yay!
00:06:01Yes!
00:06:02Tonight's game show is...
00:06:03The Price is Right!
00:06:04Woo!
00:06:05Woo!
00:06:06Woo!
00:06:07Woo!
00:06:08Woo!
00:06:09Woo!
00:06:10Woo!
00:06:11Woo!
00:06:12Woo!
00:06:13Woo!
00:06:14Woo!
00:06:15Woo!
00:06:16Woo!
00:06:17Woo!
00:06:18Woo!
00:06:19Woo!
00:06:20Woo!
00:06:21Woo!
00:06:22Woo!
00:06:23Woo!
00:06:24Woo!
00:06:25Woo!
00:06:26Woo!
00:06:27Woo!
00:06:28Woo!
00:06:29We've even got the girls.
00:06:30This is brilliant.
00:06:31Good.
00:06:32Hello.
00:06:33Hello, how are you?
00:06:34Hi, how are you?
00:06:35Beautiful to see you.
00:06:36Good, how are you?
00:06:37Lovely to see you.
00:06:38So we've got the set, we've got the girls, and we've got some great prizes.
00:06:44Tonight we're playing for cars, holidays, and a few prizes you won't see anywhere else on television.
00:06:48But our star contestants won't actually be keeping any of them because everything they win tonight will go to one of you at home.
00:06:54Yes, there's a big potential prize package tonight.
00:06:57If you want to be in with a shout of getting it, all you have to do is call this number and answer the question.
00:07:01Which of the following was a host on Family Fortune?
00:07:04A. Les Dennis, B. Les Dawson, or C. Les of your cheek, young man?
00:07:11Call 09012 930940, calls cost a pound, or text your answer A, B or C to 6337.
00:07:20Texts also cost a pound, plus three messages at standard rate.
00:07:23Players must be 18 or over, and lines close at 9pm tonight.
00:07:29Oh, it's all coming back to me now. The prizes, the girls, the audience, we love this show.
00:07:33Everybody loves this show. We're not the only ones. Here's why the whole nation fell in love with The Price is Right.
00:07:39It's Saturday night.
00:07:41The audience were whipped into a frenzy.
00:07:44The catchphrase was unforgettable.
00:07:46Come on down!
00:07:48The games were truly bizarre.
00:07:51The Price is Right, TV's loudest ever game show.
00:07:55We'd go absolutely hysterical.
00:07:58It came in at a time when we were ready to go over the top.
00:08:01Mayhem rain, and you needed a mustard to control it.
00:08:03And here's Leslie Crowder!
00:08:07I think Leslie was perfect for The Price is Right. He was charming and patient.
00:08:12I always thought that Leslie Crowder was too nice to be a game show host, actually.
00:08:15Have I won? Nobody knew he'd won, but I promise you, I knew, and you have.
00:08:20Where did he get those glasses? He looked to me like he'd nicked two windscreens off of Robin Reliant.
00:08:25They were huge, and that's why I loved him.
00:08:28Taking over from somebody like Leslie Crowder, who'd done the show for so long, was immensely difficult.
00:08:34And the person to do it was obviously Bruce Forsythe.
00:08:37Welcome!
00:08:39Bruce is Mr. Entertainer, so everything Bruce does has to be show busy.
00:08:42Do that, you know, do...
00:08:45Do a little tap dance.
00:08:49And then those magic words.
00:08:51Nice to see you, to see you!
00:08:54The come on down moment was brilliant television.
00:08:57They'd been hyped up, hyped up.
00:08:59And everyone's cheering, all animated.
00:09:02I think they had a zookeeper train the audience.
00:09:03You know what you're here for, don't you?
00:09:05Yes, you'd be like, okay, say the name, will you? Gene Smith.
00:09:09Come on down!
00:09:11Eileen, come on down!
00:09:14They'd go, grab their head like that, and then they'd start yelling like that.
00:09:17Darren Stokes, come on down!
00:09:21Come on down!
00:09:22They'd scream and shout, as if they'd already won something.
00:09:26And you had to run down those steps in a very un-British way.
00:09:30And obviously for women, very difficult if you didn't have a decent bra.
00:09:33A simple format based on guessing the value of a complete range of household objects.
00:09:40If you grow potted plants, what better place to keep them than on a camel?
00:09:44What is it? How can you possibly know the price of it?
00:09:4795.
