Hurricane Ida, Category 4 Tropical Storm Hits US State Of Louisiana, Day After Hurricane Katrina Anniversary

Hurricane Ida crashed into Louisiana from the Gulf of Mexico as a fierce Category 4 storm on August 29. Hurricane Ida lashed the coast with 150 mile-per-hour winds & torrential downpours. US President Joe Biden said the storm “continues to rage and ravage everything it comes into contact with.” He urged residents in affected areas to listen to instructions from local and state authorities. Biden said, “The storm is a life-threatening storm.” Hurricane Ida made landfall as an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 hurricane. It made landfall near Port Fourchon, Louisiana, at 11:55 am CDT (16:55 GMT) on August 29, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. Hurricane Ida hit the US Gulf Coast region on the exact date Hurricane Katrina ravaged Louisiana and Mississippi 16 years ago.
