Hurricane Erick has claimed at least two lives in Mexico: a child swept away in Guerrero and a man electrocuted while repairing storm damage. The Category 4 storm caused landslides, downed power lines and coastal flooding, leaving more than 120,000 people without power and forcing the closure of businesses and schools in Acapulco, where residents were still suffering from the trauma of the deadly 2023 Hurricane Otis.