00:09:48Do you think this is a cheap show?
00:09:51There were so many different games.
00:09:52They had to keep inventing games that were basically just telling you whether you were right or whether you were wrong, whether the price was higher or lower.
00:10:00I particularly remember the game Cliffhanger, because the set looked like some 12-year-old had made it in woodwork class.
00:10:07Just rubbish, you know, not a penny spent on it at all.
00:10:10They had this little guy going up the side of this cliff, yodelling.
00:10:14And when you get into the top, it mustn't fall off headlong into the abyss.
00:10:20And it's a two-foot drop into some polypene.
00:10:23And I thought that was hilarious.
00:10:24And I think on the edition I watched, I think he actually won it.
00:10:28You've got it!
00:10:29Yes!
00:10:30And he won a little cup.
00:10:32At the end of the show, they'd have something called a showcase wheel, and they'd have to get the nearest to 100.
00:10:36And sometimes they'd get a bit weedy, and Brucey was quite hard on it.
00:10:39Come on, though.
00:10:40What the... what the... what the...
00:10:42No, he's got to go all the way round.
00:10:46Give it a good tug, OK?
00:10:48The games were funny, but then they'd show the prizes.
00:10:52And that was the comedy.
00:10:56And three cheers to the scriptwriter and those prize descriptions.
00:11:00God, what a job.
00:11:01Evoke the spirit of the gypsy encampment with the barefoot wild woman dancing round the fire.
00:11:07I thought our prizes were bad.
00:11:09Could you estimate the value of this?
00:11:10Or rather, how much would you pay to have it taken away?
00:11:15For some reason, in order to demonstrate how good the prizes were, you have to have a person pointing at them.
00:11:21And obviously not a fat and attractive one.
00:11:22The models definitely thought this was their big chance.
00:11:26There's this guy with a fridge, you know, and he doesn't know what to do, but he's, you know, he's giving it his all.
00:11:30He's doing the big sell, the big smile and everything.
00:11:33It's a fridge.
00:11:34The mix of studio madness and extraordinary prizes worked, and the Price is Right went on to top the TV ratings with a mass of 60 million viewers.
00:11:43The excitement of winning came straight into the home, and you were pleased for it.
00:11:52For some reason, people used to just jump on Bruce all the time.
00:11:57They would run at him and just grab him.
00:11:59They were hypnotized.
00:12:00Someone said to them, that man over there is very attractive, go for it, and they did.
00:12:06There was no holding back on these people, you know, the whole family had rushed the stage.
00:12:10British people, we don't behave like that normally.
00:12:12What have they done?
00:12:12They put something in their tea before the show started.
00:12:14So that's the Price is Right.
00:12:16Mad, bad, and very, very loud.
00:12:20Good night.
00:12:21What a night.
00:12:26You've got me in the mood, that.
00:12:27Right.
00:12:28Everything's in place, and after the break, it's time to start the marathon with the Price is Right 2005.
00:12:34But the big question is, who will be tonight's contestants?
00:12:38Yes, and who will be playing TV's biggest game show?
00:12:42Will it be you, Andy Fordham?
00:12:44Could you be playing Sheila Ferguson?
00:12:48Or will it be you, Frank Carson?
00:12:50Find out when we return with The Price is Right.
00:13:06The taste of summer?
00:13:07Fizzy and happily.
00:13:08Maybe describing the taste of Strongbow is too big a job for three men alone.
00:13:12Frunchally sweet.
00:13:14Zingy, actually.
00:13:14I haven't heard the word delectable.
00:13:15I don't think you can express the taste of Strongbow in words.
00:13:18Close your eyes.
00:13:19Maybe we should surrender ourselves to fate.
00:13:23These are the ducks of fate.
00:13:24That says mellow.
00:13:25Do you approve of the word mellow?
00:13:26Uh, for sure.
00:13:28Perfect.
00:13:29Oh, that's too good.
00:13:30That doesn't tell us anything.
00:13:31Strongbow.
00:13:32Let the taste do the talking.
00:13:35The sandwich.
00:13:37Otherwise known as...
00:13:38The butter.
00:13:39The stuffy.
00:13:40The soda.
00:13:41And now new toasted deli sandwiches from McDonald's.
00:13:44Distant relatives of the ones your mother made for school.
00:13:47Have bribed young Woodford in 9B.
00:13:49Only now made with soft, freshly toasted bread.
00:13:52Inspired by the doorstop.
00:13:54The double-decker.
00:13:55Triple-decker.
00:13:56The only meal every man can make.
00:13:58Only now with ingredients you can actually eat.
00:14:00Tender roast beef and mature cheddar cheese.
00:14:03Lay it with slices.
00:14:04Not grated or squeezed.
00:14:05With juicy tomatoes and onions.
00:14:07Crunchy lettuce.
00:14:09Topped with horseradish and mustard mayo.
00:14:11Freshly prepared.
00:14:12On the spot.
00:14:13Not from the backs of cupboards.
00:14:14Look at them.
00:14:16So for sandwich lovers everywhere.
00:14:19Cheese ham and pepperoni.
00:14:20Roast beef and mature cheddar.
00:14:22Chicken salad.
00:14:23Chicken tikka.
00:14:23Grilled veggie milk.
00:14:25And sweet chilli chicken.
00:14:26McDonald's eat toasted deli sandwiches.
00:14:29Because sandwiches are important.
00:14:35Reveal the intensity of your color with sunsilk shampoos and conditioners.
00:14:50For brunettes, redheads and blondes.
00:14:51The new finest cuts of chicken breast.
00:15:11Shiba.
00:15:13Share the experience.
00:15:15The captain and his mates scrub up with candy wash mittens.
00:15:19Just stick and squeeze to release the gentle foam to keep yourself shit-shaped.
00:15:22I can't do this too.
00:15:24I can't do.
00:15:26When your dream is half a world away.
00:15:28How far away, Jinglin?
00:15:29400 bucks too far.
00:15:31It takes someone who believes in you.
00:15:33You deserve this chance, Santiago.
00:15:35To give you hope.
00:15:36I promise God I do everything to help you follow your dreams.
00:15:41He's from Mexico.
00:15:42Vijayan, I'm sorry.
00:15:43And someone who knows you.
00:15:44Don't change.
00:15:46Adios, amigo.
00:15:47To show you the way.
00:15:48I don't know where home is anymore.
00:15:50It's green and it's got a ball pose at each end.
00:15:53Yeah!
00:15:53Goal!
00:15:58Never mind.
00:16:00My beamer tastes great because 95% of all Britain's black colors make it.
00:16:05It took something extraordinary to emerge as car of the year 2005.
00:16:12A car with adaptive front lighting, solar reflect windscreens, and keyless entry.
00:16:20The very latest in Bluetooth voice control and the highest Euro NCAP safety rating in its class ever.
00:16:26The new Ford Focus, now available with a typical 5.5% APR.

00:16:34What better way to celebrate 50 years of ITV than to applaud 50 years worth of what ITV didn't quite get right.

00:22:13but you could add to it with one of these.
00:22:16Get ready for the holiday of a lifetime
00:22:19when you and your partner travel to Club Kelowna in Antigua,
00:22:22where life's up each 24-7.
00:22:25With sailing, windsurfing, and mountain biking,
00:22:28this is one for a real action man or woman.
00:22:31Or maybe you prefer your own disco.
00:22:35You'll get mighty, meaty music
00:22:37from this powerful Soundforce UK disco set-up.
00:22:41There's a twin CD player, mixer and mic,
00:22:44an ear-bursting amplifier with speaker and stand,
00:22:47and a lighting rig.
00:22:48In fact, everything a DJ needs to put his show on the road.
00:22:55You're all really enjoying this, aren't you?
00:22:58All right then, Carol, we're going to play Cliffhanger.
00:23:01Now, have a look.
00:23:01Here's our little mountain climber now.
00:23:04He's 25 steps away from the edge of the cliff,
00:23:07and only you can save him.
00:23:09Now, to win one of those lovely prizes,
00:23:11you have to ensure that the mountain climber
00:23:12does not fall off the edge of the cliff into...
00:23:16the abyss of you!
00:23:22What the hell are you doing?
00:23:23Just a bit of effort.
00:23:24Stop it.
00:23:25Thank you very much.
00:23:26Okay, we're going to show you three items,
00:23:28and you need to tell me how much each one of them costs, okay?
00:23:30If you're right, the climber stays exactly where he is.
00:23:33If you're wrong, then for each pound you're wrong,
00:23:36this little fella moves a step up the mountain.
00:23:38So if you say 20 pound, and it's actually 17 pound,
00:23:41you'll take three steps up the mountain.
00:23:42Okay.
00:23:42Clear?
00:23:43Yeah.
00:23:43She knows the math step.
00:23:44I think she's all right with this one.
00:23:45It gives me to try to tell Carol more of the math.
00:23:47Good.
00:23:48You ready for a bit of the mountain?
00:23:48Yes, I am.
00:23:49Yes.
00:23:50Have a look at this.
00:23:52With powerful suction pads,
00:23:54this fish shower radio sticks to your bathroom tiles or windows,
00:23:58and you need never be bored in the shower again.
00:24:01Water way to have a good time.
00:24:04Oh, water way to...
00:24:06Water way.
00:24:07Anyway, Carol, so what do you think the price is for that fish shower radio?
00:24:11Now it's going to be somewhere between 15...
00:24:13What is it?
00:24:15They're helping you out.
00:24:1620.
00:24:16Your mum's in the audience.
00:24:18She's helping you out there.
00:24:19What?
00:24:19What is it?
00:24:2113.
00:24:2313.
00:24:2313, she says.
00:24:24My mum says 13.
00:24:2613.
00:24:26Okay.
00:24:2713.
00:24:28You're saying 13.
00:24:28Yes.
00:24:29All right.
00:24:3013.
00:24:30Was she right?
00:24:32Oh, no.
00:24:34Mum!
00:24:35How wrong was she?
00:24:43Well done, Carol.
00:24:45Well done, come and see the price, Kirstie, please.
00:24:48Of course.
00:24:49Hey!
00:24:5114 pounds.
00:24:52One pound out, so it only takes one step,
00:24:54and there's 24 steps left until the mountaineer falls off the cliff into the abyss.
00:24:59All right.
00:25:02Did Brucey do that?
00:25:04Did Crowther do that?
00:25:06I don't think so, son.
00:25:08Stop.
00:25:08Okay, Carol, be careful when you bid on this.
00:25:11This deep fat fryer from Kenwood has a non-stick COVID bowl for easy cleaning.
00:25:17Perfect for anything from chips to donuts.
00:25:20This is a must for foodies everywhere.
00:25:24Now, Carol, I can't tell you, the deep fat fryer is more than the fish shower radio, okay?
00:25:30How much do you think it costs?
00:25:31How much?
00:25:35What do you think?
00:25:4038.
00:25:4138.

00:26:13Wow.
00:26:16Look at that.
00:26:18Three pounds out.
00:26:20You've only got 21 steps on the mountain until he falls off the cliff.
00:26:23So be very careful, Carol.
00:26:25Okay.
00:26:25When you bid.

00:26:55You're choking.

00:56:53So, I've got to do some adding ups.
00:56:54Yes.
00:56:54Have you only got it, Matt?
00:56:55No.
00:56:57I'm about to say some beautiful prizes.
00:56:58Give each prize a price.
00:56:59Yeah.
00:57:00And add them all up.
00:57:00And we'll ask you for your grand total at the end.
00:57:02Okay.
00:57:02And that could be 3,000 under?
00:57:04Yeah.
00:57:04Not any over.
00:57:05Any over.
00:57:06And if you manage to get it, one lucky viewer could win.

00:57:11Let's take a look then at tonight's showcase.
00:57:14Your showcase tonight starts with these fantastic fold-away bikes.
00:57:18Or bike in a bag as they're known.
00:57:21Ideal for caravanning, camping or commuting, the bag is also dual purpose and doubles as a rucksack.
00:57:27And when they've worn you out, you can return home for the ultimate chill-out session in this delightful reed spot.
00:57:35Complete with chrome jets and a CD player, this is the most relaxing barb you'll ever have.
00:57:41But don't get too comfy because you're off to the sunshine state of Florida.
00:57:47You'll be visiting the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, where you can enjoy some amazing white-knuckle rides.
00:57:55With thrills and spills galore, this should be the holiday of a lifetime.
00:58:00Hold on to your hats.
00:58:01And when you're back from Florida, you can drive home from the airport in a brand new runner, Laguna.
00:58:09With a hands-free car instead of a key, this is a real modern motor.
00:58:14So, you can give all your friends the runner-up.
00:58:17Some fantastic prizes, I'm sure you'll agree.
00:58:20And they could all be yours tonight, Carol, if the price is right.
